A/N: Alright...
(it's my intro)
Here's a small one-shot witha little over 1,500 words. It was inspired by a piece of art I came across on amino.
Anyways...
There are mentions of blood so please don't come at me saying that I didn't warn you that. It doesn't go into gory detail but it is there.
"Where is he?!" a menacing but bittersweet voice yelled from behind her, making shivers go up and down her back. Ladybug turned around towards the voice of the person that she is meant to save from Hawkmoth, though with how the villain had left broken and battered in the middle of the fight, she doubted that the boy that now stood in front of her wanted anything to do with the villain or even if he still worked for him.
"I-I don't know!" Ladybug whimpered back, staring at the akumatized victim right in his icy blue eyes as she shivered. "Oh, so the bug's scared? We can't have that. But we also can't even have a little bug. I can solve that." her former partner growled, eyes glinting mischievously as he held his hand in front of her in preparation to cataclysm her. "Ch-Chat Noir! Please! Don't do this!" Ladybug begged, not caring how unkempt she looked as she fell to her knees. "How many times do I have to tell you that it's Chat Blanc now?" Chat asked, though he sounded like he didn't have an ounce of care what she thought as he kept stepping towards her dangerously.
"B-But why?" Ladybug whispered, though she thought it was too low for him to hear, but to her surprise, he heard it if how his piercing white ears twitched was any indication. Instead of listening or answering though, he just stared at her blankly and continued to stalk towards her. "Please! You don't have to do this! Look around. You've already hurt everyone else. Everyone here cares about you but you have to stop this nonsense!" Ladybug cried, tears streaming down her blood covered face as her arm gestured to all of the civilians cowering in fear either in their homes or behind cars in the street as they were too scared to move in fear of being cataclysmed. Next her arm gestured to the small bracelet on his wrist, a token of having defeated Viperion to where Rena Rouge and Carapace lay unconscious as blood poured from their wounds and then to Kagami, Max, and Kim who were at the base of the Eiffel Tower with their own wounds, cheering her on even though they all knew she most likely wouldn't come out of this battle alive.
She knew she most likely wouldn't come out of this battle alive.
But that didn't mean she couldn't at least try to stall him and at least give everyone a little while longer.
Chat Blanc faltered, stopping dead in his tracks as he stared at all of what she assumed to be his friends as his eyes widened and ever so slightly moistened, suddenly taking on a glassy ice color before his gaze traveled back over to her and he glared, once again having her shiver uncontrollably. "Liar! No one has ever cared about me!" Chat growled, lunging at Ladybug before she, by some miracle, somehow dodged as she dropped down a level on the Eiffel Tower, leaving Chat Blanc to prowl at the top before he climbed down one of the beams as Ladybug held her breath.
Suddenly, a high pitched beeping caught her attention.
No! I knew I should've used my Lucky Charm sooner or at least have be careful with it. Now it's broken and shattered.
Ladybug had three minutes left before she de-transformed and, with her clumsiness, fell off the Eiffel Tower and into the jaws of her demise. "I know you're there Bugaboo. Give me your Miraculous and just maybe I'll spare you." Chat Blanc sing-songed, voice unnervingly close to her from where she had decided to hide on one of the beams.
Ladybug looked around the corner, grateful that a pigeon had decided to fly by that exact moment to fly by Chat's head before she ditched the beam and used her yo-yo to grapple on a beam above Chat Blanc's head.
Shooing the bird away, Chat Blanc growled before shaking his head in various directions as he no doubt was looking for her.
It's now or never.
Ladybug landed soundlessly behind her partner before creeping up from behind him. "Fine. You want to know the truth? My father is Hawkmoth. I have no idea how I was stupid enough not to notice it sooner." he said, fortunately not turning around because he could've easily stopped her right in her tracks with how she was frozen in place.
Her Kitty's own father being Hawkmoth? Secrets really can be kept right under your nose.
Her Kitty is stupid? An annoying flirt, yes. Stupid, no.
How dare the wretched man who had caused all of the inner turmoil and heartbreak for a boy so young!
Her earrings beeped again, though she suspected that Chat didn't hear it, ignored it, or was waiting for her to de-transform. Either way she felt horrible at wanting to hear the rest of his heart wrenching story.
"He wanted to bring back my mother who I had thought disappeared or even died. Instead, I found her on life support in my basement when I walked into his office and found him entering a secret doorway that led underneath the ground and into said basement."
Creepy much?
Ladybug had to admit that it DID sound as cool, intriguing, and mysterious as it did wrong.
Ladybug's breath hitched when she noticed the tears streaming down his face as he kept his back to her, though she suspected that he knew that she was there but didn't want to seem weak in her eyes, though he'd never be weak to her with all that he's gone through with helping her face akumas.
"I had done everything that my father ordered, doing everything he asked and expected of me. Instead, I played right into his trap like a mindless puppet. He never cared about me! Everyone thinks that they know me as well! They're wrong, they don't know me and they wouldn't care about me if it wasn't for my social status." Chat sobbed, clutching his chest before he yelled wordlessly.
Ladybug felt like her heart had been ripped in two.
Not being able to bear it any longer, she yanked the bell off of his suit and held her fist up to it.
"Do it. Kill me from the inside like everyone else. I knew your heart never belonged to me, but I never gave up hope. I know now that that was wrong of me. Now, it just hurts more and I know it would've been best if I had given up the first time you rejected me." Chat whimpered, eyes glistening with more unshed tears as he faced her before he quickly snapped around with his back to her again.
Ladybug's heart lurched and she knew she must've temporarily broken because the next thing she knew, she had accidentally snapped the bell in half as she held it to her chest.
This wasn't just Hawkmoth's fault. It was also hers. She had broken her partner and gave him some false hope that she wanted him romantically when she didn't. But she could've either told him softer or never have given him hope at all. Now it was too late.
Not only that, but in the heat of the battle she decided to release the akuma from the victim so that they could fight Hawkmoth when they were ready. Now, he had run away and fled and no one knew where his hideout was or if he was going to change it.
No one except Chat Noir, but she doubted that he would know the new location of Hawkmoth changed it since Hawkmoth can practically see, feel, and know what his victims are going through, and that meant that he most likely knew that Chat knew him and his identity and he decided to change his lair to an even more secluded place.
And Ladybug didn't want to be rude or throw anyone under the bus, especially her Chat, but this man had been a villain right under his son's nose for two years now. Unless the team decided to risk everything by learning Chat Noir's identity to try to find Hawkmoth, she doubted that they would ever see Hawkmoth's ugly face anytime soon or what he'd be doing next if they did.
Ladybug threw the bell to the ground, capturing the akuma completely forgotten as she wrapped her yo-yo around her hip and her arms tightly enveloped around Chat from behind, not caring about any of the tears that streamed down both of their faces and all of those watching as she cried into his back, hearing him softly hiccup.
"I'm sorry, Chat! I never meant to hurt you like this. Everyone has a right to their emotions, whether they're good or bad, but I didn't mean to hurt you just because I already like someone. I may not return your feelings, but someone else will. Please, Chat! You're my partner. My best friend. Seeing you hurt is like a punch to the gut." Ladybug sobbed, pulling Chat closer to her in what she hoped was reassurance.
"I'm sorry, bug. I love you with all of my heart. But I can't promise you anything." Chat whispered, eyes widening when he tried to walk away but was unable to get out of her vise like grip. "No! I'm not letting you go or letting you get hurt again," she sobbed, "This is all of my fault and I'm sorry. Nothing I will ever say will make it up to you. You don't deserve what you've been through." Ladybug cried, unable to stop any and all apologies as they flowed freely out of her mouth without her even caring at this point.
The next thing she saw when she finally opened her eyes: a purple-black butterfly fluttering into her yo-yo.
Next, the world around her went black and she entered a suffocating silence.
