With every step that she took Blue Diamond unconsciously unleased her powers. What random gems she passed as she entered the town immediately felt themselves be overcome with worry. For that was the main that she kept feeling as she slowly searched through the barley illuminated town trying not to think about all the things that could have happened to Steven.

"Where could he be? What if he's hurt?! What if he's frightened and nobodies around to help!? I have to find him!"

She stopped and looked in a nearby window as something caught her eye. Or to be precise in the window's reflection. Turning her head she saw Steven's massive pink Lion gently nudging a human food machine tying to get one of them to fall down.

As she got closer lion raised up and slammed into the machine causing a pink and white item to drop out which he happily retrieved.

"You there Lion was it? Can you take me to Steven? It's imperative that I find him immediately."

Lion's only response was lick one of his paws and roll over.

Using what self control she had she held in her scream as her power sent out a small wave of frustration that instantly got Lion to his feet.

"Good I have your attention, now I need you to take me to Steven."

She'd be lying if she told herself she hadn't been wanting to do this for some time. Ever since she learned how to shrink her form and been introduced to his Lion she'd wanted to try riding him. Sure she had a custom palanquin but after seeing Steven riding on him multiple times the urge had only grown.

Lion shook his massive mane before kneeling down and allowing Blue Diamond to get atop him.

The moment she felt his fluffy mand under her palms she let out a small chuckle.

"Alright now to Steven!"

Lion sniffed the air before he started running gaining speed before roaring into a portal.

As she clutched his mane as he rapidly approached her destination she had one single thought.

I'm going to do this again next time!

The portal died down with a explosion of light as Lion ran into a small cave before collapsing.

"Lion?" she asked worried when he barely raised his head. His response was an exhausted huff before closing his eyes as she looked around.

"You poor dear, well you rest and when I find Steven I'll carry you back to town."

Once she entered the cave she sadly learned that it was empty. Yes there were signs that someone was living here with the pillows and cushions but other then that it was empty. Slightly annoyed she was turning to leave when she saw a small patch of pink amidst the pillows.

Immediately she knew it was Steven's jacket as it reacted to her powers and changed blue for a moment. A hundred things crossed her mind as the small bit of fabric fell to the floor.

He was here!? But how long? Hours maybe… Where could he be? What can I do?

As she held herself back she noticed the footprints at the entrance of the cave. There were a few sets but she recognized the three flat prints as well as Spinel's big print in the middle.

"So they were all here? But why would they bring him all the way out here. We'll no matter I'll simply call and find out."

But as she reached out her hand to connect to Pearl's screen her hand made contact with the empty air and it was then that she remembered that Earth didn't have a gem communications network and as such she couldn't simply contact someone by pressing a button.

"Why didn't Steven allow us to build one for him? All it would take is for us to rebuild a few simple structures around the Earth. We could even put them in places with little organic life."

However as she learned her head against the cave she already knew the answer.

"Because Earth is fine the way it is. His go to answer for everything involving his home."

As she excited the cave she saw the tracks led away and toward the town.

"So they're heading back huh? Lion are you ready to move yet?" his response was a weary roar before flopping down.

"Alright you big pink beast you this time I'll carry you back."

She scooped him up and started the long journey back to the town following the tracks as best she could.

One the other side of the city Yellow Diamond had just reached little Homeschool and after moving through the small crowd that had gathered she tried to find the few gems that she actually knew were here.

Thankfully it only took a few moments to find one after she neared the forge.

Bismuth turned away from her half-forged weapon as for the second time recently she heard a big ruckus and after cooling her hand walked outside only to come face to face with Yellow Diamond.

Even after all this time she still held a massive anger toward the Diamonds and as such usually made herself scarce when they visited.

"SO what brings the mighty Yellow Diamond to my forge?" she asked wanting to get whatever she wanted done and try to burn the image of the impatient diamond out of her mind with a good lava bath.

"Charming, well if you must know I'm looking for Steven. Our Pearls….and Spinel were sent to retrieve him some time ago but they've not reported back and I'm beginning to grow worried. I need to find him and make sure he's alright. If anything on this primitive mudball has even slightly harmed my little Steven I'll electrocute it into dust."

Bismuth actually had to rub her eyes as she was sure she hadn't just seen Yellow Diamond, possibly the second cruelest gem in the galaxy, a gem she'd heard had personally shattered legions of gems say she was worried. No, worried wasn't strong enough to describe how Yellow Diamond looked standing before her. Her fingers were slightly sparkling with power as she eyed the warp.

And all this for Steven. Sure it's no secret that they care about him, heck they'll literally cross the galaxy just to see him.

What the heck is Steven up to? Whatever it is I'm in, even if he doesn't ask.

"Look I'll help you look for him but I am going to ask is there something going on?"

Yellow's eyes narrowed and for a moment she simply considered lying to the gem before her. After all this was a need to know situation and she would prefer it stayed that way. But as she opened her mouth images of her little bundle of joy flashed across her mind. And so after a moment Yellow relaxed and tried to sound as calm as she could.

"Listen Steven seems to be going through something right now and as his family we want to help him out but taking him to Homeworld so he can relax for a while. But as I said earlier Spinel was sent to retrieve him but that was hours ago and now even our Pearls are missing."

Bismuth for what was possibly the first time actually felt herself feeling something for Yellow. Sure she still hated her with a passion as hot as her forge but she like nearly everybody in this town loved Steven and would do anything to protect him.

"Well then let's find him. If I recall there was some commotion a while ago near the warp let's ask around."

Surprisingly it only took three questions to find that not only had Steven come here but that he was small and adorable. Something she noticed Yellow knowing smile about when she found out. What they found out next was that the Pearls had shown up and they'd gone into town.

They'd tried to talk with Lapis and Peridot but the moment they'd seen Yellow Diamond getting close Lapis sprouted wings before flying off with a nervous Peridot.

As they followed their path Bismuth decided to at least attempt to get some answers.

"So how long will Steven be gone?"

"As long as needed. And perhaps even a bit longer then that. We only get to have him on Homeworld every so often. And a family should stay together after all."

"Yeah but this place is his home and if he's going through something we should help him deal with it. Last time I spoke with him he did seem a bit down saying something about now being sure what his purpose was at this point."

For the rest of the trip they tried to talk about Steven, mainly because it was the only thing they could talk about that wouldn't infuriate the other. And as they neared the town they saw the massive Blue Diamond sitting on the beach and what looked like a group of gems.

As Yellow got closer she saw that Blue was angrily petting Steven's Lion as his Pearl screamed at her. And just to the side safely nestled In the crook of Jasper's arm was Steven. Their Pearls looked both terrified and nervous as they hid behind Jasper while Spinel did her best to act as a mediator physically blocking the two with enlarged hands.

She quickly grew to her true from picking up the Bismuth and running the short distance just as the screaming really kicked off.

"I don't care if you're a Diamond he's not leaving here!"

Her screams along with Yellow's eclectic stops from her powers woke the sleeping Steven. Upon waking up and wiggling out of Jasper's grasp he ran full speed into Blue diamond's hand as she raised him up.

"Mama!"

"There's my brave boy. Now let's get White and go back to Homeworld." she nodded to Yellow and they raised their hands sending out a blast of power. White seeing this nearly burst out of the house her prize in hand as she headed toward the group.

Bismuth could only look on completely terrified at what was about to happen next.
