Story in a nutshell: Gabe lives the longest to remember his family and friends. He lives to tell Elena's legacy through stories and about everyone as time just passes.

Authors Note: Finished my tumblr challenge! I took three days off and now finishing some stories for here. I wanted to try something different then usual and I was reading through some of my old stories to find some inspiration. If you want to know where I pulled this from see Leap to Adventure chapter 8. Plus I've seen Coco again and that had inspired this. I'll do some requests that were left but I wanted to finish what I had started first.

Enjoy!

Gabriel Nunez remembered smiling as bright as the sun the day he saw Elena walk down the aisle to him.

He remembered holding their first two children together. To his surprise it was twins two daughters at that as they had to scramble for a second name.

He remembered when his Lorenzo's wife had given them grandchildren first.

The first of everyone to go was Francisco and Luisa. Francisco when his daughter Susana was barely even born. Luisa just before Susana had turned 10.

To his horror, shock, and grief Elena had lived to be physically 60 years old but chronologically 101. Mateo had speculated that the amulet might have something to do with it, but they'd never truly know. Their son had taken the throne and the country lead by King Lorenzo. His older sisters couldn't take over because they were twins, go figure.

After Elena was Isabel to their dismay. However, not before seeing her great nephew Zacharias had married.

Then Mateo had passed.

Then Naomi as he held his breath waiting to be the next, but years just went by. Two or three of his and Elena's children had passed before him. He had great grandchildren now still young and eager to learn about their family and friends.

Gabe held in his thought process before sitting up and tip toed down the hallway steps. The library far behind him and the book in his hands a little too heavy before stopping outside of a bedroom. Voices escaped the room and the electric lights still on.

"Bisabuelo," said the voice of his oldest great granddaughter, Princess Abril Isabel Nunez-Sanchez. She was sitting up in bed with her brother, Prince Manolo Alejandro Nunez-Sanchez, next to her. "Are you going to read us the story about bisabuela? Queen Elena?! I love it every time you tell us about her adventures."

"Why else would I have the book?" he asked setting it down in front of them. "Take your pick."

Eagerly they had flipped through the pages that Isabel had finished writing in and back to the ones Elena had started with. Of course, he'd tell some of his thoughts about what happened. Each story a little 'episode' of his life in words instead of being there.

"Tell us about the time that you had all met the sirenas. And how Elena faced off Shuriki for the last time. I would have loved to see that battle and how she used the scepter of light," said Manny getting excited. "I can just picture her firing off spells and…"

"Whoa she wasn't a wizard that was Mateo remember? Although she did have some pretty good spells with the scepter. I think the most famous one was blaze," said Gabe. "Mateo and Elena had a lot of fun practicing magic all the time. They were an unstoppable team and impossible to beat. Sometimes I wish I could do that."

"But you have a cool sword and can ride a horse really fast," said Abril. "I wish I could do that."

"Hey I said sometimes remember?" he said winking at her. "What story would you like to hear?"

She flipped through the pages trying to find a good one that could beat that. She turned to a middle page and stopped proudly before sticking a tongue out at her brother.

"I found something even better, the coronation day. When you, Elena, Naomi, and Mateo all defeated Ash and Chatana. Plus, reformed Esteban at the same time," she said smugly as if she had picked the better story.

Which in fairness she probably did while Gabe could just remember how that played out. Tensions were so high, and everything was falling apart and put back together again in just one night. Gabe just shook his head a little amused looking at the two.

"Couldn't you two have picked the time Elena taught me how to play Olaball? Or the time Mateo and Elena defeated Fierro together. Or when Elena and Isabel went on an adventure with Antonia Agama? Or what about when Naomi and Elena…"

"Bisabuelo we know all those stories, we just like these the best," said Abril shaking her own head. "It is true that every time you tell them, she's just in the spirit world with everyone else, right? It keeps her memory alive for years to come?"

"That's right and then when the time comes, they'll move on to the ancestor's branch in the spirit tree. Probably partying it up with Zuzo," said Gabe wistfully.

The brother and sister duo just broke out into a fit of giggles trying to picture. Elena could see Zuzo but everyone else around her couldn't so it must have been funny to watch her. Then again Mateo could always make him corporeal if they had to.

"Like that time when Elena and Felicia went to the spirit world. I remember reading that story in this book," said Manny flipping the pages.

He smiled seeing Elena's handwriting. They were all so lucky that Elena had a great memory to write these down years later. Sometimes they were embellished so he was there to tell the right truth not to get them all mixed up.

"I like reading about the festivals," said Abril. "I like how we still have the Sunflower Festival again after Elena brought it back. We have so much fun and I love putting on my dress and doing my hair all pretty. I have the dance memorized. I still think that it was really sweet that she and Isabel taught Cristina the dance too."

He had smiled down at the pages that chronicled their lives together. Stories with Mateo and Elena doing magic. Elena and Isabel on their sisterly endeavors. Elena and Naomi doing great best friend adventures. Elena and her grandparents swapping stories in the music room or kitchen. Sometimes Esteban would make an appearance. He and Elena raising their family together.

"Alright, alright let's get a story rolling," said Gabe adjusting for them to see the illustrations their great aunt Mirabelle had added through the years. "Let's start from the beginning, then a story every night from the top. If I remember I'll put a new one in okay?"

"Deal," they chorus at the same time.

Clad in their long matching sleeping clothes did they gather close to him. Despite them being two? Or was it three? Maybe he was just getting old, he thought, generations away from his own family. He could see Elena in Abril. More than a passing resemblance to him in Manny.

"They say every story has a beginning, except mine, I have two…"
