Percy clutched her hand as she lay on the ground, her consciousness abandoning her every few seconds leading to her eyes rolling back into her head and then returning to their regular state with a jolt. Percy knew there was no hope for his girlfriend, a massive earthen spike had impaled her abdomen and blood was quickly seeping out the outlines of wound. Tears fell from his eyes as he watched the love of his life slowly die. It was not quick, and it was not painless, demigods were rarely afforded that privilege. Her face had started to pale, no doubt due to the lack of blood that it was receiving.
Annabeth's mouth moved up as if to speak but then returned to its closed position and she exhaled sharply through her nose, her eyes welling up from the pain. Percy clutched her clammy hand tighter and kissed her knuckles. At the same time an owl swooped down from up high and in an almost unimaginably bright flash of silver, it morphed into the shape of woman, who proceeded to land swiftly on her feet. Darting her eyes around the immediate area seemingly doing an impossible number of calculations before settling them on Annabeth, Athena quickly ran to her daughters' side, opposite to Percy's position.
"Annabeth, can you hear me, Annabeth, Annabeth!" Athena called out, lightly shaking the girl's arm. Annabeth turned her grey eyes to her mother and gave a faint smile.
"It hurts mom." She croaked out. Athena burst into tears.
"I know it does, I know." Athena managed to get out in between her tears. Percy was still in so much shock at the current situation that his eyes had not allowed themselves to cry. He managed to find his voice.
"I love you, now and forever Wise Girl." A tear finally making its way towards the side of his cheek. Athena glanced up at him, seemingly noticing him for the first time and looking at him with disdain, even now she could not put her feelings aside. Annabeth turned her head towards him.
"I love you too Seaweed Brain." She replied. Inhaling deeply and fading out of consciousness again. Her last breath. Annabeth Chase was dead. Athena was overwhelmed with sadness; she broke down completely and laid her head on her daughter's chest. Percy's mouth fell agape, only for him to force it shut and grit his teeth. He could not feel sadness, not right now. Right now, he only felt anger, anger for the one who caused this, all of this. He relaxed his grip on his dead girlfriend's hand. Letting it slip through his finger and falling onto the grass by his foot. He took one last look at her face and then turned to the sword that was lying by his right foot. Picking it up, he impaled it into the dirt and used it as a crutch to help himself up. Slowly rising to his feet Percy Jackson glanced down at the goddess below him and then turned away from her and toward his target.
Porphyrion loomed over the entire battlefield, dodging Jason, and Zeus' strikes, the two flew around the Giant's head occasionally firing off strikes at the thirty-foot giant. A wail of curses from Athena projected all across the battlefield alerting Jason and Zeus. Using their distracted state to his advantage, Porphyrion swung his blade, first hitting Zeus and sending him rocketing out of the Sky and into the ground, where he was caught in a cluster of vines conjured by Demeter. Jason however caught the edge of the giant's blade and was cleaved in half diagonally through his chest. He proceeded to slam into the ground below him, still and lifeless. Percy cried out at the sight and increased his speed toward the Giant.
He raced past Hermes and Frank, fighting Hippolytus, the demigod in the form of a large dragon, constantly snapping at the giant and Hermes launching strikes at its abdomen. Off in the distance he saw Piper and Aphrodite fighting Periboia, unaware of what just happened to Jason. It would break her. He also saw Ephialtes being thrown of his balance by gemstones launched by Hazel from the ground and Bacchus keeping him in place with grape vines around his ankles. Eventually the two managed to overpower the sixth last remaining Giant. The same happened to Periboia, leading to Piper finally seeing the remains of her boyfriend in the distance.
Leo Valdes upon Festus quickly raced toward Mimas, the bane of Hephaestus, he was currently fighting the giant on his own, doing what he could, knowing full well he could not kill him on his own. He was holding up the giant in the hopes that sometime soon one of the Olympians could devote some time to slay the oversized dragon-legged bastard. Leo quickly ignited his entire body as he charged toward the giant and began throwing fireballs towards its legs. Just as he landed a huge blow with one of his fireballs, two arrows impaled the giant right in the chest, one gold and one silver, the twin archers had come to the demigod's aid and had landed the killing blow. However, in a sick twist of fate Leo's final fireball had knocked the giant's dying body off balance and he was unable to get away in time. The huge corpse fell onto the demigod and crushed him, ending his life in an instant, before the giant crumpled to dust, leaving only the red smear on the grass where Leo used to be. Hephaestus screamed in rage and tossed his hammer at Hippolytus, killing the bane of Hermes.
Percy's resolve was only getting stronger and he was seeing red. He charged toward Porphyrion, unconsciously conjuring a wave behind him to push him forward at lightning speed.
"Just who I wanted to see, she will be rising any second demigod, there is nothing you can do to stop me!" The king of the giants bellowed after setting his sights on Percy. He proceeded to swing his huge blade at the son of Poseidon, it was still smeared with Jason's blood. Percy, willed the wave below him to disperse, allowing him to go into freefall and duck under the sword before catching himself. A massive rumble was felt on the ground as Poseidon had run up to aid his son. The earthquake managed to place Porphyrion on the defensive and gave Percy a window to strike. He quickly ascended to the giant's eye level and plunged Riptide through Porphyrion's left eye, and then allowing himself to fall back down, being caught by another wave summoned by his father. Zeus had joined the fight again and threw the Master bolt at the giant king, ultimately having little impact.
Porphyrion clutched his eye, now seeping fluid and blood and howled in rage. He bellowed and swung his fist at Poseidon who tried forming a water wall in order to stop the flailing arm, the strike was too powerful and the water wall not yet large enough, leading to Poseidon being knocked to the ground by Hera, clearly dizzy and injured, it was unlikely that he could fight any longer. Zeus flew out of the way of the blade coming his way and set a rocketeering punch toward the giant. Porphyrion was knocked over with the strength of the punch and fell on his side.
The giant quickly recovered though, getting to his feet, trampling a few empousa as he stood. His eyes fixed on Zeus, who he grabbed in his hand and launched toward Olympus, ending with the king of the gods being buried underneath tons of rock. He was almost definitely not seriously injured but he was also not able to fight any longer.
Percy was on his own against the most powerful enemy the gods had ever faced. He steeled his resolve though and pushed his fears back down into his stomach. He launched himself up into the air again and willed water to surround him. He launched a large punch at the giant, controlling the water to expand around his body and form the shape of a giant. The water crashed into Porphyrion who growled and keeled over. The giant straightened his back once again and swung his sword at Percy, there was no way he could get around the swing this time, it was too fast and precise, it would cleave right through him like it had Jason. Percy closed his eyes and prepared for death.
It did not come.
Percy saw a bright gold light through his eyelids and did not dare open them in case he blinded himself. When the light died away, he saw Porphyrion's blade a few meters from his face, a golden hue surrounded the whole sword which was frozen in place. A hovering figure stood in-front of him, with his back to the half-blood. He wore a green hoodie, which covered the back of his head and jeans. Percy looked again to the sword and saw that not only was that frozen, but all of Porphyrion, from the neck down, he was stuck, unable to move a muscle. The giant looked down to the figure in front of Percy and his face twisted into a confused expression before fear settled into his eyes.
"No, that's not possible, that shouldn't be possible." The giant bellowed. His voice shaky and confused. The figure held a long golden scythe at his side, bringing it up, he slashed it across the neck of the giant, allowing silver ichor to flow down the giant's trachea. The figure then turned around and looked directly at Percy, allowing him to get a look at his face. The man was about six foot two and had medium length black hair with a white streak. He also had significant stubble on his chin and looked in his mid-twenties. The strangest part of him though were his eyes, they were completely gold. No pupil, no white, no cornea. It looked like molten gold metal had filled his eye sockets and was constantly swirling back and forth. He looked like what Percy might expect himself to look like in a few years' time.
"Finish him off then." The figure said to Percy, who, with haste, launched himself forward and stabbed riptide into the chest of Porphyrion. The giant king disintegrated and left a large mound of dust where his feet used to be. Percy willed the water below him to lower him to the ground. The figure also descended. They had killed Porphyrion.
Percy once again looked at the figure, who gazed back at him. He must have been a god, or a titan. He would have to be in order to kill a giant. Percy looked again at his weapon of choice. It reminded him of Kronos' scythe, Percy quickly re-inspected the man to make sure that it was not his disgruntled grandfather. It was not.
By this point, everyone and everything was looking at them. The first to speak up was the giant Thoon, who had taken a break from fighting the fates to comment.
"No… You cannot do this, Ananke and Chronos would not allow it, it is against the ancient laws." Thoon shouted in despair.
"I am sure that I will pay the price eventually." The man replied, looking directly at the giant before turning away and looking over at the centre of the battlefield, almost expecting something to happen. As if on cue, the ground rumbled and a sinkhole formed, with a figure ascending from the ground.
"That's my signal to leave." The figure said, turning to Percy he opened his mouth as if to speak before closing it again as if he was remembering what exactly to say. Clearly the figure found the words as he approached Percy and began to talk so only he could hear him. "You won't have a choice this time, now, close your eyes." Percy did as he was told, contemplating what the stranger meant.
There was another golden flash that surrounded the figure, seemingly coming from inside his body. When Percy reopened his eyes, he was gone.
Percy shook the many questions he had from his head, turning once again to face the centre of the battlefield. The ascending figure now had solid ground underneath them. On closer inspection it was a beautiful tall lady with pale white skin, long Auburn hair, and a green dress. Gaia, mother earth herself. Percy's anger bubbled up once again, because of this bitch Leo was dead, Jason was dead. Annabeth was dead. Without her lackeys Gaia would be weak and the fates had just finished off Thoon leaving no Giants left. Percy charged toward the Primordial intent on retribution. He would make her suffer for what she had done.
He held Riptide aloft as he ran, and Gaia turned towards him.
"Percy Jackson, I have been waiting for this for a long time." She started launching spikes of rock at him, forcing him to duck and weave as he made his way across to her. Gaia grew frustrated at her inaccuracy and began to hurl boulders at the demigod. Percy managed to evade these as well with a few close calls. However, when Percy got within striking range of her he noticed a problem, there was green light emanating from the ground, feeding into Gaia, and giving her energy. Percy took a swing at her and managed to cut her, only for it to heal immediately. Luckily, the gods noticed this too and seemed to be coming to his aid.
They needed to get her off the ground otherwise they stood no chance of damaging and killing her. Poseidon who had now recovered a significant portion of energy summoned a large earthquake and shook the ground so violently that the tendrils feeding into Gaia started to disintegrate. As quickly as that happened though more ones started to form, with the rest of his power Poseidon increased the intensity of the earthquake even more and Percy stabbed Riptide through Gaia's shoulder. All the anchor points around Gaia were destroyed and just before they could reform a giant owl swooped in and grabbed Gaia by the neck, Percy was also swooped off the ground as he was still holding onto Riptide. The owl kept ascending into the air faster and faster, eventually dropping Gaia and Percy.
At first Percy was concerned with the height he was falling at but then realised that this could be used to his advantage, he got close to Gaia again and pulled Riptide out of her shoulder and kept hacking and slashing, Gaia wasn't healing however she was retaliating and had formed one of her arms into a large wooden spike and stabbed it through Percy's leg. He screamed in pain but did not let that stop him from attacking the primordial. Eventually he could see the ground as they had passed below the layer of clouds blocking his view initially, they were over the sea. He could use this to his advantage. He once again struck Gaia with Riptide, hacking off her left forearm and stabbed her through the gut. He was about four hundred feet from the surface now so he prepared his next move, he twisted Riptide and positioned Gaia below him so she would hit the water first.
Percy close his eyes and prepared for impact. When it came, it pushed him and Gaia together and dislodged Riptide from her stomach, allowing the sword to glide through her body up to the nape of her neck. Gaia exploded in a green light, engulfing everything around them for miles. Percy felt the light burn him severely, tearing flesh from muscle and muscle from bone, his body was being torn apart. This would be his end. He blacked out as he fell underneath the surface still grabbing onto Gaia's disintegrating body.
So that's the end of the first chapter, let me know what you think and I need some ideas for pairings, I would like to do some unconventional ones but am not against popular ones either. Thanks for reading!
