His colouring was similar to when he was a geodude and he was still extremely small for his species, the top of his boulder barely rising above Stlix's knee. A silvery white rock that shimmered in the lighting and four arms covered in rocky plate.
Graveler looked at Stlix extremely happy as Stlix beamed back, Geodude had been ready to evolve for a while now but had held back for some reason. Despite caring a lot for Stlix Geodude obviously had some problem from before he had met Stlix.
Stlix didn't push him on it, he would wait until Graveler was ready and if he never was, so be it. Stlix was happy that Graveler was on his team and that was that. After congratulating Graveler he pulled out the pokedex to scan him again.
Graveler
The Rock Pokémon
Gravelers are frequently seen rolling down mountains and hills at impossible speeds for such a slow Pokémon. They do this to toughen themselves up by bashing their bodies against obstacles. Any rock broken off from them on their descent is replaced by the Graveler eating stones within its path back to the top.
A Graveler may break or shatter completely upon hitting a large enough obstacle but unless their core body is fragmented beyond repair, they will eventually regenerate. Therefore, they are amongst the toughest of Pokémon.
This Graveler has the ability Rock Head: A quirk of a Pokémon's biology that prevents recoil damage from certain moves.
This Graveler knows the moves:
(New) Stealth rock, Stone edge, Earthquake.
Note: This Graveler has a diverse genetic base, please talk more with your sponsor.
Stlix could not actually believe what he was seeing. Whilst the main description of Graveler he did know, and the ability had stayed the same the moves he had learned upon evolving were huge. It should be impossible for Graveler to learn these moves without substantial amounts of instruction or a TM.
One more thing to say about upon Graveler's examination. Stlix was highly anticipating getting to Vermillion, he wished to see Floaty and ask how he had got on with Magikarp, see Steven and see the results of the examinations.
Waking up the next day, Stlix recalled Graveler and collected the rest of his team from the Nurse Joy before going to leave Cerulean. He had completed his goals in this part of Kanto and had even gained several other team members.
He started to walk out along Route 24 quickly, it was a slightly unique Route in Kanto due to the presence of Nugget bridge. Set up in recent years was the Nugget bridge challenge, trainers could choose to fight several trainers that stretched along Nugget bridge and collect a small stamp. To collect all the stamps and win against the final trainer upon the bridge the winning trainer earned a golden nugget.
A golden nugget was a significant chunk of change if sold or a decent trophy to remember later in a trainer's career, even if it wasn't comparable to the Gym circuit it was a notable part of a trainers record now.
He had let out Tyrunt and Merry to accompany him whilst he walked, Graveler was far to slow and heavy in his new form, Beda could use far too many gases to move and Corsola hadn't learnt a move to transport herself over land or air.
Buddy was way too big, would damage the Route far too much and therefore unable to accompany him upon most Routes through Kanto unless they transversed another mountainous area.
Halfway along the Route Stlix started to hurry, the Route between Cerulean and Vermillion was short as the cities had a good relationship for many centuries. Due to Vermillion's presence upon the ocean and Cerulean's love of water types there had been trade for a long time. A storm was rolling in and he needed to find a place to erect a shelter before he called Buddy out. Even the trainers of Nugget Bridge had left with the change in weather.
Stlix had not wanted to compete in the Nugget bridge challenge either, the man in charge of signups had felt 'off' to him and when he saw the trainers fighting large amounts weedle, caterpie and rattata he had felt it sullied an event with good prestige.
He saw a break in the trees with a large rock in the middle that Stlix hurried towards, thinking that Buddy would not have to tear up the clearing to make a small cavern. He stopped when he drew closer, up on the rock was a small red lizard with a blazing flame upon the tip of its tail.
The lizard had perked up when it had seen him before slumping again as it searched his face. Merry gave a chirrup to the charmander and it narrowed its eyes at her in response. The response prompted Tyrunt to give a small snarl at the surly Pokémon.
Stlix looked at the charmander, noting its stance as it wanted to be left alone, before calling out Buddy. The charmander's eyes went wide at the gigantic steelix, its aggressive stance slumping a bit in shock and fear, before it drew itself in a ready pose. Buddy ignored the small fire lizard and listened to Stlix's request for a shelter, tearing a small enclosed cave from the ground with his powers.
Stlix sat inside with Buddy curled around as he lit a small fire and cooked himself some food, he had a good view of the charmander as the rain started falling and immediately called for the Pokémon.
"Hey, quick come in here. The rain can kill you if you stay in it too long." He shouted at the fire type. It gave a resolute shake of its head in response before looking around wildly. That caused Stlix to narrow his eyes in thought, what could Charmander be looking for?
He clenched his fists and hoped Charmander would see sense after being hit with some of the rain and asked Buddy to pull him inside as quickly as possible when it happened. The steelix gave a low rumble in response as leant against the rock wall of the cave. Buddy tended to bury himself slightly when it rained, the raindrops feeling like small insects crawling across his armour.
The rain started lashing harder and still Charmander refused to come inside the cave, eventually Stlix grit his teeth and picked up a pokeball, before throwing it at the charmander.
It bounced off.
The charmander was not a wild Pokémon, unlikely as one was to be around here, but instead was still connected to a pokeball. That meant a trainer had purposefully left Charmander there, possibly even knowing a storm was rolling in.
"Buddy, knock out Charmander." He ordered even as he swung his pack upon his shoulders, he had recalled the rest of his team earlier when it started getting a lot colder. As Buddy's large tail swung out and knocked Charmander out Stlix scooped him up and placed him under his coat for warmth.
He then proceeded to climb on Buddy before ordering the colossal steelix to proceed to Vermillion at full speed. Let nothing get in his way.
