He brought out Floaty and asked the great metagross to be silent as they watched the Team Rocket operation, they had several Pokémon defending against the attacks of local Pokémon. He could see several bodies of zubat and geodude. He returned Beda and Tyrunt and then proceeded to ask Floaty to find the guarded trainers pokeballs.
The metagross focused, its psychic prowess scanning the Rocket camp lightly. Floaty then proceeded to remotely teleport them to their linked owners with a small psychic message.
"Floaty." Stlix said with a savage grin. "I believe we should call Buddy up for a surprise whilst you attack head on." The metagross hummed wickedly and before sending a small pulse to call the great steelix. Meanwhile Stlix prepared to steal the Rockets pokeballs, copying his old tactics from when he first encountered Rockets in Floaty's metagross hive.
As Floaty roared and attracted the grunts attention, who immediately placed hands upon their pokeballs, before slamming a metal claw into the torso of the nearest golbat. Stlix ran from behind the metagross and slammed into the nearest Rocket thug. He grabbed the pokeballs off the man before sprinting at another grunt.
As he ran, he felt slight trembles within the ground that signified the presence of Buddy beneath his feet and out of the corner of his eye he could see some of the restrained trainers snapping bonds and calling out Pokémon.
One teenager with purple hair called out two Pokémon, one tortoise like Pokémon with a golden shell and another with yellow fur and electricity crackling around it, and Stlix recognised Paul from Pewter City. The teenager called out commands with a quiet anger that reflected in the harsh attacks upon the Rockets.
It was then that a tiny crobat flew at Stlix slamming into him a throwing him against the far wall. From where the crobat came from was a man that Stlix recognised, the admin from the attack on the metagross hive.
"You." The man snarled with an animalistic expression. "You set us back a lot. Exposing larger activities and stopping our attack." The man seemed to vibrate with rage. "Today you die. Crobat, kill."
Before the long fangs of the Pokémon could sink into him a massive steel head erupted from the ground, swallowing the Pokémon. Buddy, still mostly submerged, turned his bulk to the admin and gave a great metallic scream of anger. The admin recognising the danger of the enraged steelix immediately called out an alakazam and teleported to places unknown, Stlix cursed seeing the familiar exit.
All other Rocket grunts in the cavern gave an immediate offer of surrender seeing their leader gone and the enraged steelix. One closer to the steel type had a darker patch spreading through his trousers.
The other trainers used their Pokémon to herd the members into the exact same spot they had been trapped mere minutes ago. The Pokémon were recalled in the pokeballs and the few corpses were piled into a stack by the door.
"Paul." Stlix said to the teenager who walked over to him. "Can anyone contact the league or rangers."
"Two trainers with Pokémon capable of it teleported to do so as soon as the battle died down. They should return soon enough." Stlix nodded at the reply, satisfied by the efficiency of the captive trainers. He brought out Happiny to check the trainers Pokémon for injuries. Paul raised his eyebrows at that.
"I think all trainers should have a teammate capable of healing in case." Stlix offered explanation. "Once she evolves to a chansey I have someone capable of healing and curing my other teammates in case I can't reach a Pokémon centre or have run out of potions. Paul seemed to think for a moment before nodding.
"Where did you get a happiny, they wouldn't live in the wild parts of Kanto?" He asked.
"Nurse Joy at Viridian City, I asked if she knew where to find a chansey and she showed me her own chansey's children. Happiny here." He pointed at the giggling being. "Was the one who wished to accompany me." Paul let out a small grunt before walking back to see the captive grunts.
Stlix went to stand by Buddy, where he had laid his head upon the ground, and Floaty hovered over towards Happiny to keep careful watch over his teammate. Stlix watched also as the small injuries on the trainers various pokemon, he could see the nidoran line, rattata line, pidgey line, geodude line and the rhyhorn line, disappear with repeated uses of refresh.
He then jerked as a boulder knocked against his leg, he looked down to see a tiny geodude, barley bigger than two fists, knock against his leg again looking at him. He gently knelt by the small Pokémon, conscious of the slow shifting of Buddy behind him.
"Hello, geodude, what would you like?" He asked the small rock being. He then blinked in surprise as one of its two arms stole an empty pokeball from his belt and smacked it against its body. He watched with astonishment as the boulder disappeared without a single tremble upon the structure of the heavy ball.
He slowly grabbed the ball and stared at it with a realisation, he hadn't done one of the basic parts of being a trainer, he hadn't caught a pokemon. Buddy and Floaty didn't count, Beda was his 'starter' and Happiny and tyrunt were gifted by another person.
It was slightly astonishing that he had never battled a pokemon in the wild, knocked it out before throwing a pokeball. As he mused over his newest capture, league representatives teleported into the cavern alongside a team of rangers.
Several of each group moved to take the Rocket grunts prisoner, take their pokeballs and look over the mining equipment in the room. The other part of the group moved towards the trainers, one league representative and ranger moved specifically for Stlix and he had an ominous feeling looking at the face of the league member. The ranger seemed far more professional, and gave the steelix warning about approaching its trainer.
The league person strode right at Stlix with a sneer upon his face.
"Give me your ID." He snapped out. "And your pokeballs. A child should not be in control of a metagross and a steelix." Stlix's face slackened slightly with emotions warring upon his face. Amusement, outrage, indignation and irritation jostling for position as he turned to face the ranger.
"Greetings ranger. I hope that the message reached you quickly. You may have to shut the route through Mount Moon for several weeks. The Rockets have disturbed the ecosystem here greatly." The league representative, upon being ignored, went red in the face as he grabbed Stlix's jacket.
"See here, boy." He bit out in anger. "Your trainership has been revoked, give me your pokeballs." Stlix smirked at the man as he started to float in the air, his fingers unclenched regardless of his own will, and was met by the angry faces of a steelix and metagross.
"I think I am going to have to lodge a complaint." Stlix nodded as the atmosphere in the cavern grew tense.
