Lieutenant Surge gave a nod, handed off several pokeballs to a waiting assistant and took four in return. He threw the first ball out without a word and Stlix watched as a thick set Luxio appeared from a red flash.
Stlix had read up on Luxios and their evolutionary line and because they were a pack-oriented species, they tended to have either the Rivalry or Intimidate ability. Knowing Surge's own famous power-based Pokémon, Stlix was willing to bet it had the Rivalry ability.
That ability gave a massive power boost to damage when they fought a Pokémon of the same gender. Stlix, despite knowing this, couldn't tell if the Luxio was male or female and couldn't decide who to pick anyway. Luxio were far more focused upon physical attacks as well without much of a Electric types famed speed.
Making his mind up he released Tyrunt onto the field, a challenging roar resounding as she saw the opposite Pokémon on the battlefield. The Gym leader didn't even raise a brow at the famously rare Pokémon only giving a quiet order to Luxio. Not knowing what the man said Stlix called for a new move Tyrunt had learnt.
With her training she had naturally learned a few extra moves, Dragon tail and Rock slide came naturally to Tyrunt. And with all her focus on strengthening her jaw she had learnt the stronger version of Bite. Crunch.
As Luxio darted forward with sparks spewing from their maw Tyrunt twisted on the spot and slammed a tail glowing with energy into the open jaw. Electricity discharged up Tyrunt's tail as Luxio flew back, rolling across the ground.
As Luxio fell back it gave Stlix a chance to see the fact that this Luxio was in fact female and would therefore deal far more damage to Tyrunt than she would usually. Stlix ordered Tyrunt to hit Luxio with Rock slide before following up with a Stomp.
As a great wave of stone shot towards Luxio as the Spark Pokémon jumped and leapt to weave around the falling rocks. Watching Luxio dodge the rocks Stlix called out another order instead of the Stomp even as Surge called out another order as well.
Swirling cold mist swarmed around the fangs of Luxio as Tyrunt empowered her own bite force with a Crunch. Ignoring the other Pokémon, they both sank their teeth into their opponent. The Ice fang freezing Tyrunt's stony hide and piercing through to the softer flesh.
Tyrunt's scream of pain was muffled by flesh, blood and fur as the dark type energy tore deep into Luxio's flesh. The Spark Pokémon giving a yell as the powerful jaws of the dinosaur tore through her flesh.
Stlix gave a small grin, it was evident due to the rarity of Tyrunts that Surge didn't know enough to effectively combat them. He shouted for Tyrunt to follow up with a Dragon tail to the shuddering Pokémon, Dark type energy was not a nice thing to experience for any recipient, even Fighting types with their own tougher bodies.
The second Dragon tail cracked into Luxio's bleeding side, tossing her across the arena and knocking her out cold. Surge gave another small nod before recalling back Luxio and sending out a Magneton. The magnet Pokémon hovering in mid air of the battlefield strewn with rocks from the earlier Rock slide.
Magneton was a curious Pokémon, technically it was still three Pokémon that had spent enough time together to attune each other's magnets to connect their own circuitry and neural connections. Similar to Metagross it had no gender, despite some people assigning names based upon the tone of their voices and reproduced based on splitting out a Proto-Magnemite.
Magneton's steel body would give an advantage over Tyrunt and after a swift thanks recalled her and sending out his newest evolved Pokémon, Gyarados.
The Dragon, Fire type landed upon the field with a roar. The large serpentine Pokémon coiling on the battlefield. It actually made Surge raise a brow at the Gyarados that was clearly not a Gyarados. The Lightning Lieutenant gave an appraising look across the dragon Pokémon that seemed to have been shot from a volcano.
Taking the initiative Stlix called out for Gyarados to use Flamethrower, the moves Gyarados had learnt upon evolving eclectic.
The great jet of flame shot towards the floating magnet Pokémon that, using the processing power unique to certain steel types, dodged the hit with just enough distance. Magneton responded with a Gyro ball towards the strange Atrocious Pokémon, Gyarados had no room to dodge or manoeuvrer and thus had to take the hit by sending a Dragon pulse in return.
The pulse of Dragon type energy clipped Magneton, making the Pokémon spin in the air letting out a Metal sound as it did. The terrible sound forced everyone in the room to clutch at their ears, Gyarados let out a thrumming roar in pain.
In pain Gyarados let out a massive blast of flame, it was a move that caused Doctor Rasen to jump with joy upon seeing that Gyarados knew it. It was meant to be impossible to learn upon evolution until Gyarados came along.
Fire Blast.
The most destructive Fire type move that near any Fire type could learn. The only move more destructive was Blast burn that could only be used by the special group of Pokémon that had been called, The Regional Starters.
The great plumes of fire roared towards Magneton, whilst nowhere near as powerful as a mastered move still required a lot of power to even charge up. If it hit the steel type significant damage would be done, likely knocking the Pokémon unconscious.
However, Surge had taught his Magneton how to fight against Fire type moves. A Light screen appeared as Magneton shot away to dodge the move. The Light screen took the brunt of the attack before shattering as the remnant flame raced towards Magneton.
It engulfed the small steel type, warping the body with intense heat. An electronic cry of pain resounding from the Pokémon as it slammed a Tri attack at Gyarados in return.
