I've had a tough week, but I didn't want to miss updating this week, I did my best! I hope to see your comments, greetings
"It hurts ..." murmured slightly the kid.
His surroundings were in total darkness. His white hair fluttered wildly on her head. A strong hot wind was the only thing he could feel. It touched the skin of his face, arms and legs, hugging him. His heart beat anxiously.
"It hurts," he repeated, narrowing his eyes. He sat on the ground hugging himself in an attempt to feel safe.
Suddenly the darkness that clung to him was gone. He was now surrounded by blue flames that burned like hell. Touya stood up and screamed in despair, and terror. His body was burning, his skin being consumed by his own quirk, it was screeched causing immense pain. He felt his heart leap out of his chest, and round beads of hot sweat ran down his face. The boy fell to his knees, and prostrate on the ground began to scream in a frenzy, he screamed so loudly that he felt his life slip away from him.
He woke up suddenly, his boyish face bathed in salty sweat. His pulse racing and his arms burning in flames.
"No, not again," he yelled as he jumped off the bed.
Touya ran down the hall to the kitchen, his bare feet echoing through the house with every step he took, as his arms burned and the smell of his own burned skin flooded his nostrils making him feel dizzy and nauseous. He hurriedly opened the water tap on the sink and shoved his arms under the cold water. He lowered his head, pressing his lips together, the pain was excruciating. This time the flames had not been as strong and scandalous as the last time, but it was still an indescribable pain for his weak and small body. He tried to concentrate, tried to stop his quirk. It hurt too much.
When the flames finally died down, still with her arms stuck in the sink and her forehead resting on the edge of it, she began to cry. I was afraid. His arms were sore. He felt that he lived trapped in that weak body, unable to bear the flames of his own quirk. Touya cursed his life, and cried. He wondered angrily why he should suffer like that. Why did he have to feel that pain, there was no answer there was only that, pain.
He let his body drop and leaned his back against the cupboard doors. Touya was crying in a muffled way, in an attempt not to attract the attention of his family.
The sound of the boy's footsteps had alerted his father, that he had been with insomniac all night. Enji left his room to see his children, the children were sleeping peacefully. Only the oldest did not find in his room and had gone looking for him. The scene he encountered was one that tormented him in nightmares.
"Touya!" Enji advanced quickly towards his son with a few steps. Looking at the state he was in, he was reminded of the incident in which he lost it the first time; and he felt absolute terror come from his chest.
"Leave me alone, get out of here ..." the boy shouted, slapping his father's hand away.
Enji sighed regretfully. He looked at his son's arms, their flesh burning and red-hot. He turned around and Touya watched him walk away. The boy lowered his face and kept crying, stifling his crying. Trying to forget about the pain.
Suddenly a moment later he felt himself being lifted in his arms. He looked at his father who had gone to get his car keys.
"What do you do?", He tried to free himself from the arms that carried him.
"We will go to the hospital," Enji answered in a determined tone as they left the house.
His father still with a cast on his arm was holding him, as if he were a doll. Touya thought he should give him points for that. And he closed his eyes, stopping fighting.
The cold night wind chilled the sweat on his forehead, Touya squeezed his eyes together, the pain in his arms was getting worse. Enji put him in the back seat of his car and sped through the lonely city streets. He was mentally thankful for not running into any red lights and for not finding any more cars on his way. He was worried about Touya who was lying on the back seat while whimpering slightly. This time he was not going to lose his son, he would do everything possible for Touya to live a long life. To be a happy and healthy child.
Arriving at the hospital, he ran with his son in his arms and entered the emergency room screaming for a doctor. The nurses on duty were startled by the screams of the mountain of man who had appeared so suddenly on their early morning shift, which had been quiet until that moment.
A short-haired young male nurse appeared with a stretcher and Enji laid his son on it. Touya writhed from the pain he felt.
"You have to help my son," he yelled in a worried tone.
As they walked rapidly a white corridor, Touya watched as his father ran alongside the stretcher.
"What is the boy's name?", Asked an older-looking nurse.
A doctor pointed his medical flashlight against the boy's pupils. Amid so much movement and voices of nurses and doctors he felt dizzy.
"Todoroki, Todoroki Touya," Touya heard his father say his name.
"Sir, you must fill out these papers, you can't go any further."
The nurse from earlier stood in front of Enji as her son walked away. Touya could see his father's scared face as he left him. And he felt surprised. Then he passed out.
Enji stared at the door that Touya had been led through just an instant before. He lowered his worried face, and pressed the board with the form in his good hand. He sat on a bench against the wall. He was nervous.
He looked at his feet, he was wearing open sandals to walk around the house, black. He didn't want to waste time on anything. He had run to his room and grabbed the first pants he found and his keys, he didn't even bother to wear a coat.
He looked at the form in his hand. He took the pen that was tied to the board and began to fill in his son's information. He left the papers with the receptionist when he finished and left the waiting room for a moment to take a breath.
He looked at the starry sky of that night. A cold wind made his red hair dance. As his mind wandered to the bright spots that lay in the sky as guardians of the night, he wondered if he would be able to bear losing Touya again. He clenched the fist of his good arm and a slight flame escaped from him, extinguishing almost instantly. The uncertainty was beginning to lodge in his chest.
"Mr. Todoroki." A nurse's voice brought him out of his thoughts.
He turned to see the woman in the dark blue uniform.
"What happened to my son?" he asked worriedly.
"We have healed his wounds," he followed the nurse into the hospital, "they have given him a sedative to allow him to rest."
"I can see him?"
"Yes, in a moment you'll can see him." But first the doctor wants to talk to you.
Enji nodded and followed her.
After walking through some corridors with white walls and the smell of disinfectant. And an elevator ride. Enji met Dr. Nageda outside his son's room. The doctor was an older man with gray hair. He was wearing glasses and looked a bit tired.
"I'm Dr. Nageda, nice to meet you," he said, holding out his hand.
"Todoroki Enji," he answered, shaking hands, "how is my son?"
The doctor looked at him with an understanding face.
"The situation is delicate considering his antecedents. I understand from his medical history that this is not the first time this has happened. Touya is unable to control his quirk and his body is too weak to contain it"
Enji felt his head buzz. His feet felt heavy and the air was not reaching his lungs. He had heard those words before and they did not bode well.
"What can we do? Do I have to resign myself to losing it?" He asked desperately.
"For the moment, we can only let him rest. We healed his burns, and we gave him something for the pain. He is stable. When he wakes up we will do some tests and we can see options"
The doctor slightly pushed the door of the room inviting him to enter. Touya had his arms bandaged and was sleeping. The doctor said goodbye to Enji and left him alone. Looking at his son in that state hurt. He had to be able to change Touya's future. He pulled up a chair and sat on the side of the bed.
He reached out his hand to his son's hand. He touched his lightly, it was soft and warm like his. He wondered how many times he had taken the time to be with him without yelling, without fighting, without making him strain, without causing him harm. He closed his eyes as he held Touya's small hand in his.
Enji sighed, the memory of their first meeting coming to his mind. On that occasion he had also held his little, plump hand. He had been proud and satisfied with life. He had a son. He remembered taking his baby in his arms and marveling at his beautiful blue eyes and round cheeks, which were red and puffy. Rei smiled at him from the hospital bed, and although she was exhausted from the delivery she looked happy. He was too, with his heart full of happiness.
The ringing of his phone brought him back to reality. He took it with shaking hands and left the room.
"Enji! Where are you? Are you okay?", The uneasy voice of his wife flooded his mind.
"I'm fine, calm down," he said in the calmest voice he could.
"What happened? Why have you left without warning?", The voice on the line sounded increasingly impatient.
"You should calm down. Listen well...", he paused, "I'm in the hospital… is Touya ..."
An overwhelming silence was what followed.
"Rei?", he heard her cry on the other side of the line and his heart shrunk, "he's better now", he said trying to get the attention of his wife on the line, "he had an accident with his quirk..." She cried uneasily. "Don't cry, you must calm down," Enji repeated.
"I'll go to the hospital," the woman said in an altered tone.
"Don't do it, it's dangerous. There is nothing you can do here…"
"But Enji ..." she replied in a small voice, starting to cry.
"He'll be fine. I'm not going anywhere. I'll see you as soon as the sun comes up. And I'll bring in you to the hospital, just wait for me"
The woman repressed her desire to run to find her son. And tried to think with a cold mind. She understood what her husband was saying. She was in no condition to go to the hospital alone, especially in the middle of the night. Rei run a hand over her swollen belly and sighed sadly.
"It's okay, I will wait. But promise you'll call me if something happens"
"I'll do it do not worry"
"Take care of him Enji", Rei gasped.
After the call with her husband, Rei sat on the edge of the bed in a state of restlessness. She wondered what would happen to Touya? A hole was made in her stomach just thinking that things would get complicated with her son's health. The woman lay back on the bed slowly and stared at the ceiling in complete darkness. She couldn't sleep anymore. Her head was full of conflicting thoughts and she had a revolution of emotions in her heart. She wanted to see her son, be with him, and hug him.
She had been in bed for a week and at least she could finally get back on her feet and be with her children. Rei wished the hours would go quickly and that it would be dawn soon so she could go to the hospital and see her son.
At the hospital Enji walked with a paper cup of hot coffee to his son's room. He wondered how his wife was, and if she had managed to calm down. He was hoping she could get some rest before going to the hospital. In Touya's room he sat next to the bed, while he give it little sips to the hot drink. His son was breathing normally and his face seemed peaceful while he slept. Enji wouldn't sleep that night either, he wanted to take care of Touya.
