Chapter 10
Ami closed the communicator and looked into the eyes of Raye and Makoto, worry laced in them completely. Her arms were wrapped around her as she looked into them.
"Thank god it's Friday night and we called Mrs. Tsukino to convince her that Usagi is staying over with me for study night, I just checked again with Luna, she still hasn't returned home. No one has seen her since she left the Arcade" Ami said it, this time her eyes pointedly at the raven haired senshi, accusation apparent in her eyes. An unsaid statement which Raye seemed to understand. Her posture changed, tensing up as she glared at the blue senshi.
"Are you trying to imply something?" Raye asked while tilting her head, her eyes seeming become darker purple, glowing slightly.
"Not much of an implication there" Ami said it while staring at her, her eyes which was usually soft and happy, now full of anger. Raye's eyes went even wider and a scowl overtook her.
"I can't believe this!" Raye hissed as she turned around, not enjoying the glances she was getting "Our lazy leader is slacking, didn't even bother to show up at our fight and you are targeting me! Oh yeah, that makes sense!"
"She never does this, clearly something is wrong. This is not laziness, something is wrong! Why aren't you worried?" Makoto shouted, her eyes blazed now "What's wrong with you? Why are you so against Usagi? It's as if you don't care!" her protective instincts of her friend was reigning high. Yes she was the newest senshi out of them but still she loved Usagi, the blonde was a good friend of her. Something which she saw clearly Ami appreciated, but Raye was something else. Her remarks towards Usagi was…was anything but friendly. It was vicious. How could she do this? Raye had known Usagi longer than herself yet she was being so heartless.
"Am I the only sane one here? Not enthralled by that blonde? She is incompetent! And complacent about that, I am the only one who trying to set her right" she spoke the words with a scathing remark, arms folded in a defensive stance.
"Nothing out of your mouth around Usagi has been constructive!" Ami cut in, her eyes wide as she glared now openly at the raven senshi "Who are you lying to, us or yourself Raye?"
"I don't need this" Raye stated, shaking her head harder now "Get out of my shrine"
Ami and Makoto didn't even looked shocked, neither did they look heartbroken. They simply turned around and walked away until they were directly out of the shrine. As soon as they were gone, Raye relaxed and turned around to make her way to her room but froze immediately when she saw that her grandfather was there, staring at her with his eyes wide.
"Grandfather, what are you doing-"
"Be careful Raye" he cut her off before she could even finish her sentence.
"What? Grandfather, what are you saying?" she looked at him in confusion but his eyes were simply sad.
"Be careful, there is darkness in you" she stiffened and her eyes went wide "Don't let it grow" her eyes blazed up even more, this time with anger and she scowled further.
"Now you're being ridiculous" without waiting for to see if he would say anything else, she left him in the living room, making her way directly to her room. Once she was inside, she slammed the door hard and leaned against it. Sliding down until she was directly sitting on the floor.
She felt no regret for what she had said in the arcade to Usagi. It was the truth. She was useless. It still angered her that that blonde was the princess. If her dreams were anything to go by. How was it fair that someone so undeserving like-like that blonde got everything that she wanted? She was the leader, she got the moon stick and whenever they would discover the silver crystal she would also be the princess. The princess she would have to give up her life for! And now she had Mamoru. She had Mamoru once again. A memory of the black and silver couple flashed in her mind before it went away. Anger overtook her. Why would Mamoru like Usagi once again? He wasn't involved in senshi business, and clearly his memories weren't back. So why was he suddenly into Usagi? Her hands turned into a fist as a fire burned inside her. No, she would do something. She wouldn't give up. She wouldn't lost him again. She lost him in the past but this time she has the edge, she has the memories and she would get him. Her thoughts were shrouded in cobwebs. A flash of blond hair and grey eyes came in her mind's eyes but they vanished before she could make sense of it.
Pain, pain was wrecking through Usagi's mind. She could barely see anything, all she could sense was pain. She whimpered and wrapped her arms around herself, as a ringing was all she could hear through her ear.
She heard a familiar voice call out and stopped shaking. Something about the voice seemed to catch her senses, seeming to sooth her pain but the pain was still raging through her. Taking a deep but painful breath, she opened her eyes after finally having enough strength and her eyes took in an unfamiliar room. Room she didn't recognise. Then she remembered what had happened to her, Zoicite! He had taken her, touching her. Worry ran through her but then he realised that she wasn't in the dark place anymore. Yes this was unfamiliar yet it looked more normal and civilised. Not in the Negaverse lair anymore. She started shaking as the pain went through her, again. If she wasn't in there then why was she in pain again?
"Usagi?" the familiar masculine voice called out and she turned her head to see that it was Mamoru and he was staring at her. He was away from her, near the window. Through her haze of pain she noticed that through the window instead of a silver glow of the moon, a red haze seemed to glow.
"Usagi?" he called again, this time he slowly started walking towards her, his eyes full of worry for her. She opened her mouth to say anything, possibly ask why she had come here but then she groaned in pain once again and wrapped her arms around her stomach. The pain-it was shooting through her. What was wrong with her?
"Usagi, what's wrong?" this time she looked up and Mamoru was closer now, leaning over her and the bed.
"Every-everything hurts" she uttered the words as she whimpered. Her eyes were almost losing sight due to the pain when she felt warm hands holding her face. To her surprise the pain lessened slightly and her eyes became clearer. Her eyes looked as Mamoru's clear blue eyes were looking into hers. She relaxed slightly in his touch, though the pain was still there. It was less in magnitude. Her mind became slightly foggy. Instinctively, without even thinking rationally, pain still ruling her, she gaining clutched his shirt and pulled him down until his full body was covering hers. His eyes wide while locked with hers. The contact seemed to lessen the pain even more and she leaned her head on his chin. He had been frozen but then slowly he wrapped his arms around her.
"Usagi…" he whispered while trailing his lips over her fringe. She didn't ask about the bizarreness of this, or how unusual this was. She was simply relieved that the pain was dissipating but still it wasn't completely gone. Curious she looked up once again to look into Mamoru's eyes, his face very close. Hands tightening against his shirt she pulled him down once again, breaching the distance between them, mewling in relief when she felt him kissing her with even more fervour.
Luna sighed mournfully as she curled up in Usagi's empty bed. To say she was worried would be an understatement. Having her missing for so long had her hackles up. She was worried for her princess. For her not to show up for the battle at all? That was not right. The only reason Usagi wouldn't come was if she couldn't come. So where was she?
Was someone holding her hostage? Was….was it possible that Beryl or the negaverse got their hands on her? The worry had been strong enough for her to almost cave in and tell the senshis about Usagi's real identity but she still held herself back. Not wanting to risk it. She was glad she hadn't. After Ami had called her and told her about Raye's behaviour she was glad she hadn't told the senshis about Usagi's real identity. Raye was behaving oddly, very oddly. There was no way she could be trusted with Usagi's real identity. Not now.
But still that didn't help. She was no closer in finding out where Usagi was and no matter how much she tried to reach out mentally she couldn't find her. She curled herself and looked out the window mournfully but then froze up. Shocked she jumped up until her head was out of the window. She couldn't believe her eyes. For her eyes took in the crimson moon.
"Blood moon…" the cat whispered as her eyes took in the shade "But there hasn't been in years, it can only happen when-" she froze up "Usagi!"
