A/N: Another prompt fic: this one started angsty and...somehow turned into this?

"Are ya crying?"

"Ahou," Kazuha's voice cracked against the word. "Don't acknowledge it."

"Ah…" Heiji's mouth opened and closed as he tried to figure out what he could say. This had not been the reaction he'd anticipated. "If th' idea makes ya that upset, ya can just say no."

"Heiji, ya idiot!" Kazuha yelled, glaring.

He swiftly raised his hands in surrender, even though with her reddened eyes and tear-streaked face, the glare was the opposite of intimidating. "I'm just a bit confused—"

"They're happy tears, Ahou!"

"Hah?!" Heiji was officially lost. In his (very limited) experience with crying people, crying was not a good sign. But, well, if Kazuha cried because she was happy then that was confusing, but at least she was happy—wait, did that mean—?

"Idiot! I'm happy because I like ya too!"

Heiji could feel the grin spreading across his face, "Ya know, there's better ways t' show that than crying about it."

Kazuha's eyes narrowed, "Ya keep talking an—"

Her words cut off as Heiji leaned forward and kissed her. He'd repeatedly thought of kissing Kazuha, but the reality was better than anything he'd imagined. Heiji had imagined it would be nice, but he'd never imagined how right it felt, or the way the feel of her lips pressing back against his would make his heart race and his face flush. When he pulled back from the kiss, Kazuha was blushing too, and her eyes were glowing with happiness.

Heiji knew he would do whatever it took to see that happiness on her face and keep it there as long as possible.
