This was an idea for a scene that could fit well into the second movie, Prince Caspian (yes, I like the Chronicle of Narnia books and movies and I'll likely write more about it).
This is about a brief moment that takes place during a coronation ball after the final battle is won and Caspian has been crowned king. I'm looking to do some nice foreshadowing, and help establish some good relations between Caspian and the two younger Pevensie siblings considering he never talks to them directly up until Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
Caspian slipped out of the hall of the castle, away from where the ball was taking place. Yes he loved being able to dance with others, but so much had happened and he wanted a bit of time without being pestered by all his new subjects.
He came onto the balcony facing east, and leaned against the stone railing, looking at the moon and all the stars plentiful.
"Nothing like England at all," A voice says, startling Caspian. He turns around to see Lucy, weaning a dress made for a Queen.
"Umm," he stammers, "Yes, Your Majesty."
Lucy sighs. "Caspian, you're part of our family now, so you won't be using formalities with me. Just call me Lucy."
"Yes, Lucy," he replies nervously. "Wait, did you say I'm a part of your family? How?"
She giggles. "You're a King of Narnia now, and I've seen you as another older brother for some time."
"Thank you, Lucy," he replies, turning back to keep looking at the night sky. Lucy steps forward to stand next to him, also looking up.
"What was that you said?" Caspian asks. "About England, the place you're from right?"
"Yes, the land my siblings and I are from on another world. The night sky there looks way worse there."
"How does it look worse?"
"There just," she hesitates, trying to think of how to explain. "Isn't as many stars in the sky. Even when you go out far away like we did to the Professor's house, there aren't as many stars as there are here."
"The Professor? Who's that?"
"Oh, he's the boy who was there when Narnia was first created, Digory Kirke."
"You've met him?" Caspian asks, sounding surprised. "How? He lived thousands of years ago, wouldn't he be dead?"
"Time passes differently between our worlds, silly," Lucy says laughing. "Didn't I live over a thousand years ago and fight battles, yet here I am in front of you."
"That is fair," Caspian laughs too.
"He isn't the young boy he was, he's much older, but he's still alive. We didn't even know it was him when we were in Narnia for our reign, we only found out afterwards when we were talking to him about Narnia and he told us. We lived in his house for some time to escape a war, and in his house we found the wardrobe that took us to Narnia."
"Interesting. But, what of the girl that was with him?"
"Polly Plummer? We haven't met her, but the Professor said that she's still alive and well, and also old like him. I hope we can meet, he said that she'll like us."
"It's hard to dislike you, Lucy," Caspian says, smirking down at her.
"That's nice to hear, Caspian. Saying stuff like that is what makes you a good older brother."
"Thank you, Lucy."
There's a brief silence until Lucy asks, "What are you going to do now that you're King?"
"I don't know," Caspian answers. "See the world? Visit other countries? Get on good terms with them? Keep peace between Telmarines and Narnians intact?"
"That sounds like a good plan," Lucy responds.
"Maybe, just maybe, I can get a navy for Narnia, one that hasn't existed in so long?"
"What?" Lucy says, startled. "Why hasn't there been one?"
"The Telmarines have long feared the seas. Stories of sea serpents."
"Caspian, you Telmarines held superstitions of evil Narnians that lurked in the woods, and now you've fought an army of them to take your rightful place on the throne."
"That is true," Caspian pauses before adding, "Maybe sea serpents supporting my navy would be good.
Lucy laughs. "That would be impressive, Caspian. But, I've sailed many times all across the sea and I haven't seen any sea serpents."
"But then how would they be in my navy if there aren't any in the ocean?"
Lucy laughs harder. Caspian laughs too.
Lucy eventually calms herself. "So who are you going to dance with next?"
"There's this really good looking person I would like to dance with," Caspian says with a smirk. "You should know them, they're one of your siblings."
He turns around to see Edmund standing right by the door. "I'm flattered, Caspian, but I'm going to decline that offer."
Caspian playfully hits him on the arm. "You're lacking in beauty that the one I think of holds."
"I am not!" Edmund says, faking aggressiveness. "Lucy agrees with me, right?"
Lucy feels the stares of both Kings. "I mean," she says.
Caspian bursts into laughter. Lucy follows, and soon after Edmund does as well. 'I have a family,' Caspian thought. 'It feels great.'
