A Light in the Darkness: Hotaru's quirk didn't always come easy to her, controlling energy can be overwhelming, but she is determined to be the best hero she can possibly be despite all the circumstances she has against her. OCx?

Author's Note: And here is the next chapter! Finally getting to meet some familiar faces. Enjoy and let me know what you think? It's so hard trying to keep everyone in character and not just sprout episodes/chapters word for word. I mean, I do do that, but hopefully it's believable and not too irritating.

Chapter Five: Assessing Class 1 A

"Wait for me Hotaru-chan!" The girl stopped, dark green uniform skirt swinging around her thighs over the black leggings she chose to wear under the skirt, she was disappointed UA didn't provide the option for different skirt lengths as she would have preferred wearing a longer one. The light grey uniform jacket with green decorations on the shoulders, lapels, and cuffs, was left unbuttoned over her white dress shirt and red tie. "Thank you!" Hotaru smiled at her friend, munching on her banana and peanut butter toast as they both started walking towards their school once more. The whitette had waited for her friend this morning but when he was taking too long she decided to go ahead and leave without him, she didn't want to be late on her first day at the hero academy.

"Are you excited?" Hotaru asked her friend, the green haired boy was practically shaking next to her. However, due to who he was, she didn't know if he was just nervous or excited. Probably a combination of both. "It will be nice to be in the same class again," Hotaru added, swallowing the last of her breakfast, "Hopefully that jerk is in a different class." She had noticed that his name was the one above her's on the scoreboard from her acceptance video.

"Y-Yeah…" Izuku agreed, hoping that his male childhood friend was in a separate class as well. He hadn't been able to tell the boy that he had gotten a quirk and for him to actually believe him, he had tried but Kaachan didn't believe him, and he just knew that the blond was going to feel even angrier when he saw his quirk in action. He probably thought he had been lying this whole time….

"Well, don't worry about him. I'll deal with his attitude for you," Hotaru offered as they passed through the school's entrance gate. "Now, where would our class be?"

"I have a map!" Midoriya offered, smiling and hoping the girl would forget about their blond friend, he didn't want them to start a fight on the first day. He really hoped they ended up in different classes just for everyone's sake. Bakugo and Hotaru could be a handful together once they really got going and it seemed every time he got involved it only got worse. "It's this way" Midoriya pointed, "On the second floor. Let's change shoes first."

Both teens split as they went to find the shoe locker with their names on them to change into their inside shoes. Once that was done, they both began making their way towards their classroom. Midoriya was muttering to himself while Hotaru looked around, smiling at the students she passed. "Woah! The door is huge!" Hotaru laughed at her friend when they got to their classroom, their door was larger than normal.

"Probably to accommodate all kinds of quirks," Hotaru offered, shrugging as she reached to open the door for them both. She threw it open just as a loud, familiar voice yelled out;

"Like I care, you extra!" The blond, spikey haired Katsuki Bakugou that the two had grown up with and went to middle school with was sitting at a desk on the far side of the room with his feet up on it. He had a nasty snarl on his face, red eyes glaring at another student. A tall boy with neatly styled dark hair and glasses stood next to the desk the blond currently had his feet on.

Hotaru sighed, suddenly feeling very tired. "I already have to deal with this," She muttered, moving into the classroom before her green-haired friend who had frozen at the sight and sound of the blond. "Oi! Porcupine! Calm your ass down!" She called, catching the eyes of the rest of the students who were already in the class and getting to know each other and finding their seats. "It's way too early for your crap!"

"Hah?" The blonde shot up from his seat, directing his angry glare at the slightly taller girl that was walking towards him with a small, confident smirk on her face. "What did you say to me you fairy?!"

"I said," Hotaru spoke slowly as if she was talking to an imbecile, and she really felt like she was, "Calm your ass down." Her smirk widened when he let out a small explosion from his hands in anger. She ignored the wide eyed looks she was receiving from half the class and the taller boy moving towards Midoriya who had finally entered the room. "Do I need-" She was cut off from a deep, monotone voice calling out over the whole class.

"If you're here to socialize, get out." Hotaru whirled around to face the doorway to see a strange site. A grown man, she assumed, was laying on the floor in a yellow sleeping bag that made him look like a caterpillar or bug of some sort in a cocoon. He had long, unkempt black hair, a scruffy chin, and tired, narrow black eyes. "This is the hero course, not a playground." The man stood up as all the students in the room scrambled to find their assigned seats and quite down.

Hotaru offered Bakugou another smirk before walking to the back of the room to her seat; she was in between the small, cute, brown haired girl with the perpetually pink cheeks that had helped Midoriya at the entrance exam and a male teen that had a scar on his face that looked like a nasty burn, two toned hair that was split completely down the middle with half being white and the other red and even his eyes, that starred emotionlessly towards the front of the classroom, where two different colors with one being dark gray and the other a bright, brilliant blue. Hotaru faced the front, deciding she could introduce herself later as the adult had seemed to be in a foul mood with their class already and the day had just started.

She, along with everyone else, watched as the man unzipped his sleeping bag to emerge in a hero costume that consisted of a black jumpsuit, a grey utility belt, and a strange scarf that looked like bandages wrapped around his neck and shoulders. "It took you too long to settle. Time is precious and we don't have long to make you into the heroes society expects you to become." He offered them a deadpan stare. "I'm Shota Aizawa, you're a homeroom teacher."

Where have I seen this man before? Hotaru wondered. The man was obviously a pro-hero, as all hero course students had pro-hero teachers, but he probably was not a very popular one based on the fact that she couldn't place who he was. All the popular heroes were constantly flashed on the television, magazines and social sites. She didn't immediately recognize him, but something about him did seem familiar.

"Now, quickly put these gym uniforms on and head out onto the grounds outside." He pointed towards the front where there were several stacks of blue gym uniform tracksuits provided by UA to it's students. Each set had a name tag on them telling which student got which one. "You have 10 minutes. The changing rooms are at the end of the hall." The class jumped into action as their teacher left.

Hotaru grabbed hers, reaching around a shorter boy who had the head of a black bird, and moving towards the exit of the classroom. She smiled at the dark haired, glasses wearing boy who had been on the receiving end of Bakugou's anger and ignored the stern frown he sent her way as she left. "Wait up!" Hotaru paused, blinking in surprise when the short, brown haired girl caught up with her, a smile on her face. She was followed quickly by several more girls from the class.

"I'm Ochoko Uraraka!" She introduced herself cheerfully. "I saw you with the green-haired boy at the entrance exams!"

"Yeah, he's my friend" Hotaru offered smiling in reply to the bubbly teen. "I'm Hotaru Tanimori."

"Wow! Tanimori, you sure have some guts!" A pink skinned girl spoke, a wide smile on her face as she came into the conversation. The girl had wildly fluffy, short pink hair that matched her skin, a pair of curly horns and eyes with completely black sclera and light yellow irises. "That blond boy is so scary but you just might be scarier for standing up to him! I'm Mina Ashido! Nice to meet ya!"

"Eh, that jerk doesn't scare me. Then again" Hotaru shrugged, "I grew up with him. He's all bark and no bite."

"Somehow I doubt that…" Another girl with short, bob length dark hair, dark eyes and what looked like earphone jacks coming from her ears spoke. "Kyoka Jiro."

"We better get changed and down to the grounds before Aizawa-sensei gets angry with us" Another girl, this one with a thick and voluminous black pony-tail and dark eyes spoke, "Oh, sorry! I am Momo Yaoyorozu, it is nice to meet you!" She smiled at the girls, urging them to begin moving from where they had paused in the hallway. Hotaru noticed how she tried to avoid her eyes and was curious as to why.

"Yeah, he seems like the teacher who would make us run laps if we show up late" This was spoken by another girl from the class who was completely invisible except for the school uniform she was wearing. She was standing next to the last girl of the class whom Hotaru recognized as the girl she had sat next to briefly in the entrance exam. Her long, dark green hair was once more styled by tying a large bow at the bottom with it and her large, green almost reflective eyes were watching all of them with a small, natural smile on her face.

"We better go, ribbit" She croaked, taking the lead with Uraraka and Yaoyorozu walking beside her.

"So the blond boy is your friend?" Ashido questioned the white haired girl, curious to learn about the taller girl who had just barged into the classroom and started having a go at the hothead that had been sprouting angry words before.

Hotaru scoffed, holding the door open for everyone to enter before she followed the girls into the locker room and picked a random one next to the frog-like girl. "As if. Bakugou is just a jerk. He went to the same school as Midoriya and I since we were children. He was so angry when he found out he wasn't the only one to get into UA from our school." Hotaru slipped out of her school uniform.

"Wow! Tanimori, you're so buff!" The invisible girl spoke, Hotaru smiled in her direction, shrugging her shoulders. She worked out, going for a run every morning and then to the gym in the evenings to help her learn to control her quirk and that ended up giving her a body that was thicker than the girls in the room. She had a faint outline of abs, but she honestly wasn't trying for them, and her thighs and legs were clearly a runner's. She pulled on the blue tracksuit pants that had a white line going down the front and left the jacket that also had white lined designs on the front with more white patches on the arm outlined in red, open over the simple black t-shirt that came with the outfit.

"I wonder what Aizawa-sensei is having us do?" Ashido wondered as she finished changing as well.

"Yes, the opening ceremony should be starting soon. He won't make us go like this, will he?" Yaoyorozu wondered as well. "Our principal is supposed to be making a speech and I am eager to see what other pro-heroes will be our teachers. Mother and father were unable to tell me."

"Probably nothing good," Hotaru supplied, making sure all the girls were dressed before she opened the door to leave the changing room. "We better hurry though, there isn't much time left."

"Right! Let's go!" Hotaru blinked in surprise when Ashido grabbed her arm and began dragging both her and Jiro down the hall towards the stairs and entrance they needed to take to get to where their class was supposed to meet. "We only have a minute!" All the girls started jogging, they didn't want to be late as they really had no idea what their new teacher would do.

"Almost last ladies," A boy with bright yellow blond hair that had one black, lightning shaped streak commented as the girls joined their male classmates. Hotaru smiled as Midoriya came to stand next to her, he kept shifting his eyes from Uraraka to her, a blush on his face when the girl started talking to him and he was unable to respond.

"Let's get started." The class quieted as their teacher began talking, his tired look never leaving his face. "We're going to be doing a quirk assessment test."

"But what about the opening ceremony?" Uraraka questioned, a frown on her face. She had been looking forward to seeing the rest of the school. "We'll miss everything!"

"There is no time to waste on those," Aizawa answered, pulling out a ball from one of his pockets. "Here at UA, the hero courses aren't tied to pointless ceremonies and the teachers are free to run their classes as we see fit. You've been taking standardized tests most of your lives but have never been allowed to use your quirks." Aizawa held up a handheld device that listed common physical fitness tests done during gym, like the 50-meter-dash or side-to-side step, "The world is still trying to pretend that we are all created equal by not allowing those with more power the chance to excel. It's just not rational. Bakugou," He threw the ball he held to the blond teen who caught it easily, his normal grouchy look on his face, "You scored the most points in the entrance exam. How far was your farthest throw in middle school?"

"Sixty-seven meters" He answered.

Aizawa smirked, "Now try doing it with your quirk," He pointed to the pitch ring, "Do whatever you have to do, just stay in the circle." The man moved out of the way, hands in his pockets, as Bakugoe smirked, moving forward to get into position. It was time to show these extras who was the best and most powerful here.

Hotaru watched with narrowed eyes and the boy wound his arm all the way back, a crazy grin on his face as he released a powerful explosion from his hand at the same second he threw and released the ball. "DIE!"

"Die?" Midoriya mumbled from beside her.

What an idiot. Real hero like, Hotaru thought, rolling her eyes but also feeling a slight twinge of impressed at how far the ball appeared to be thrown...not that she would ever let the hot-head know. Bakugou's head was already big enough.

"Wow!" A boy with spiky red hair and red eyes spoke, "705 meters!"

"All of you need to know your maxima capabilities with your quirks. This is the most rational way to see where you're at and where you need to be to become heroes," Aizawa said, face never changing from expressionless.

"I wanna go!" Ashido spoke excitedly, "That looks like fun!"

"Using our quirks as much as we want, this will be awesome!" Another boy of the class, this one with neck length black hair and oval, black eyes spoke, a smile on his face. His elbows were larger and rounder, almost freaky looking, as well.

"So," The class all froze as their homeroom teacher spoke again, the air becoming supercharged with tension, "this is fun, huh? You have just three years to become a pro, and you think it's all going to be fun and games?" Hotaru shivered as their teacher began to smirk at them with an almost insane look in his eyes, "Today you'll compete in 8 fitness tasks to see your potential. The one with the lowest score at the end of all eight tests will be deemed hopeless and expelled."

"Huh?!" Most of the class cried. Hotaru frowned, beginning to pull in energy from her surroundings, careful not to touch any of those around her and focusing only on the natural energy from the sunlight and plants.

"That's not fair!" The invisible girl, who Hotaru still didn't know the name of, cried, "We all passed our entrance exams to prove we belong here. How can we be expelled on the first day?"

Aizawa's smirk widened into a scary grin, "Like I said, I get to decide how my class runs. Your fates are in my hands," He pushed his hair back, "Welcome to the hero course at UA!" He paused, seeming to take joy in the panic of several students and watching the ones who had already switched into a serious mood.

"This is so unfair" Uraraka spoke.

"What, and life is? Natural disasters, rampaging villains, unfairness is always right around the corner" Aizawa spoke again, "It's a hero's job to correct that unfairness. If you thought the next three years was going to be all fun and games, you might as well leave now. Save all our time. For the next three years, UA is going to put you through the wringer, break you just to build you back up; That's going beyond Plus Ultra." He was smirking again, "You are the ones who decide what kind of hero you will be...so use all your strength to overcome everything we throw at you." Aizawa pointed to a thin robot that also looked like a camera, "Let's begin with the 50-meter dash. We'll go in pairs in the order of class numbers. Up first in numbers one and two."

Ashido and another boy with bright blond hair went forward to complete their run. The boy had a strange belt around his waist and Ashido removed her shows. "Go!" The boy began shooting a bright blue laser from his belly which propelled him backwards, quickly down the lain, however it could only go for so long and he fell, having to pull himself back up and into position to go again with his quirk. Ashido began gliding forward quickly, a sort of acid coming from her heet as she appeared to be skating across the ground. She was several paces ahead of the blond and finished first.

Hotaru began stretching as the tall, glasses wearing boy moved forward, watching as he pulled his tracksuit pants up to reveal metal pipes sticking out of his legs. The frog like girl also stepped forward to take her place at the starting line. "Ready?" The robotic recording device called as both took their place, "Go!" Hotaru blinked and the glasses boy was gone, having completed his run in record time. The green haired girl never stood a chance at beating him even though she wasn't slow.

"Wow! So he has engines in his legs, so he has an obvious advantage in this test but maybe not the others. I just need to make sure…" Hotaru turned to face her best friend, watching as he began to panic and mutter to himself.

"Izuku," She said, causing the boy to jump in place and look at her with wide eyes, "Calm down and focus on doing your best." She rolled her eyes, "Not every quirk here is going to work for every test, so don't worry so much about not being able to use yours correctly just yet. You'll figure it out with that big brain of yours." She clapped him on the shoulder and made her way to take her spot as her number, 10, was called. She was racing with the person who sat in front of her. He had peach colored skin with a head that was almost rock like. She wondered if that had something to do with his quirk.

She began pouring energy into her legs causing them to glow a light purple. They didn't emit a bright light like a glow stick or even a lightbulb, it was more like the veins in her legs began to glow as more concentrated energy flowed through them and was forced to stay. "Ready," Hotaru let out a breath and released it as the robot called "Go!" She flew down the length of the dash, determined to beat her middle school time. "4.22 seconds!" She huffed, immediately letting go of the energy in her legs and letting it go back into her reserves.

"Nice Tanimori!" Ashido congratulated her as she made her way back to the rest of the class grouped together, a wide smile on her face as she stood next to the taller teen. "You're so fast! And the way your legs glowed was so cool! What kind of quirk do you have?"

Hotaru smiled at the pinkette, "I control energy," was all she offered. Loud explosions went off as soon as she finished and both girls turned to see that Bakugou and Midoriya were racing. Bakugou was using his hands to propel himself through the air with explosions one after another. Midoriya wasn't using an obvious quirk as he pushed himself to run faster than he ever had before. "4.13 seconds!" The high pitched voice called as Bakugou crossed the finish line. He stopped in place, flexing his hands with a wide grin on his face.

"Ya see that, ya damn Fairy?!" Hotaru signed when she knew he was addressing her with that stupid nickname. "I'm faster than you!"

"Calm down," Aizawa called, black eyes watching the exchange of Hotaru completely ignoring the blond haired boy, Ashido watching with a nervous look, and Bakugou getting even more irritated at being ignored. "Let's move on to the next test, grip strength."

Hotaru moved with everyone and waited for a turn to use one of the machines that would measure their muscular strength. She wondered if she should try to concentrate her energy in her hand for this, she had used her quirk to make herself faster or to form weapons, but she had never done so to make herself stronger; she just trained her body for that. It's worth a shot, I guess. Hotaru thought as she took the gripper from Urakaka whose numbers were about average for a female who did no strength training. Here goes, Hotaru focused on pouring energy into her left hand, for she was left handed, causing it to grow purple in a similar way that her legs had done so earlier. She had to focus on not projecting it as a weapon, as she had done for the entrance exam, and keep all of the energy inside. Once she was certain she had enough she gripped the machine as hard as she could, using the energy to push her grip further.

"Woah! 136.07 kg!" A very short boy with odd shaped purple hair and a weird look on his face spoke. "You can grip me tight anyday!"

Hotaru glared at the little boy, yellow eyes freezing as a frown came to her place. "What did you just say?" The ball-headed male's smile froze as he began sweating.

"N-nothing! Wow, Shoji!" He darted away to another one of their male classmates, this one with silver hair, a blue face mask and six arms that were webbed together, "540 kg! You're such a beast!"

Hotaru sighed, walking over towards her teacher to show him her score, deciding to ignore the strange smaller male for now. It wasn't long before they moved onto the next test, the standing long jump, and then the ones after that. Hotaru was able to use her quirk on most of the tests effectively, except for the step-to-step one as she just didn't have that fine of a control on her quirk to do so, until finally it was the last one - the ball throw.

"Number 10," Hotaru caught the ball as her familiar classmate, Koda, she believed, passed it to her with an anxious look on his face. She was starting to feel tired, and hungry, from having used her quirk so often. It wasn't anything strenuous, but she had never had to cut it off and then on so often before. And there just wasn't much time between tests to gather more so she had to rely on her own natural energy. I really need to take the time everyday to store more energy. Hotaru thought, taking her place in the circle and feeling all the eyes of her classmates on her. She breathed in deeply, once more focusing energy down her left arm much like she had done for the grip test. Only this time, she wanted to push it out, like one of the daggers she had created at the entrance exam but not in a way that would destroy the ball, at the last second for an energy burst as she let the ball go. Once again, this is something I've never done before but let's give it a shot. I think I've done well enough to not come in last if this fails. Izuku however…Hotaru shook those thoughts away as she got into a better stance. Legs shoulder width apart, she pulled her arm back and released the ball, a short bust of purple light happening right as it left her hands. "307.84 meters."

"Your quirk is so unfair!" Mina said as Hotaru took her place between her and Midoriya. The pink haired girl had quickly attached herself to both Hotaru, Jiro, and Toru Hagakure, the invisible girl.

"Yeah!" Hagakure agreed in her high pitched voice, "It's able to do anything."

Hotaru laughed, shaking her head. "Not really. I've never had to use my quirk for most of the things we've done today. I've just been lucky that everything has managed to work so far."

"Oh look, it's Midoriya's turn" Jiro interrupted, twirling one of her earphone jacks around her fingers, "He hasn't used his quirk yet, I wonder what it is."

"Super strength," Hotaru supplied, watching her friend closely. He appeared to be concentrating hard. "He didn't know he had one until just recently, so he doesn't have good control over it yet. From what I heard about his exam, he actually broke-" Hotaru cut off as she watched a green, almost lightning-like energy crawl up his arm. Her eyes widened as she felt the amount of energy pouring out from her friend, it was too much. He'll hurt himself again if he doesn't know how to release it properly!

"Izuku, wait! That energy is-" She stepped forward, hoping to stop her friend before it was too late and gaining many confused looks from most of her classmates. However before she could stop him, he threw the ball at the same time the energy completely died out suddenly

"46 meters!" Hotaru blinked, just as surprised as Midoriya was that his ball didn't fly far and that his quirk was completely gone.

"I erased your quirk," Their teacher spoke, his black hair now flying about him as the scarf around his neck unraveled and revealed a set of yellow goggles. His eyes were red as he looked at Midoriya without blinking.

Wait, is that?! Hotaru couldn't believe it. How did she not recognize one of her favorite heroes? Sure, he wasn't well known because he stayed off of the media spotlight, but that was one of the things Hotaru liked about the underground hero, he didn't need everyone's love and recognition to save others, he just did. "Eraserhead" she muttered the same time Midoriya cried out;

"You're the erasure hero; Erasurehead! You're quirk nullifies peoples' quirks just by looking at them!" He was panicking, wondering why his quirk was erased by his teacher. He was just trying to prove he belonged here in the only test he had left to do so.

"That qualifications for passing the entrance exam are completely irrational," Aizawa spoke, uncaring that his cover had been blown, he had never been trying to hide it in the first place, "Someone like you should have never been allowed to enroll here. You can't control your quirk at all, destroying your body every time you use it. You were just planning to do so now, weren't you?" He was still using his quirk, eyes glowing red, "You friend even tried to stop you, sensing your irrational energy leaking out." Hotaru stepped back, not knowing what to feel as he lectured Midoriya. She believed in her friend, but she had had no idea that his quirk had so much energy that was trying to burst out of him and destroy his body. She had felt it constantly since his quirk finally appeared, but had no idea it was so violent when activated. She knew what out of control energy did to someone….

"If you'd gone through with your plan, you'd been incapitated again like at the entrance exam" Aizawa continued, walking towards the still frozen Midoriya, "What would you do then? Would the hero be the one needing rescued?"

"No! That wasn't what I was trying to do!" Midoriya cried, "Woah!" Aizawa shot one of the ends of his scarf out to wrap around the boy and bring him closer.

"No matter what you wanted to do, that was what would have happened. You would be nothing more than a liability in battle. You have the same reckless drive of another hero we all know, one who saved a thousand people and drove himself into the spotlight," He continued, "However, you are not ready. You will become useless after saving just one person."

"That's harsh…" Mina mumbled.

But true, Hotaru thought, Izuku needs to figure out a way to work with his quirk. He can't become a hero if he is the one who will need to be saved. She wanted to help her friend, had even offered to train with him, but she honestly didn't know if she could. She had a good grasp on her quirk, but hers didn't have that natural, overwhelming energy that his did, and she had had years to work on hers, he just had weeks.

The class watched as their teacher released the green haired boy, hair falling back down and eyes returning to black as he released his quirk. "I've returned your quirk. Give it another shot." He frowned, "Let's get this over with."

Hotaru watched as Midoriya took his stance again after retrieving the ball. She could see that he was deeply thinking about something. Her eyes widened as she felt his quirk activate again, did Aizawa-sensei's words not get through to him? He's gonna hurt- She shook her thoughts away as she focused more on the energy her friend was building up, ignoring the other energy she could feel around her, something felt different about it. It was more concentrated, more narrow. "NOW!" Midoriya threw his ball, releasing it at the last second with a burst of his green colored energy going from his finger.

"705.3 meters!" The machine called. Hotaru went towards him, worried and excited at the same time. He had managed to figure out a way to use his quirk that didn't break his whole arm but he still managed to break his finger if the color of the burst blood vessels were anything to go by. She wanted to make sure he was alright.

"Sensei!" Midoriya spoke, tears in his eyes as Hotaru came beside him with a hand on his shoulder, "I can still move!"

"Well done Izuku!" Hotaru grinned at her friend, getting caught up in his energy. "Though that still looks like it hurts, do you need help-"

"You damn nerd!" Everyone turned towards the voice that suddenly yelled out, Bakugou was charging towards the green haired boy with a crazed, angry look on his face. "Deku you bastard! How the hell did you do that?" Hotaru pushed her injured friend behind her, glaring at the angry blond coming towards them, fully prepared to kick his ass if he touched her best friend when he was trapped in place, the explosions from his hands stopped by their teacher who was glaring at everyone with his quirk reactivated to cancel Bakugou's. "What the hell is this?" He struggled against the bindings wrapping around him.

"It's a capture weapon made with carbon fibers and special metal alloys. Stand down," He spoke calmly but firmly, "Stop making me use my quirk as well, it's giving me dry eyes." He released the blond and his quirk. "Stop wasting time. Midoriya, go to the nurse to get your hand fixed. Bakugou and Tanimori, calm down and get back in line. Whoever is next, go."

"Tch!" Bakugou spat, giving Midoriya another death glare as he stomped back towards the rest of the class who quickly gave him plenty of room as they didn't want to get in his way. "You won't always have that damn Fairy to protect you Deku!" He added, glare focusing on Hotaru who merely smirked as she rejoined Mina and Hagakure in the class, sticking a tongue out at him.

"Incase you haven't noticed Bakagou" Hotaru taunted, she could feel her teacher's glare on them as they continued to antagonize each other but decided she would risk it for the last word against the blond, "Izuku doesn't need anyone to project him anymore. Or did your temper tantrum happen for no reason when you saw his quirk in action?"

"Tanimori…" Mina whispered, smiling at the girl but also appearing nervous because she could feel the blond boys anger from where she stood.

"You damn Fairy!" The blond barked, getting even more riled up.

"Enough" The class all froze at the tone of their teacher's voice, Hotaru smiling sheepishly at him, scratching the back of her head. "Mineta, you're up. Stop wasting time. Tanimori, stop speaking. Bakugou, control your temper."

"Yes Sensei."

Author's Note 2: WOW! This chapter was longer than I intended but I just needed to keep going. There was sooooo much to get into with so many new characters and things they needed to do the first day. I hope I kept everyone in character. We also got more of Hotaru's quirk in action. I am hoping I am making it believable and not too overpowered. She's always just behind Bakugou in a lot of things and he likes to remind her of that. And we begin to see some relationship dynamics that will form or need to be addressed later in the story.

And, if you didn't notice, Hotaru has replaced Rikido Sato in the class. I had thought about her replacing Mineta, but unfortunately he is needed, or Aoyama, but he is also needed. Sato hasn't done much in the manga or anime unlike those two, who at least help move some things along. I'm sorry if anyone really liked him in the class, but I didn't want to go with a class size of 21 either, so someone had to go.

Anyway, please review and let me know what you think so far. Is this good? Do I need to rework some things? I am always open to suggestions. In fact, if we could start brainstorming a hero name for Hotaru right now...I would forever be grateful….

And, in case no one tells you today; you are important and loved.
