Owlette flew into the night sky over the rooftops of the city, still feeling embarrassed. Not only had a nighttime villain seen her in her current state and laughed at her, but her two friends and teammates had laughed at her bodily blunder once more.
"I guess this is the only place I can escape embarrassment," she sadly said to herself, before breaking wind again. She groaned, "why is this happening to me?"
She knew she couldn't stay in the air forever, so she had to find some place to land, some place she could hide.
Owlette flew towards a brick wall at a dead end and landed. She then lifted her hand and drew an infinity symbol in the air, which appeared in a gold light, and the bricks split open, revealing a portal to another location known as Mystery Mountain, since she figured it'd be secluded enough. She took the shortcut through the cave to reach the summit, since she didn't have her PJ Rover.
As she reached it, she saw Night Ninja and his Ninjalinos at the gate with a catapult loaded with sticky splat.
"Night Ninja," Owlette said to herself, "what could he possibly be up to?"
One part of her didn't want to be embarrassed again, but the other couldn't let a villain just go ahead and carry out their evil plan, so she stayed on the steps below, just barely out of sight of the ninjas.
"I'll be sure to take the pagoda back from that dragon girl once more!" Night Ninja declared.
A Ninjalino spoke in Ninjalino-ese, questioning Night Ninja.
"So what if I've tried this before?" said Night Ninja, "are you going to help or not?"
The Ninjalino, doing what he was told, said no more.
"It's a wonder we got the Sticky Splat catapult here," the ninja leader said, "but it'll be a blast when we get it all inside the pagoda!"
He pulled the lever, flinging a big glob over the fence and did his usual boastful evil laugh.
The same Ninjalino started talking again and seemed to be asking a question.
"How are we going to get the place back if we've Sticky Splatted it?" Night Ninja once again translated, "By cleaning it after she clears out! I'll make you all clean it, of course."
"There'd be no need to clean up afterwards," Owlette said, flying upwards, no longer able to just stand around and listen, "because you're not going to splat it in the first place!"
"Bird Brain..." Night Ninja turned around and looked up at her, "I should have known you'd show up to spoil my victory. where are Kitty Litter Boy and Lizard Legs?" He asked, looking around for them.
That made Owlette think. Since Catboy and Gekko weren't with her, she didn't know exactly what she'd do to foil Night Ninja's plan. She flew over the catapult towards the gate, trying to think of what to do next, but not even midway over, another gassy burst from her interrupted her flight, the force causing her to tumble and belly flop in front of the catapult.
Night Ninja laughed in a mixture of mocking and triumph.
"There's a reason I call you Bird Brain!"
Just then, a familiar dark-haired girl in red and gold came out through the gate, noticing the sticky splat and hearing the commotion.
"What's going on here?"
"What's going on is," Night Ninja replied, "I'm taking back what's mine!"
Owlette, having recovered from being dizzy, lifted herself to her feet.
But before she was all the way up, another powerful poot, which must have been triggered by landing on her stomach, came out with such strong force that it blew the catapult back, causing it to tumble down the steps. The Ninjalinos started scrambling in circles, then ran after it.
"How dare you get rid of my catapult!" Night Ninja yelled, "now you've also got to pay! First Lizard Legs, now you!"
Then Night Ninja started smelling the stench from the blast, making his eyes water, figuring out the reason the Ninjalinos were running in circles instead of straight after the catapult.
He fanned the air in front of his face, "ugh... disgusting! I can't believe you of all people just did that," he then ran down the steps, "I'll be back!"
"That Night Ninja never gives up, does he?" An Yu asked.
"No," said Owlette, "but that's why we're superheroes in the first place."
"That's true," An Yu said, "why are you here by yourself? Where are your friends?"
"Well, it's a long story," Owlette said, hesitant to tell An Yu what happened, "but I have to go now."
At that moment, she was caught off guard when a long, loud ripper escaped her.
"Ohh... I'm so sorry," Owlette hung her head in embarrassment, "I so did not mean to do that."
An Yu remained indifferent as ever.
"You're not upset?' Owlette asked.
"While it may not be acceptable to do that during ceremonies, training or other events, during my years, I've seen people do that, as well as it coming from the other end, usually to show they've eaten well."
An Yu's old world and foreign customs usually drove a wedge between herself and the PJ Masks, but it seemed to be a good thing in Owlette's situation.
"The thing is," Owlette said, "I accidentally did it at school, and all the kids laughed at me and one started calling me names. And tonight, a villain and his robot, and even Catboy and Gekko laughed at me. I'm not sure if I can even go back to school in the morning because I'm more than sure the other kids will never let me forget it."
"Well," An Yu said, "I've been sealed in that gong for thousands of years and have never been in school, so I unfortunately don't have any advice for you."
Owlette was a bit disappointed that An Yu didn't have any advice for her, but she should have figured that her life experiences would be different.
"Thanks anyways," Owlette said, "I better be going now. Bye."
And with that, she flew down the steps.
An Yu went back inside the gate to the pagoda, where she noticed a shadow hovering above her. She looked up and started talking to its owner.
"You, mysterious stranger! State your business here!"
The stranger did not answer, but instead zapped her with a yellow beam. Immediately after, she started to rapidly pass gas.
"Oh dear," An Yu said calmly, "what a predicament I'm in."
A red scene transition with Owlette's symbol appeared and revealed Catboy and Gekko riding through the city streets on their PJ Rovers.
On the road ahead, they saw a familiar kid in an armadillo suit. They stopped their Rovers beside him.
"Armadylan!"
"Hi, guys," he replied.
"We're looking for Owlette," Catboy told him, "you see... she accidentally let one rip at school today, and the kids all laughed at her. And it happened again in front of Romeo and his robot, who also laughed at her."
"And we kinda laughed, too," Gekko confessed.
"And now she's so embarrassed and upset, she flew away, and she turned off her communicator so we couldn't get a hold of her. So we figured she'd be trying to hide on Mystery Mountain," Catboy said.
"Yeah," said Gekko, "where else is she going to go, the Mushroom Kingdom?"
"Well," Armadylan said, thinking over what they told him, "I'll help you guys."
Armadylan was willing to help the PJ Masks to prove himself to be a true hero, even if he would occasionally mess up. He rolled into a ball and followed Catboy and Gekko until they stopped at a brick wall.
Catboy lifted his hand and drew an infinity symbol in the air, which appeared in a gold light, and the bricks split open.
They then went inside past the bamboo forest and reached the steps leading to the pagoda where they saw a tipped over catapult at the bottom of them. Night Ninja walked out from behind it, followed by his Ninjalinos.
"Night Ninja!" Catboy said the way he always did when calling out a nighttime villain.
"More PJ Pests decided to show up," Night Ninja said, a bit annoyed, "we don't have time for this."
"You haven't happened to have seen Owlette, have you?" Gekko innocently asked.
"Yeah," Night Ninja replied, "she's the reason my catapult is down here. You might want to tell her to see a doctor about her gas problem. Seriously, it smells like a skunk," he held his nose and fanned the air while his Ninjalinos joined together in a chorus of "Ewwww..."
Catboy and Gekko looked at each other, then they, along with Armadylan, headed back out the secret entrance.
