Oh MY GODS GUYS! YOU WON'T EVEN BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENED!
MY BROTHER BROKE MY COMPUTER THE DAY AFTER I POSTED THE LAST CHAPTER!
We had to take it in to be fixed because it was honestly useless without being fixed, nothing would work, which means I couldn't update or write at all! :(
Stupid brother...
So yea, we took it in to be fixed and I even had to pay extra to get it delivered today.
When I got back home, I hurried to finish the chapter, which is why it's so bad (in my opinion)
So yea... I know that's no excuse but I'M SORRY!
I had almost finished walking through the forest to where Toothless is hiding when I realized three things;
1. It's the middle of the day so Toothless with probably be sleeping
2. I forgot to bring fish for Toothless
3. Even if Toothless is sleeping now, he will wake up when he hears me coming
I better bring fish so if he does wake up, or is already up, he won't starve since he can't get out of there.
So, with that in mind, I managed to go to the docks, get some fish, and leave without what happened last time recurring.
*****TIME SKIP******
I finally reach the cove, out of breath due to the huge basket of fish with me. I go towards the entrance, which is different than the one I used before. It's smaller and narrower.
Hopefully, the fish will fit. I know I will since I'm the 'twig Viking' according to everyone.
I managed to get through the opening but I am stupid enough that I don't check to see what I would be landing on. Nothing.
With a shriek, I fell straight down-thanks gravity- and landed lying down on the grassy floor. I was still in a state of shock so I just laid there. I kept my eyes closed until I heard a rumble from above me. My eyes snapped open and directly above my spot on the floor, on a ledge that I somehow didn't land on, Toothless was just sitting, looking at me with a cocked head.
He looks like a puppy! Well… a big, black, scaly, fire breathing puppy.
"Hey, Toothless." I groaned, feeling the effects of the fall. He seemed to have a concerned look on his face before he jumped up and glided gracefully down to the floor, right next to where I have yet to get up.
I slowly stood up and walked over to where the entrance is, and outside of that, the fish.
"Now how am I gonna get the fish from out there too in here? Maybe if Toothless…"
At the sound of either the word 'fish' or his name, Toothless came over and looked at me before joining me in staring at the entrance, where his food was waiting.
I turned to face him and pointed up at the entrance before slowly saying "your fish is up there! I need your help to get it for you! Do you understand?" like I'm speaking to a small child.
He looked from me to the entrance, and from the entrance to me, before doing something that once again, made me question everything I knew about dragons; he nodded.
"Wait wait wait! Hang on a second, mister! You can understand me. Like you know what I'm saying?" I asked. Once again, Toothless nodded. While I was trying to process that informaiton, he moved close to the wall of the cove and braced his front legs on it before gesturing to me with his head. When I didn't move over to him, he growled impatiently and gestured again.
"You want me to come over to you?" At his nod, I did. "Okay, now what?"
He lowered his body to the floor then stuck out a paw. "You want me to climb on your back?" He shook his head. "You want me to copy you?" Another head shake. "SO WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO?!" He got up with a huff and moved slightly away from me, and looked up. I guessed he was deciding something because he nodded then crouched low. He stayed like that for a few seconds before running forwards and leaping.
He flapped his wings a few times before swiping a paw at the entrance. Then all I saw was fish, coming down right above me. Next thing I knew, Toothless was beside me and I was in a pile of fish… again.
"Really?" I whined, "Did you have to do that? Now I'm going to smell like fish all day!"
But of course, Toothless didn't even acknowledge me, he only ate more of the fish.
"Anyway, I have an idea." At this, he stopped eating and looked at me.
"But…I need to see your tail fin first." That's where it all goes wrong. His pupils became slits, and he started growling and slowly moved towards me, looking much more like the 'unholy offspring of lightning and death' than ever before.
"Toothless! I don't want to hurt you! I just want you to fly again and be free!" I shouted frantically, gesturing like crazy in an attempt to soothe him and probably keep me alive.
Then, like a moody puppy, he became the adorable, innocent, calm dragon again. Only now he had an almost shocked look on his face.
It was all silent until I asked him once again to see his tailfin. This time, however, he nodded slowly before bringing his tail around until it was in both of our views. I walked towards him and kneeled once I am in touching distance.
"May I?" He only snorted and shifted closer so I took that as an OK.
I ran my hands along the scarring and noticed him flinch. I jerked my hands back and quickly apologized but he shook his head and put his tail in my hands again.
With eyebrows raised, I slowly looked it over and using my hand as a measuring system, mapped out the dimensions of his tail.
"Thanks for that bud," I said reaching out to pat him on the side of his head but quickly froze, realizing that might be crossing a line. But all he did was look at me and push his head into my palm.
I laughed slightly because who would have thought that 'helpless Hicca' would be able to befriend a dragon. A dragon that was curling around me?!
That was indeed correct. Toothless had wrapped himself around me and using one of his wings, gently pushed me to lay down under it. I felt surprisingly comfortable and safe, being surrounded by a dragon, the 'legendary night fury' no less.
I started to feel really tired and took half notice that it was now dark out. The last thing I could remember before falling asleep was Toothless nudging his head gently against mine before settling down himself.
I woke up when I felt the early morning sun warming my face. I jerked, gaining Toothless's attention and managed to get out from under his wing. I patted his head quickly and ran towards my usual exit/entrance point. I am never going the other way again.
"I'll come to visit you tomorrow… with a new tail fin!" I shouted, almost falling over in my hurry.
When I had climbed out of the cove, I looked back with a grin to see him frozen, just staring at me, and with that went back home.
Don't forget to review! :)
