Ignoring how Steven was planning to irritate his colleague Stlix asked his own questions to the Doctor.

"So, does that mean that Magikarp has currently only a Dragon type."

"Yes." Doctor Rasen said. "It is really quite extraordinary because everything else points out him to be an ordinary magikarp and we have no idea how it may change upon evolution. Steven was correct in the fact that you attract natural wonders to yourself like Dustox to the flame."

Stlix could understand what the scientist was saying, gyarados featured many draconic traits despite not being a Dragon type. In a Pokémon's genetic structure, it only allowed for two dominant typing's and even then, one was secondary to the other, every other genetic typing was recessive. However, with Magikarp his Dragon typing had been brought to the fore and was suppressing all other genetic types.

"So, what could Magikarp turn out like as a gyarados? Dragon and Water typing or Dragon and Steel typing?"

"That is the even more interesting point. We cannot tell. We can assume that Magikarp will have a primary Dragon typing as Gyarados, but its secondary typing is a complete mystery. It could be pure Dragon type or Dragon and Fighting type for all we know currently."

That was really interesting, his magikarp would be the envy of many aspiring Dragon type trainers. The Magikarp line being known that heavy training with little results during the first evolution stage was common but helped strengthen the future Gyarados.

The downside being that the gyarados might not want to stay with their trainer and may even decide to kill them purely out of the rage that evolution brought with them. So many trainers wanted a gyarados amongst their team, but smart ones decided to build up the rest of their team before hunting a gyarados already evolved instead of trying to train a magikarp.

Stlix took back both Graveler and Magikarp then and planned to return to the Pokémon centre, Steven said he would be by later after he had completed another task in the facility. Stlix in the meantime wished for a small training session with both Graveler and Tyrunt before he asked them to exchange with Floaty and Beda in several days, he also wanted to make sure they would stay training whilst away and if they knew what to do.

After he finished the training session, he went to have dinner with his cousin. Steven wanted to know about his journey so far and his future plans. Steven knew that Stlix was going upon the St Anne's cruise and compete in the tournament on board, but he didn't know what else that Stlix personally wanted to do.

"I plan to teach and train some more. I don't really care about competing in the conference, but I do want enough strength to travel, to work with other Pokémon without anyone trying to stop me. The world is massive, and I have only seen a tiny slice of it."

"That is understandable." Steven said. "But I will say competing in a conference has a unique experience all of it own. So, you may want to consider it in the future. I also know that you plan to travel deep into the wild places within the world, part of your reason for catching a Pokémon dedicated to healing but what about other necessities."

"Either I scrounge off of the land or I use secret power." Stlix shrugged. "Doesn't bother me, I think Corsola will probably be best with it when she gets bigger, but I will hold of for now."

They finished and Steven teleported out of the city, he had been there to see Stlix and the results of the examination but as Champion he was very busy. He had mentioned before disappearing that Lance wanted to see him and to be prepared.

It was three days of training later when Professor Oak called about Beda to announce she was extremely healthy, and her next evolution was on track. Sending off Graveler and Tyrunt for now he took Floaty's pokeball from the machine and collected Beda's when Oak sent it through.

Stlix had a strange idea, it was known that Magikarp evolved quickly when trained seriously and Magikarp had trained with Floaty for several days at the estate as well as with Stlix. He had a plan to see if Magikarp had a different move set alongside his typing and if he could therefore help him learn any different moves.

It was the day after that they returned to the small cove that they had trained at previously and Stlix had Floaty catch several of the wild Pokémon to battle against Magikarp. Corsola resumed her training from the previous sessions with training her movement and defensive abilities.

Beda had to practice her long-range damaging moves due to her inability to fight at close range in her Pupitar form. Her control over the surrounding ground and rock was improving with her proficiency with Rock throw and Rock slide, the moves involving a large amount of subconscious terrakinesis on the Pokémon's part.

Meanwhile Merry had taken over as a mothering figure for the team, going so far as to tell off Floaty for bringing to strong of an opponent for Magikarp to fight well. Her healing abilities had improved massively with evolution and heal pulse was a new move instinctive to a chansey.

Buddy had buried himself slightly in the cliff, snuggling up against the rocks and occasionally eating part of the cliff face. His dark steel form was near indistinguishable in the shadow of the cliff and Stlix was struck with how terrifying Buddy could be for some people.

In was during the lunch time break for training that a strange wave started forming out at sea. Creating a bow wave from several beings from beneath the water's surface Stlix could spy a small pack of Gyarados.

Heading straight for the beach he was currently sat on.
