As the flames dispersed Stlix could see Magneton, badly burned with parts of its body glowing a cherry orange, still floating in mid-air but listing heavily to the left. Magneton didn't look like it could survive a Tackle from Rattata in that state and Gyarados was raging mad but not heavily injured.

Gyarados shot a testing Flamethrower that Magneton dodged with a lot less grace than at first as Suge shouted something clearly for the first time.

"Zap Cannon." Possibly the most powerful Electric type move. It let out a bolt of lightning that put a lot of natural thunderstorms to shame. Magneton wasn't fully evolved or trained to a level to make it the most powerful Zap Cannon but similarly to Gyarados's Fire Blast any Pokémon that could use the moves had significant power behind them.

The move hit Gyarados dead on, the massive dragon unable to move, and the loud boom gave way to the roar of rage and pain. Surge knew that the next attack would finish Magneton and decided to hurt Gyarados as much as he could before then. It would also take more than one hit to cause paralysis in such a large Pokémon, possibly only slowing Gyarados momentarily.

Stlix didn't have to command the next move, Gyarados hated being hurt and being unable to reply and thus let out an even larger Fire Blast than before. Surge recalling Magneton before that as the move could have killed the weak Pokémon.

And then Lieutenant released a washing machine from a pokeball.

Stlix blinked at the sight. There was a large glass window in the centre enclosed by a plain orange body and a small hose where it would usually connect to a buildings supply. Stlix didn't do anything, completely bewildered at the sight of an appliance in the middle of the field.

Then the washing machine winked at him and let out a blast of water directly at Gyarados. It was clearly a Hydro pump that jetted from the washing machine's hose and Stlix was too shocked to react to it. Immediately after the Hydro pump cut off the washing machine let out a Thunder wave that raced through the water, shocking Gyarados and paralyzing the Pokémon completely from the Zap cannon from before.

As Gyarados stilled with electricity wracking his system the washing machine Pokémon let out a Ghost type move, Confuse ray. It was a horrible Ghost technique as it distorted the targets surroundings and can cause the victim to hurt themselves and everything in their surroundings.

As the strange, probably Ghost type Pokémon, did this technique did Stlix understand. Lieutenant, despite his penchant for overwhelming power, couldn't defeat Gyarados in this and thus was resorting to layering status conditions to ensure Gyarados would be worn down and taken down.

Plus, with the powerful Water type technique it would badly damage Gyarados with his weakness to Fire type attacks. His Dragon typing would reduce the effects but not completely. Even as he thought this the Ghost Pokémon let out a successive Thunder waves and Hydro Pumps. The moves whittling down Gyarados's vitality and with gritted teeth Stlix recalled his teammate.

Pulling out in his next pokeball he threw it out to reveal, Corsola. The Coral Pokémon would be far more resistant to this Pokémon's attacks in comparison to Beda. Beda would be badly harmed by the Hydro pump whereas Corsola's Rock typing would be more resistant to the Electric moves.

In addition, Corsola had learnt several new moves as she got stronger.

"Aqua ring, follow it up with Harden and Endure, then hit it with Power Gem." Stlix rattled out. Corsola, as she was out of water, was stationary and thus needed to be exceptionally hard to hurt. With Harden and Endure in use it would be hard to cause any significant damage to Corsola, combined with the Aqua ring any damage caused would be swiftly regenerated. The only risk being if the rings of water magnified any Electric moves, therefore Stlix asked Corsola to twist the ring so part of it touched the ground.

That would reduce the moves effectiveness but would prevent it being a detriment to Corsola.

Power gem shot out a stream of temporarily conjured crystal particulates that would scratch and tear apart the victim with the serrated edges. The move tore up the slow washing machine, damaging the machine significantly.

However, as the move started to destroy the machine there was a ghostly giggle and a Ghost appeared with a body made from plasma. Stlix recognised it then, a Rotom. He cursed himself slightly, Beda would have done far more damage to a ghost with Dark type attacks.

"Thunder wave."

"Ice beam."

The wave of electricity blasted out from Rotom and hit the rings of water, channelling down the watery pathways. The beam of Ice energy hit Rotom dead centre and send frost snaking around the ghost's form.

"Bubble beam then Power gem." Stlix followed up, to hit the slowed ghost. The Bubble beam would slow the ghost further and the Power gem hopefully knocking the Pokémon comatose.

The stream of bubbles bursting upon the ghost's body and causing a small watery film to close around Rotom's figure even as the powerful Rock type move hurt the weak bodied Pokémon.

As the move collide Rotom was knocked against the Gym's far wall and was obscured by a screen of dust and a bright crimson light that pulled it back into the pokeball. Lieutenant Surge didn't react at all before sending out his final Pokémon, Stunfisk.

The Trap Pokémon was a strange Pokémon, despite living on the seashore developed a Ground and Electric typing that was extremely uncommon. Plus, even with the Ground typing it was more resistant to Water type moves than normal due to living on the sea's shore.

"Fissure." Grunted Surge. The Stunfisk letting out a chirrup before ravaging the floor with Ground type energy that raced towards the helpless Corsola. The Coral Pokémon gave out a sad cry as she was knocked unconscious and was recalled quickly by Stlix.

Beda was sent out onto the field, floating gently using her gas production. She would be resistant to any Ground type moves as she could float above them.

"Muddy water."

"Stomping tantrum."

Stunfisk shot out a jet of dirt water towards Beda even as she slammed her body into the ground before Stunfisk, dodging the Water move and shattering the floor around the Trap Pokémon. It let out a scream of pain as its floor tore it up.

"Snap trap then Water gun." Surge snapped out.

"Payback." Stlix called with a smile.

Several grassy tendrils shot out of the earth to bind around Beda, holding her in place as the Water gun gouged out a groove in her armour. Beda released a blast of Dark type power, magnified with her pain and rage at being trapped and hurt.

The Dark type energy smacked into Stunfisk, driving it deeper into a rut in the earth, its body unable to move in the hole.

"Stomping tantrum, again." Stlix shouted. Beda forced herself to slam into the ground, not as hard as before because she was restricted by the grassy tendrils. The swirling earth ripping up around Stunfisk, magnified by the deep hole the Pokémon was in.

The last move knocked Stunfisk comatose even as Beda shuddered slightly in place, the grassy tendrils weakening as Stunfisk fell unconscious. Lieutenant Surge recalled Stunfisk and offered Stlix a small smile.

"Congratulations Stlix Stone, you have conquered the challenge in Vermillion Gym and have won yourself the Thunder badge." He threw a glittering yellow badge at Stlix who fumbled to catch it after he recalled Beda, to save her some unnecessary pain.

After saying that Surge turned and left the arena as Stlix raised the badge to see it properly before turning back to the Pokémon centre to get his team healed and to wait for the arrival of the St Anne.
