Half an hour later Stlix was walking back to the Pokémon centre, Lieutenant Surge had given him a nod upon seeing Damien a bloodied mess before confiscating the Pokémon he had owned. Stlix had gone to see Charmander.
He arrived back at the Pokémon centre and immediately spoke to Nurse Joy to ask about Charmander's condition.
"It is grave. The treatments required to allow it a comfortable life are not covered by a normal trainer deal. It wasn't the rain actually that harmed it, thought that didn't help, but the fact that it had several internal injuries, was extremely malnourished and showed signs of being injected with experimental steroids." Stlix's guilt about not forcing Charmander to a Pokémon centre immediately abated slightly and filed away the part about experimental steroids away for later.
"What would it cost Nurse Joy?" He asked the Pokémon Nurse, they were some of the most knowledgeable Pokémon care experts around, several Pokémon day-cares hired members of the Joy clan as full-time workers.
"It would require some full-time care and several tens of thousands of dollars. One of my own clan would need to monitor 24 hours a day and would thus require the hire of two members of the Joy clan."
"Done. I will talk to my Uncle and have it arranged." Stlix said without a pause. The Nurse gained a pleased smile upon her face at that as Stlix added another statement. "I also have a happiny on my team that could use a check-up, is that ok?" The nurse beamed at that before taking Merry's pokeball away happily as she wandered into another room with a swiftly waddling chansey behind her.
Stlix moved over to the phones within the Pokémon centre, he had to send Beda to Professor Oak for a check-up as well. The Professor wanted to keep an eye upon the growth of a Pseudo-Legendary Pokémon that he had given out as a starter.
"Hello Stlix." Said the Professor when the call picked up. "How is your journey going, you are at Vermillion already?"
"It is ok, Professor?" Stlix replied with a smile. "I am going to send Beda over to you for now a check-up." The Professor gave a nod as Stlix placed Beda's pokeball within the machine to transfer. After a few moments the Professor revealed the transferred pokeball before saying his goodbyes and hanging up.
Stlix then proceeded to call his Uncle, Joseph Stone to see about Charmander's care. The first call didn't go through and Stlix went to call again, it didn't go through on the second call either so Stlix sent a message to call his as soon as possible. He then brought over Magikarp to bond with whilst Beda was with Professor Oak.
Despite the man doing the check-up himself and how Stlix was relieved about that he was a very busy man and Beda may be gone for a few days. So, he had decided to induct the Magikarp as a teammate despite its tendencies to slam into his chest.
He also had to meet with Steven in the Devon Corporation branch in Vermillion city tomorrow to have both Graveler and Magikarp examined to see their own strange diversities. Graveler had his own strange genetic code verified by the pokedex and Stlix was going to check Magikarp as soon as he could.
He went along the coastline as he searched for a place to train with his teammates. He passed several different beaches with people and Pokémon before he came across a small rocky and sandy beach enclosed by towering cliffs.
Stlix released Buddy to help him onto the beach, there was no path that a human could descend safely, and the beach and cliff had several aggressive Pokémon that fled upon seeing Buddy. He clambered onto his friends back and held onto one of the jutting spikes, he noticed whilst he held on that the spike felt more crystalline than metallic.
Upon the beach he had a small shelter carved from tide lashed cliffs whilst he released Tyrunt, Graveler and Corsola into a small rock pool. Tyrunt gave a happy 'purr' when she saw him that sounded strange from such a fearsome Pokémon before she trotted over and rubbed against him.
Graveler gave a happy rumble and tried to scamper over to him, he fell slightly as he was unused to his four limbs. Stlix moved forward and steadied him and patting his stone head. Corsola gave a small cry and shot a small jet of water at Stlix when he turned to face her.
He knelt and brushed his hand along the smooth shell of Corsola's body, he gave a brief examination because it seemed Corsola had close to double in size. Her spines were longer, and shell was thicker. He may ask to have her checked as well, she seemed to be growing far faster compared to others of her species and he worried what effects that may have.
He spoke to the team for several moments, mentioning where Beda and Merry would be for the training session and that the newer member would be revealed today. Releasing Magikarp into the pool by Corsola he was swiftly knocked onto his back by the flailing fish.
He pulled out his pokedex and scanned the Pokémon lead upon his chest. The rest of his team seemed amused at the sight, especially Buddy who gave a small chuff as Stlix was knocked flat.
Magikarp
The Fish Pokémon
One of the most commonly seen Pokémon the world over, Magikarp are seen in seas, rivers, lakes and even shallow puddles. Many scientists have tried to find out how Magikarp can travel to these puddles that have been found far away from any other water source to no avail.
It is known as the weakest Pokémon in the world with a natural ability to jump surprisingly high. From fossil records Magikarp were far larger and stronger in the distant past compared to their horribly weak descendants today.
This Pokémon has the ability Swift Swim: A quirk of a Pokémon's biology that allows the Pokémon to move far, far faster in watery environments.
This Pokémon knows the moves:
Splash, Tackle, Flail.
Note: This Pokémon evolves into Gyarados, The Atrocious Pokémon. This evolution is extremely dangerous and violent, killing even trainers that have raised their Magikarp from birth.
Note: This Magikarp has a diverse genetic base, please talk more with your sponsor.
Stlix understood his gut feeling was correct about Magikarp, resolving to wait for the examination he sat down for a training session with his family.
