Chapter 11
Usagi sighed into Mamoru's lips as she clawed right her hand tight on his ebony inked hair. Feeling bold and relief at the quick lack of pain which was dissipating, she wrapped her left arm around his neck, latching onto him tightly. She barely even resisted when she felt him wrap his arms around her and hitch her up.
Considering how she basically attacked him, she had no objection. She was malleable in his arms and she pulled him closer while he carried them off. She was in a haze of pleasure, all of her senses enthralled by Mamoru. His touches and his everything peeling her in, she felt gluttonous.
So lost she was in a daze that her eyes opened up wide in surprise when she felt her back hitting the silk sheets of a bed. It was then she gained some form of coherency. The fog cleared as she tried to remember how she found herself in this position, caged under Mamoru and the bed, though she had no objections.
The power inside her. When Zoicite attacked her she used her power to teleport herself. She remembered wanting to be safe, especially with the pain crippling her. A part of her latched onto that feeling of safety and somehow that place ended up being the bedroom of Mamoru himself. That surprised the life out of her. How did her power decide that Mamoru was safe? How could he make her feel so safe? And how is it that his touch was chasing away her pain? Though she had clarity for the moment she had more questions than answers.
Her train of thoughts then short-circuited when she felt a kiss on her neck. Her breathing hitched and she moaned as Mamoru kept peppering kisses all over her neck until he reached her collarbone. Before she could grasp clarity once again he bit her, causing her to let out another moan as she pulled him closer. She didn't think twice about pulling his face up until they were both kissing once again, lost in the haze. She let out another loud moan when she felt his hand trailing up her legs. The touch felt perfect, it didn't feel wrong like Zoicite's touch had been. This touch itself lit up a fire inside of her.
"Usagi..." Mamoru whispered between the kiss. Her eyes went to his when she noticed that he had pulled away. His eyes were rooted at her, eyes full of question as he gazed at her. Her own eyes softened when she realised what he was asking, what he was hesitating about. But she knew what she wanted, she was sure of it. So without saying anything she grasped his face and pulled him into the burning kiss, this time wrapping her legs around his waist tightly.
Something was amiss, this wasn't normal…but she couldn't find it in her heart to question it. It felt too right.
Lost in themselves, neither of them noticed the crimson moon which seemed to shine intently inside the room, or the silver shield which had encased them both in on the bed.
Ami and Makoto sighed as they sat and waited in Makoto's room. Usually most meetings took place in Raye's shrine but with the way she had been behaving they did not feel comfortable staying there, especially when it came to Usagi's well-being.
They had been walking to the Arcade when the communicator went off, a message from Luna to Ami. Luna stated that they needed to meet in her house because she had something very important to say about Usagi. When the girls mentioned about getting Raye, Luna vehemently replied negatively, blatantly stating she didn't trust Mars when it came to Usagi's current safety.
Internally Ami and Makoto had been feeling that. They even agreed, especially considering their last fight. But for Luna to state it as well. That had made it very real. Something was wrong with Raye. Her attitude towards Usagi was getting more and more…mean. It wasn't normal. Before they had noticed it was just a banter. Just light teasing but for some reason now…now it was outright bullying. It just didn't seem right. Makoto didn't understand. Raye knew Usagi longer than her, yet why was she treating her in such a way? In fact…now that she thought about it, as the days went, Raye just became more and more meaner. Until it all exploded yesterday. It just became too much. And she could pin point one common factor around which Raye just became meaner to Usagi.
"Ami…do you think Raye is mean so mean to Usagi because she is jealous?"
Ami blinked at that thoughtfully before she looked at Makoto, her eyes calculative.
"What makes you think that?"
"It's just, I realised Raye started becoming very mean to Usagi every time Mamoru was around. At first it was some comments but over time she became worse, but it is always its worst when Mamoru is in the vicinity. And Mamoru's attention is always on Usagi, never on her. Do you think she's jealous?"
"I think you might be right Mako-chan, I've noticed that pattern too. Though why she would do this for something like this. I don't understand. I feel like we need to have a talk with Mars. She can't do this, we are meant to be a team. Usagi is our leader, if she keeps undermining her over jealousy we won't be a team and we won't be able to protect the princess. She needs to realise that she can't walk over her teammates and that there are consequences." Ami stated, a frown marring her face.
"I couldn't agree with you more. But we have a different concern tonight. After this is done we will have a chat with Mars's insubordination." A new voice rang out. The girls turned to see Luna hope in from the window.
"Luna! What's wrong? You sounded really worried over the communicator." Makoto asked as she looked at the feline. Even now she looked stressed. Luna looked contemplative before she sighed and looked up at the window.
"Have you noticed the moon?" Both girls blinked in confusion at the seemingly random question. Rolling with it, they looked at the moon and did a double take. The moon, which was had a silver hue, was not fully red. A crimson burn. It was unnatural. Without a word, immediately Ami took out her mercury compact and tried to calculate the unnatural view but it wasn't registering it.
"What on Earth is that? What's wrong with the Moon?" Ami asked as they both looked at Luna inquisitively.
"That is the Blood Moon."
"Blood moon what's that-"
"Let me finish" Luna interrupted as she looked at them commandingly.
"Blood Moon is an event that hasn't taken place in thousands of years. It used to be a recurring event in the Silver Millennium. The Blood Moon is linked to the Lunarian lineage. Usually the Blood Moon would happen when the current Lunarian heir unlocks their moon powers. You see, Lunarian's powers are tied to their emotions and the moon. When they unlock their power, it is wild. There's only one thing that can amplify and stabilise it. It's their soulmate bond. Due to a gift from the Goddess Selene, every Lunarian born have a soulmate. The Blood Moon is there to find that bond. A lunarian under the Blood Moon would be in intense pain, it would cripple them, and they will stay in pain until they bond with their soulmate. The purpose of it is to induce that bond. Both sides would feel it and stray towards each other. But the Lunarian would be in pain and only the person who is their soulmate, only they can stop it. Any Lunarian who did not find their soulmate before the Blood Moon, would thus be in pain until the Moon forced their other half to turn up and complete the bond. It was Selene's way of ensuring that each heir had a stable bond with their soulmate before they took up their mantle as a Queen. Completing the bond would amplify the power the Lunarian has, making them stronger."
Ami and Makoto both blinked as they looked at Luna, digesting the information they got. It was a lot to process but they understood it. After few minutes of silence, Makoto was the one who spoke up.
"Okay so that means that our Princess has activated some powers of her. That's good. Why is that a problem?"
"You said, you said that the moon would cause the Princess to be in a crippling pain so that means that somewhere out there they are in pain and vulnerable. She wouldn't be able to protect herself" Ami theorised, worry in her eyes. Makoto then finally understood the urgency and grimness filled her.
"God, I feel so helpless. We are so shit we haven't found our princess yet and now she's vulnerable. We can't protect her, we don't even know her." Makoto lamented
"About that…" Luna interrupted them, "I already know who she is. We just need to track her down."
Ami and Makoto looked at Luna, they blinked in confusion as they thought about what she said.
"What do you mean that you know who the princess is? Don't just stare, say it!" Ami shouted as she looked at Luna with a confused glance. Luna stared at them contemplatively before she sighed and looked down, not facing their glances.
"Usagi. Usagi is the Moon Princess."
