It is night time as the group exit the orphanage.
"Hey, Reito," Jason said. "If either one of us had been alone with that drunk woman, I get the feeling that she might have gone into rape mode."
"Er, yeah," Reito said with humorous unease.
"You know you would love it," Akane teased Jason as she cuddles in close to him momentarily.
The drunk woman in question was the woman who was already drinking when they first showed up. She hung around Reito and Jason, though she ended up paying more attention to Jason. He could smell the alcohol on her breath as she spoke affectionate words in broken English while touching and stroking him, even going as far as to cop a feel of his bottom and crotch. The old woman would tell her off, only for that drunk to snap back at her.
They get into the van and are soon on their way. Eventually, they arrive at the docks and get out to take in the view of a large ship moored there.
"That is the way out," Rea said while pointing out that ship.
"Come on, let's go aboard," Mahiru said as she hurries toward the boat.
The rest fall in line and board with her. Jason does a double take upon noticing that Reito, Rea, and Mira have yet to board.
"What's going on?" Jason asked no one in particular.
"It looks like Katagiri-san and Mira-san are not coming," Akane answered. "They are a part of the UW after all."
"What has that got to do with anything?" Jason asked.
"If they were to come with us, the UW would become even more eager to pursue us as it would be treason for them to leave," Akane answered.
"Oh? And I suppose the UW will not be eager enough to come after us still?" Jason quipped.
Movement in Jason's peripheral vision causes him to turn and see a girl wearing a hooded white robe briskly walk up to him.
"Another male!" The robed girl gasped in English as she touches Jason. "Where did they find you?!"
"Once we get settled away, everything will be explained about Jeeson-kun," Akane said.
Reito boards and the hooded girl turns her attention to him. "Hello there, Mizuhara Reito, I am from Izunami." She lowers her hood to reveal that she has short bleached spiky hair.
"She is with Izunami," Akane explained to Jason. "The group that kidnapped the final male and hijacked the airwaves to voice their opposition to the UW."
"S-So are we being kidnapped?!" Jason fretted.
"Relax," the Izunami girl assured. "This is not a kidnapping, this is just an escape."
"So are we heading to Niigata, since you people are supposed to have a base up there?" Reito asked.
"No, we are going to Taiwan," the Izunami girl answered.
"I understood Taiwan," Jason said. "What's this about Taiwan?"
"That is where we are going . . . ah?" The Izunami girl answered, only to get stuck for his name.
"Jason. Jason Welsh. But why Taiwan?"
"Because we have another base down there," the Izunami girl answered.
"Really?" Jason mused. "Do you have any over in North America?"
"No, because the UW presence is too strong over there," the Izunami girl answered. "The fact is that most Izunami bases are located throughout East Asia with our headquarters here in Japan."
"So most Izunami members are Japanese," Jason concluded.
"Yes," the Izunami girl admitted. "We can continue this conversation after we cast off. It will be a two-day journey to Taiwan."
The ship is fired up and the mooring lines are released. Soon, the ship is on its way.
During the time they are traveling over the ocean, Reito converses with Kyoji Hino through a tablet over the deep web. He gets a look at Jason and vice versa as Jason is standing alongside Reito, but is unable to communicate with Jason due to not having even a basic understanding of the English language.
"We found him quite by accident out in the wilderness at an abandoned inn," Reito explained. "He had been hiding in Japan for the past five years after this Outbreak occurred. And of course, this makes him the fifth male to be immune to the MK Virus because he also had cellular sclerosis and was cured of it."
"So has he mated with anyone?" Hino asked.
"No, he hasn't. In fact, he was going to be sent to the UW headquarters over in America as soon as possible."
"I bet he must be disappointed."
"I don't think he is."
"Anyway, can you speak English, Reito-kun?"
"Yes I can. Do you want me to speak to Jeeson-san for you?"
"Yes. Ask him what does he think of this new world?"
Reito asks Jason the question Hino had asked and Jason answers through Reito. "Bewildering. Very very bewildering."
"I just bet," Hino chuckled. "What with-"
Only for the screen's image to suddenly blur and go dark. Muffled talking can be heard over the speaker. Jason and Reito exchange looks of concern as they both now understand that what they are looking at is a bedsheet covering Hino's tablet.
Reito shuts off his own tablet.
"I think I recognized that voice," Reito said. "It was Chroe-san."
"You think he might get punished?" Jason asked.
"I think he already is being punished because Hino-san told me that they ended the Mating Program."
"So I was right about the UW not approving of what Japan was doing after all; which means that Minister of General Relations didn't approve of it either, or else she would not have turned on her fellow ministers like she did. I wonder how the UW will maintain the human race without using us men?"
"About the only viable means is by using ova to graft onto other ova or using artificial sperm cells, but it will mean becoming completely dependent upon reproductive technology; something that will last only for as long as civilization is functioning. But the problem is that civilizations eventually come to an end, meaning the human species may come to an end. I simply must create that vaccine."
"Yeah, before this UW permanently puts humanity on a collision course with extinction. But I still think we got away much too easily. I mean . . . the UW clearly knows that we have escaped by now and should've sent the navy after us. They do have a navy, don't they?"
"I don't know."
The ship eventually reaches Taiwan where they dock at Chiilung and get off. An SUV is nearby.
"There's our ride," the Izunami girl said while pointing at the SUV. "It'll take us to Jiufen, a tourist town where Elisa awaits you, Reito-san."Ji
"Hard to believe that his girlfriend is a part of a terrorist organization," Jason quipped.
"Izunami is not a terrorist organization," the Izunami girl said defensively. "I cannot explain it here, but later I will. Now follow me."
They all get into the SUV and are on their way to Jiufen. Once there, they get out.
"Reito-san, Jeeson-san, we are in a more crowded area," the Izunami girl cautioned. "You better disguise yourselves."
"That may be hard to do," Jason said. "Especially since I'm a lot taller."
"There is an umbrella in the SUV that you can use," the Izunami girl said.
Mahiru does a search of the interior and crawls out with a white umbrella and gives it to Jason, who opens it to hold it low so as to hide as much of his face as possible.
"Let's just hope that everyone else around here thinks that Reito and I are very ugly women," Jason sighed.
The group follow the Izunami girl up various stairs, of which this tourist town is noted for. Jason sneaks views of the people going to and fro or standing around. All female. This makes Jason wonder how the Taiwanese females disposed of their dead males, since the island nation is far smaller than Japan and burials would have been out of the question and their crematoriums would have been overloaded. So like in Japan they must have done mass cremations out-of-doors, no doubt having to use gasoline or white gas to make the corpses burn.
Then there are the so-called disguises that he and Reito are using, paper-thin at best; making Jason wonder if there is some sort of glamor on himself and Reito.
"There she is," the Izunami girl said while stopping and staring ahead.
They look past her and see a girl wearing a baseball cap further up ahead standing at the top of a staircase staring intently back down at them. Jason keeps his umbrella low so as not to be readily noticed. Reito walks past them and continues onward until he is close enough. The girl removes her cap and Reito runs up the staircase and hugs her tightly. Mahiru also hurries past them, causing the rest to follow.
"Elisa-chan! It is so good to see you again!" Mahiru exclaimed as she hugs her too.
Jason walks up closer and lifts his umbrella, causing Elisa to do a double take at him and let go of Mahiru to cover her own mouth with both hands in shock. "A-Another male?!"
"Yes, we found him at an abandoned inn we had to stay at," Reito explained as he looks back at Jason. "His name is Jeeson Wershu-san and he was hiding in Japan for the past five years because he got trapped when the Outbreak started. And as you can see, he too is immune."
"We should all go somewhere and have a talk," the Izunami girl said, then points elsewhere. "And I know just the place. It is nearby and is a restaurant. I even ordered lunch beforehand."
"Talk about planning ahead," Jason quipped.
"Listen, I'll take Sui and Mahiru on a tour until it is time to go," Akane said.
"That okay with you two?" Reito said to them.
"Okay," Mahiru said.
"Very well," Sui said.
"Head back to that ship we came on in one hour from now," the Izunami girl instructed Akane. "We may not be there right away, but nevertheless still do so."
"Will do, see you all soon," Akane said.
"What was that all about?" Jason asked Reito.
"They were just told to go and enjoy themselves until it was time to meet up," Reito answered.
They follow the Izunami girl to a restaurant and enter. There sitting at a table is another familiar woman.
"Maria-san?!" Reito gasped upon recognizing her.
"R-R-Reito-sama! Jason!" Maria stuttered.
"What are you doing here?!" Reito asked intently as he pulls out a chair to sit next to her.
"Th-Th-They got me out of the country too," Maria said while gesturing at the Izunami girl. "I got here this morning."
"That's great!" Reito said happily.
"A-A-And you must be Tachibana Elisa," Maria said to Elisa with a bow while still sitting. "I am Kuroda Maria and I was assigned to help Reito-sama create a vaccine for the MK Virus."
"I am pleased to meet you too," Elisa said to Maria, then with a bow. "And thank you for taking care of my boyfriend."
The group sit at the table with Maria and lunch is soon served. It consists of a large tray with foodstuffs that Jason is not familiar with, though the large steaming teapot he recognizes and the teacups, but not the smaller teapot. The Izunami girl picks up the larger teapot and starts pouring the hot water out over the smaller teapot.
"This is how you boil the tea," the Izunami girl answered while still pouring.
"Why?" Jason asked.
"Because these type of tea leaves are extremely delicate," the Izunami girl answered while still pouring. "Heating them the usual way will spoil their flavor."
The Izunami girl puts the large teapot down and picks up the smaller teapot to pour the tea into each teacup. They each take one.
"Hmm, that's good tea," Jason mused after taking a sip, then in a more serious tone as he glances around. "But are you sure this is a good place to be? What about those women over there? They've been staring at us ever since we got here."
"Don't worry, they are also with Izunami," the Izunami girl assured him.
"Your organization must be powerful to do the things it's been doing," Jason mused.
"Izunami is not an organization," the Izunami girl explained, then starts gesturing with her hands as if she were trying to feel something imaginary. "What I mean is that it is made up of different groups of women who are united for a common cause."
"That being their opposition to the UW?" Reito asked rhetorically.
"Exactly," the Izunami girl pointed out. "Izunami wants to overthrow the UW."
"And what will Izunami do after they have succeeded in that task?" Jason asked. "Become the new UW?"
"Well now that is where they all truly differ from one another," the Izunami girl admitted. "Each group has their own view of the world hereafter."
"The world hereafter?" Reito inquired.
"They each have their own idea of how the world should function after the UW is gone," Jason explained.
"Then what of the one you are a part of?" Reito asked the Izunami girl. "What sort of world do they want?"
"They want to create a primitive world using the Numbers as slaves," the Izunami girl answered.
"C-C-Could they be using the final male as a sex slave?" Maria gasped as she raises her hands to her own face.
"Are you serious?!" Jason rasped with humorous disbelief.
"Yes," the Izunami girl answered.
"So have you . . . ?" Jason asked while trailing off, not wanting to finish it.
"No, I have not mated with the final," the Izunami girl answered. "Although I have heard that he is being forced to mate with lots of different women almost every day."
"Death by snu snu," Jason quipped.
"Eh?" the Izunami girl inquired.
"Ah, nothing, it's nothing," Jason waved briskly, then more seriously though still humorously. "But what if . . . that particular group of Izunami had stumbled upon me instead of Reito and his ladies . . . ? Would they have . . . you know."
"They probably would have," the Izunami girl smirked slightly.
"But . . . I'm not Japanese," Jason stated as he spreads his hands momentarily.
"If five males are all there are ever going to be of the current male population of humanity," the Izunami girl answered in a tone of finality, "then I sincerely doubt that women the world over are going to care about the race and ethnicity of you Numbers."
"Numbers?" Jason inquired.
"That means you four-no five-immune males," the Izunami girl answered, then turns to Reito. "But on to more serious matters. Reito-san, we would like you to accompany us to Hong Kong. There, we can plan to get the Numbers and the various members out of the UW's grasp and into safehouses."
"Hong Kong," Reito repeated.
"Ch-China has always been opposed to the UW, regardless of what province you are in," Maria added.
"When will we be going?" Jason asked.
"After we finish our lunch," the Izunami girl answered.
They do so and meet up at that ship they arrived on where Akane, Sui, and Mahiru await them and are soon on their way for a trip that will last all day and all night to Hong Kong.
