When the Gods call on you, you must answer. If you didn't have one, you had to find one. Diana was the answer. The strongest of her kind, she was blessed by the Gods like no other. But this task was monumental, and the queen needed to ensure victory, while giving her daughter the best chance to make it home in one piece.

Who could she send for assistance that had the power to make a difference? Who would be willing to give their life for the princess? Maybe, the one she loved, if it were to be assumed, he shared her feelings. The queen as well as the man himself, would discover if his love were true. If love conquered all, their victory would be assured. So, when Queen Hippolyta met with Goku, she didn't interrogate him as expected. She wouldn't pander to any man's ego, but she'd show respect to the one she would ask such a favor.

As they walked on the outskirts of Themyscira, there was no tension in the air. The beautiful sight and sound of waves crashing ashore calmed the Saiyan's nerves. Goku sensed no hostility from the Amazon queen. Odd, considering she was walking with the man who lived on her island for weeks, unbeknownst to her.

"Amazons are strong women, Goku. We are warriors who live and fight without fear. But when I became a mother, things changed. The fear I never felt for myself was felt for my daughter. I didn't want Diana to become Wonder Woman. I didn't want her to leave the island. Thankfully, man's world hasn't seemed to change her. And it won't break her. She's tougher than I imagined. I should be proud, and I am. Everything I didn't want to happen, happened, but I underestimated her. Diana's withstood every challenge that's come her way. I've been wrong and she's been right…so far. Who will be right about you? You must know by now how we Amazons feel about men, and what I'm expecting of you."

Goku knew. It's why he had to leave the island. It's what led to this moment. "You think I'm no good. No good for Diana. No good because I'm a man."

"Yet, you somehow convinced Diana otherwise. I don't know if I should be impressed or ashamed by my daughter's naivety. Soon, she'll be making a choice between you and us, and I fear she may be leaning towards you."

"I think you're right, but you should know I don't see this as a victory. You may see this as me vs you, but I'd rather Diana have both of us. That's what would make her happy."

"For now. She has a long life ahead of her and what she loves today, she may hate tomorrow. Once you've fulfilled your carnal desires, will you do away with her or remain committed until your life's end?"

Goku stopped walking and collected himself. His next words had the potential to damage his relationship with Diana and any relationship he hoped to be building with her mother.

"Since arriving in this world, the most consistent person in my life has been Diana. I've never had to question her loyalty to me. She's treated me so well from the start, I couldn't guess when she fell in love with me. Maybe, it's not a switch that can be flipped when we choose. Maybe it's something that grows overtime. If that's the case, I've fallen behind. Diana's love is so strong, she's willing to give up everything for me. It's exciting that someone feels that way about me, but it's scary because I'm not sure if my feelings are as strong. I'm not sure I'd make the sacrifices she's made. But I think I can grow to feel the same way. We're just further along in our relationship than I thought."

Rather than pollute the air with the breath of a liar, Goku honored the queen with his honesty. Had he exhausted himself trying to flatter her, Hippolyta would've seen right through him. But he didn't. And she knew. Telling the mother of your partner that your love wasn't as strong wouldn't be said to impress. However, it could be said by someone who needed to get it off their chest. Maybe by someone looking for guidance.

"I can't condone a relationship between my daughter and a man who's unsure of his love for her. I wouldn't approve of that for anyone. But all hopes not lost. What you need is time. With time comes challenges. Through them, your true feelings will be uncovered.

With Diana talking about marriage, Goku wasn't sure how much time he really had, "I'm not sure how long Diana can wait on me. For the sake of her feelings and our relationship, I don't want her to know these things. I don't want things to end before I have them figured out.

The inner conflict the Saiyan was going through would be manipulated by Hippolyta to benefit all parties. She wouldn't tell her daughter what the Saiyan had told her per his wishes. She still had a favor she needed to ask and needed him to do her bidding. If she could buy the Saiyan time, maybe he will come to love Diana, as she loves him. If not, she will already have gotten use of him. If so, he will have earned the right to have her. The queen would have to live with it. The one thing she couldn't do, is outright deny their relationship.

"I'll take care of Diana. You'll have all the time you need. But I told you they'll be challenges. Are you ready for your first?"

Delivering justice was how Diana spent her day. She thought it would keep her mind off the meeting between her mother and her lover. A thought that didn't translate into reality. From seeing her partner off this morning to her evening shower, she stressed over what might be happening on the island.

Making her way to her room, she wore a white shirt with gold edges, and a white skirt with gold trim. It wasn't much of a costume, but this was her superhero attire for the time being. While no longer Wonder Woman, she kept the name, as that's what the world knew her by. She hadn't thought of a new one, and "Diana" didn't have the same flair as when a thug says, "It's Wonder Woman!"

Opening the door, there he was, laying down in one piece.

"You're back," Diana said before jumping on the bed next to him and asking the obvious, "How'd it go?"

"Good."

Diana raised an eyebrow, "How good?"

Goku faced her and playfully whispered, "Really good."

"You're saying my mother accepted our relationship with no issues?"

"She worries we're rushing and wants us to take our time. For both our sakes."

"What else?"

"She says our love hasn't been tested yet and that challenges will come with time."

"That can't be it"

"There's something she wants us to do."

"I knew it."

"There's this God who betrayed all the others that we gotta take down."

"And what God is this?"

"I forget his name, but I be he's strong. He's the God of War."

Diana's eyes went wide, "Ares!"

"That's his name. So, you know him?"

"I do, and I can't believe my mother would tell me this through you. Forcing such a task on you through your love for me is so manipulative.

Diana sat up, "Let me guess, this is the test we must pass?"

"One of many."

"One of many! She's using us!"

"She said it was a task from the Gods."

However, she currently felt about her mother, Diana couldn't question the Gods authority, "If that's true, I can't say no."

Goku put a hand on her shoulder, "I would hope not. It seems like a decent fight is in front of us."

Diana placed her hand on top of his, "I would tell you this isn't going to be easy, but I don't want you getting too excited."

"We could use some excitement. They call me a hero, but I was a warrior first."

"Don't talk like you're the only one."

"Pssh, you? Let's see here. Stubborn. Long legs. Bad cook. Warrior would come somewhere after, but definitely not first."

The Amazon knew he was joking, but part of that wasn't funny, "I bet I could show you a thing or two… And did you say, bad cook?"

Her glare would surely make him backtrack, "I said great cook."

"Did you now?"

"The best."

"Thought so," Diana snuggled into him. There was something else she wasn't in a hurry to let go, "Long legs, huh?"

"And thick too."

She started kissing on his neck, before straddling him," I bet you miss my old uniform. Don't worry."

His hands were grabbed and placed on her thighs, "You're the one person who's not limited to staring. You have unlimited access."

Things were heading a little too far in the right direction. Diana was in the mood for some kissing and hugging, and while the Saiyan wished for the endurance to withstand her onslaught, he had purposefully brought this on himself.

When Queen Hippolyta told him about the God of War, he sensed worry. Worry about the being's capabilities. Worry for her daughter. Goku wanted to see if Diana would show the same concern. Knowing her, the Amazon's reaction would give him a better grasp of the situation. She clearly has respect for the God's power, which was telling, as that was a first. With that in mind, Goku changed the subject as best he could. He was starting to find that he hated seeing her worry. Even a little. It's just not what she does. And it's not necessary. Goku was back to his old self and was ready to unleash his power. Diana was going to see just how mighty her man is.

Ready to go to battle, Diana and Goku made it to the outskirts of Themyscira, where they were met by Queen Hippolyta and the Goddess Athena. Upon learning that this was indeed a quest from the Gods, Diana understood why her mother couldn't prolong telling her of this mission. But to include Goku? Was she trying to expose him as a weakling or worse, a coward? Little did the princess know, her mother had taken the stories she was told about the Saiyan into consideration and wanted him to come for her protection.

"Are you sure bringing a friend is for the best?" asked Athena.

While not knowing the full extent of his power, Diana knew Goku wasn't some weakling she'd have to supervise like a child, "Yes, he's a warrior with great power. Trust that I wouldn't throw a life away to make an impression."

Athena smirked, looking back and forth at the couple, "I don't doubt his ability. I doubt your ability to remain focused."

Diana blushed, as her mother revealed the truth, "It was my idea for him to come along."

This shocked the Goddess, "Really? I wonder what that conversation was like. It seems the only one of us not aware was me. Anyways, I have something for you both."

Athena handed Diana a pouch full of gold coins, "You two may be staying longer than intended. Ares has been building his army with his sons as generals. They've been attacking cities and will need to be dealt with as well. I'd recommend cutting off the branches of the tree before going for the trunk.

The Goddess opened a portal, "This portal will take you to the realm of Olympus. A guide will be waiting for you.

Diana didn't plan on this being a multi-day event. It's a good thing she didn't put a date on it when she told the league they'd be gone for a while.

She looked at her companion, "You ready."

"I'm ready."

The two walked through the portal, ready for the first real battle they would share.

Diana and Goku stood on a mountain just outside a city. As was said by Athena, their guide awaited them.

"You must be Athena's chosen. I am Harmonia, Goddess of Harmony."

The Goddess wore a light blue chiton, and her supernatural aura was all the more potent by the way she sparkled. So majestic. Who could birth such a creature?

Diana knew, "Goddess of Harmony. You're a spawn of Ares."

"Yes, Ares is my father, but I rebuke his conquest. I side with you to maintain harmony in Olympus."

The Goddess looked at Goku, "You've brought assistance?"

"Yes, I'm Diana of Themyscira, Athena's chosen. This is Goku. He's an excellent warrior that will help bring victory."

Harmonia began to fly, and they followed, "The city up ahead is where you'll be staying. It is also believed to be the next city Ares will Attack. My father has been growing his army, destroying every city that doesn't bow to him. When he came here, the people refused to worship him over the Gods that had protected and served them since the beginning of time. Ares left with a threat, saying whoever doesn't bow to him will be annihilated.

They landed, "Welcome to the city of Corinth."

The city was like ancient Greece with a supernatural twist. There was no old-fashioned mud brick to be found in the structures before them. Instead, the temples were crafted in marble so refined an outsider from an earthrealm city would assume its fake. Like the faux marble you'd find in the elegant estate of the wealthy, it was like being on a movie set about ancient Greece that only used 21st century props. The columns were built in the ionic style which in earthrealm would be of many and had strong multi step bases. Here, even the largest temples used the thin style which shouldn't be able to hold the roofs. Even more impossible was that the thin columns were designed without a base and somehow weren't collapsing under the weight they supported

Harmonia led them through the native dwellings until they reached their home

"This is where you two will stay. Though, we were only expecting you, Diana, I can get a more spacious place."

"This will be just fine." Diana bounced the pouch of gold in her hand, "It's getting late, and this one's got a big appetite. I'm going to backtrack to that shop we passed. Good evening, Harmonia."

The Goddess and Saiyan were alone, "Thank you, Goku, for helping us in an upcoming battle that doesn't concern you. I must go to my father's hideout."

"That can't be safe. Should I come with you?"

"No, it would be better if I do this alone. I don't plan to start a fight. My sister is being held captive by my father. I wish to help her escape."

"This is quite the family affair. How did all this happen?"

"One day, a Titan was released. My father charged his children to take it down. Enyalius, God of Leadership. Deimos, God of Fear. Phobos, God of Panic. Eris, Goddess of Strife and Discord. And myself, Goddess of Harmony. After our victory, our father told us we were ready. Ready to usurp the Gods of Olympus. That is what he had been training us for. It was him who had unleashed the Titans. It was a test. My sister and I were against it. I was able to escape my father's grasp. My sister wasn't so lucky. This is why I must go to her aid. Stay vigilant. My father's army could strike at any moment."

Diana and Goku settled into their place, and after eating dinner, went to bed.

Her arm draped over his chest, the Amazon closed the distance, invading the Saiyan's personal space, "This place is quite big enough, huh?"

"More than enough for me."

"When I got our food, I explored a little. This city is a wonderful place. We must not let Ares destroy it.

"He won't. Not with the two of us here…Diana, you seemed worried when I first mentioned his name. The battle being that much closer can't be helping. While a fight can happen at any moment, try not to think too hard about it. When it comes it comes."

"I was nervous at first, but now that we're here, I'm excited. This is how it feels. To go to a new world whose survival depends on your victory. To know up ahead lies a battle with a being strong enough to kill you but won't because you have your lover by your side. And you know that together, there's nothing you can't accomplish. I could do this forever.

Diana pulled Goku by the chin, "And hopefully, we will." And they kissed.

18 hours had passed since the mighty couple had arrived in Corinth. The army of Ares marched towards the city, exciting the Saiyan who knew this battle would be more enjoyable than any he's had on Earth thus far. Horrifying to many, to a warrior, it was a magnificent sight to see the army of minotaurs march together row by row as a well-trained unit.

Scowling, the large bull-headed creatures held their clubs, on guard, as the pair hovered over them. Diana increased her speed, spotting two of Ares' sons on top a mountain.

Deimos was bald headed with a long black beard. His shoulders were covered by pauldrons, the only armor that adorned his body. Opposite his brother, Phobos' entire body was covered in silver armor. His face was concealed, with a red mohawk sticking out his helmet.

The brothers watched their opponents come to them.

A beautiful woman and a man whose head is smaller than my fist. Deimos was not intimidated, "And who might you be?

"The resistance of the Gods. Because of who we represent I'll ask you to surrender peacefully."

"Of course. The Gods are so cowardly, they would never dare challenge us themselves. This is why Olympus needs new rulership. The only peace I'll be giving you is a piece of my cock when I spread your legs and-"

With a mouth more feral than the beasts who made up his army, Deimos earned himself a heavy right hand that sent him off the mountain. Before Phobos could react, he too was lifted off his feet, Goku giving him a kick to the face.

The Saiyan and Amazon gave each other a nod before backflipping off the mountain into the army of minotaurs. Goku elbowed an attacking soldier in the gut, causing the beast to drop his club into the enemy's hands. Tossing it to his partner, Diana bashed one over the head. Spinning around, she broke the weapon on the jaw of another. A group tried to rush the princess, but with her speed, the collection of attacks brung them no success. Ducking under a punch, she grabbed the arm and threw it into another. Jumping over a minotaur, she pulled its horns off, throwing them into the heads of two more. One opened its mouth to try to bite the Amazon, but the Saiyan appeared, shoving a ki blast down its throat.

"I suppose you thought I didn't see that coming?"

Goku embraced her banter, "He'd be picking your hair out his teeth if I didn't come when I did."

The pair were really doing a number on the army, but the fearlessness of the minotaurs was to be commended. Never stopping their attack, they rushed their enemies paying no mind to the bodies of their fallen brothers.

The combatants were dispersed by a shockwave caused by a fist hitting the ground. Coming from Deimos, it was the God of Fear's turn to fight.

He of course, attacked Diana, "You owe me an apology, bitch. And I know just how you're going to make it up to me. When I take you, it's going to be rough and exhausting."

Focusing too much on Goku's battle with Phobos, a fist caught Diana's face.

Meanwhile, Goku was unable to fight to his full potential. As a martial artist whose style was a calm focus, his ability to relax was hindered by his overthinking.

Now. No…Now. Wait, it's not time yet. He could counter. He's looking to counter. Got him.

Before he could counterattack, Diana interfered, "Don't worry, my love. I'll protect you."

What, I couldn't have been doing that bad.

Bewildered by the Amazon's interruption, he barely avoided a boot to the head. He engaged Deimos cautiously. There was something about the God. His eyes. His eyes had the same deranged look as Majin Buu's. The eyes of destruction.

Goku thought back to Namek. The fear the Namekians had when Buu arrived. The fear he had when he thought he was too weak to win. In that fear, he found power. But before he could unleash, Diana, once again, interrupted.

"I'll handle this. Please retreat, my love."

Diana was concerned for her partner. Too concerned.

Before Goku could object, he saw Phobos trying to sneak attack the Amazon, and stopped him with a ki blast. He couldn't focus his thoughts. Diana was treating him like a baby. And his heart was beating 100 miles per hour. All the uncertainty…All the disrespect…Gave birth to a feeling he knew all too well…Rage.

Charging without restraint, Goku shot his fist through the armor, through the torso, and out the back of the God.

Only as he watched the light fade from the God's eyes did Goku realize what he had done.

"Phobos!" Deimos couldn't believe it. His brother defeated by a mere mortal; vengeance would have to wait. Running away as fast as he could, the God of Fear felt what his title suggest. Diana didn't give chase, her number one concern, her lover's safety.

Wrapping her arms around his neck, she hugged him as tight as can be, "It's over now, my love. Tell me you're okay."

Goku just stood in her embrace, unable to wrap his brain around her actions, as well as his own.

Back home, Goku was tired of trying to calm Diana down. Though, he didn't say it, he was upset with her. The Amazon spent the night crying over the Saiyan, repeating how she would make sure to do a better job protecting him and that he didn't have to fight in the next battle if he didn't want to.

Laying on his side, he refused to face her. About an hour before they had gone to sleep, Diana asked in a more normal tone, "Beloved, are you mad at me?"

"…"

"I know, I should've done a better job protecting-"

"No, Diana, you should've trusted me."

With nothing else to say, Diana could only hope he'd forgive her. She put her arm around him, and he touched her hand. He already has.

Thank the Gods. I'll do better, beloved. I promise.

Goku back peddled leaving himself just out of reach of the God's attacks. Wanting revenge, Deimos had returned with his brother Enyalius the next night and the rematch had begun. Enyalius wore gold armor. Without a helmet, he appeared a young man with long red hair, though he was clearly a more experienced fighter than his brothers. He fought confidently, but with the poise to not leave any openings. Basic as he was, Goku was impressed.

Though, in the middle of her own fight, Diana couldn't help herself. She blindsided her lover's opponent, kicking him into a mountain.

"Diana, I had it under control."

Goku caught Deimos with a kick to the chin and then a flurry to his exposed torso, "You completely forgot about him. You know, the one you were fighting."

The brothers regrouped and charged the duo. Together, they were much more formidable, and for some reason, Deimos' fighting skills were now on par with his brother's. Knowing he could take these two by himself, Goku was getting frustrated. Diana was getting in the way. She wasn't fighting to win. She was defending him so he wouldn't get hurt.

What is she doing? This is not the Diana I know. She's a warrior that doesn't fight with fear. It doesn't take four eyes to see I can handle myself. What's going on?

Stepping in front of him, he couldn't commit to his counterattack, as she was hit by both brothers, knocking Goku and herself to the ground.

While Deimos had that deranged look, Enyalius remained calm and poised, "See, brother. Together, we will defeat them. Just follow my lead."

Just follow my lead…Follow my lead…Follow…Your…Lead!

Ready to usurp the Gods of Olympus."

"Diana!"

"Are you hurt, my love?"

"No, you are! But it's not your body, It's your mind. You're sick. Or it's a spell. Whatever it is, it's coming from them.

Goku got up, and with speed faster than Zeus could call forth lighting, struck the brothers. He could end this himself, but he wanted Diana to join him. The real Diana.

"Diana, listen to me. The Gods have been using their powers against us. When I fought the other one, yesterday, I couldn't think straight. I attacked with no control of my power. I panicked. Every time you fight the bald head guy, you can never focus on him because you fear for my safety. Get it, fear. And he couldn't land a punch on us until he was led by his brother. The God of Fear. The God of Panic. The God of leadership. That's who we've been fighting and their using their gifts to weaken us."

"By Athena! You're right! How do we beat them?"

"The God of Leadership is just a man when fighting by himself. And fear…Do you remember what we talked about my second day on Themyscira?"

"A rational fear? Fear is about the most irrational emotion there is."

"I would disagree," said Goku calmly. He knew it was time for a real lesson. "Fear represents a need for safety. It can cause you to think twice before making a stupid decision. Fear can also give you strength. You may not fear for your own life, but what about the lives of others? I fear failure, because I know how much losing can affect those who depend on me. It makes me fight that much harder."

Diana of course, made his words make since from a warrior's perspective, "Fear causes panic, which increases adrenaline, heightening your senses, making you fight better. I've felt that before, but I've always used it to my advantage."

"Yep, there are no useless emotions. Just don't let them work against you. Fear, sadness, anger, are all normal, but it's the choices we make because of these feelings that tell us who we really are."

"I do."

"Good. You know what you should fear? Disappointing the Gods. That your mother's right and I'm just a coward who will slow you down if not get you killed. That we'll never get married."

"I fear all those things."

"Good, now make them your strength."

Goku kissed Diana, furiously, "You wanted this forever. Forever starts now."

Enyalius shook off the pain, "That was a disturbing show of strength."

Deimos finished climbing himself out the rubble, "He'll pay for that."

"Relax, Deimos. And follow my lead."

Even with the God of Leadership charging ahead of his brother, they couldn't match the cooperation of their opponents. A ki blast to the face blinded Enyalius. Diana, following up on the advantage, gave devastating blows to the God's body before flipping over him and charging Deimos. Hunching over, Enyalius looked up, seeing a boot flying towards him that he couldn't escape due to the pain.

Diana's attacks were fueled with fear. She wouldn't let those things her lover told her come to past.

Getting beat up by the Amazon, Deimos was finally starting to understand what he was up against, "How? You should be afraid of me."

"All the more reason to put you out of your misery."

Diana casually caught his punch, squeezing his fist in her hand while using the other to continue giving him a beating. With his hand caught, he had to take it, and every blow was breaking his spirit.

Goku seemed to have a limitless supply of martial arts techniques, hitting the God of Leadership with moves he'd never seen before. With no hope to defend, the damage piled on the God's body until it took all his strength just to stand.

Diana wasn't trying to be sadistic, but she needed to make the God of Fear pay for the embarrassment he caused her.

Beating on the swollen face of the God, she taunted him, "I thought you liked it rough. You promised me a good time, didn't you?"

Of all the fear he caused, the only one in fear right now was Deimos. Knowing his life was at its end, he looked towards his brother, the only person who could save him.

Any hope of a rescue was taken away by the sight before him. On his knees, Enyalius stood barely conscious as the Amazon's companion struck a foreign pose and made a peculiar noise.

"Ka-Me-Ha-Me-Ha!"
