Story in a nutshell: Elena and Isabel late one night after a nightmare.

Authors Note: New story this time! Hope you enjoy and please leave me a review.

Isabel Castillo-Flores was sitting up and found herself pacing in the hallway. The clock struck around midnight as she ran a hand through her dark hair. Taking a calm breath, she carried her water pitcher down to the kitchen. It was just a nightmare, as she thought of what if that had gone so wrong, as she shook her head trying to get rid of the image.

Not thinking about it and instead of the kitchen, Isabel veered to her left. To the right was her abuelos bedroom and not too far from them was Esteban's. Heading towards Elena's bedroom, she climbed the steps to her room and hurried in. In a way it was kind of bad to have a bedroom in the towers. Putting the empty water pitcher on the window sill next to her sisters full one, she cleared her thoughts once more. That could have gone seriously wrong or maybe funny results, but still it was enough to leave her a little shaken. Then finally crawling into her sister's bed snuggling close to her.

From her sleep Elena found herself being gently aroused awake. That had been a rather nice dream of Canela talking and where she would go if she had wings. Then they had flown all the way to Enchancia and met Sofia once more. For some reason Esteban was with her but she shrugged and went along with it. A dream was a dream after all. And she was having some great ones lately compared to some dreamless ones.

Turning a little Elena saw Isabel next to her as she cracked her eyes open. It was probably way too late or too early judging from how dark her room still was. That didn't' matter as she found herself more concerned with her sister. It wasn't often that Isabel would end up in her bed anymore lately.

"Isa are you okay?" asked Elena as she saw her sitting up straight.

From her spot the younger girl just looked up at her and smiled. "I just wanted to sleep next to you," she said with a small cheeky smile. Her sister was twelve now and liked to charm her way into getting what she wanted. Nothing more then a cookie or extra time with her experiments of course.

Sighing Elena looked at her sister with that, 'I know something is up' look on her face. It was the same look her mami learned from her abuela.

Biting her bottom lip, Isabel just looked down at the soft sheets. "I had a nightmare," she said admitting what happened. "Mateo was showing me how to do this spell because I was curious to learn one. Then I had a dream where it went really wrong after I messed up."

Elena reached over and put an arm around her into a hug. Isabel hugged back squeezing her tightly.

"It's okay, I get it. I'll have nightmares too but what's important is that we remember that it is a dream and we can make things better before we wake up. Do you want to tell me what the spell was?"

She tossed her messed up hair to the side and watched her curiously. Isabel had shook her head not feeling like explaining it. In a way it might have been silly to some. Although she looked at Elena more curious then ever at what she admitted.

"How come you didn't tell me that you had nightmares. And why didn't you come find me if you had a nightmare?" she asked plucking up the courage. In a way she was afraid that Elena would say that it was about Shuriki or the Delgados. Then remembered that it was good to talk about that stuff. "Or abuelo or abuela?"

Elena had sighed and pulled her into a side hug, leaning against the pillows and headboard. Isabel laying flat on her back looking up at her.

"Because I need to be strong for you and for our abuelos," she said as she could remember her thought process very well. "I didn't want to scare you, if I was scared, you might be scared, and I didn't want that." Elena wiped a piece of hair away from her face and grinned at her. "I don't want to see you hurt."

"Elena you could never hurt me," said Isabel, her voice small before confidently added. "Well, not much at least." There was that one time she did let her fall off a horse. Mainly because you were supposed to learn how to fall, even if it hurt. Then there were a few times growing up where Elena wasn't there all the time and honestly it was okay because she'd have someone with her. In a way it was comforting to have her family with her.

That cracked a small smile on her face and a small giggle as they had to stay quiet as they didn't want to wake their grandparents. Or at least risk a guard hearing them. She didn't want to tell her that Gabe was there out of concern as well, mainly because it didn't seem necessary. Elena stood by her decision to let Gabe help her though that night, instead of finding her family, not wanting to freak them out. Isabel was dependent on her for so long and still was a little now. Her abuelos, she could only think, had been through so much. It would kill them to know that she was in so much pain.

"Well that's good to hear," said Elena starting to get out of the bed. "Here I can get you a drink of water and you get comfy. I can sing mami's lullaby tonight if you want."

Eagerly Isabel snugged against a pillow and the older girl laughed. After a long drink of water did the two sisters drift off to sleep after finishing the song. The next morning, their family had found them thrown across her bed and sleeping through breakfast. Just like it always has been.
