Chapter 6 Info Dumping
Iggy watched as Star chewed on a chocolate bar that he had taken from the kitchen. She was now dressed up in an outfit that belonged to Wendy. It was rather simple, being a white T-shirt, blue jeans, and a pair of socks. Her pajamas were lying in a clump on one side of the lab as she and Iggy were seated at one of the lab tables.
As Star continued to chomp down on the chocolate, Iggy was waiting for her to explain herself. This whole experience was just surreal. Iggy had heard of imaginary friends or people met in dreams coming to life, but that was only in stories that he had read as a child. He had never expected it to actually be possible, so naturally he had to use all of his self control to keep from panicking.
After what felt like a decade to Iggy, Star finally finished the chocolate. She wiped her mouth with her bare arm and licked her lips. Iggy looked at her expectantly.
"Well?"
"Well what?" Star asked.
"Are you going to tell me what is going on?"
Star chuckled.
"Yes, yes, of course. So, basically I was in my room, writing fanfiction and posting it on the site that I normally go to. However, that all changed when I found a picture of this really weird gem on my phone. That gem…"
Suddenly, the door to the lab burst open. Iggy looked up the set of stairs and saw each of his siblings. Lemmy looked frightened when he saw his brother conversing with Star.
"Iggy! Why are you talking to her?" he shrieked. The others looked just as frightened as they approached their bespectacled brother and his companion.
"Yeah! She's practically the mayor of Crazy Town!" Larry said. Iggy took a deep breath and stood up.
"Guys, she is not crazy."
"Of course she is!" Ludwig said. "She said she is our creator! How can she not be crazy?"
Iggy took another look at Star, who gave him an encouraging nod. This gave him enough willpower to look back into his siblings' incredulous faces.
"Because she really is our creator. At least partially."
Now the others looked even more confused. Roy approached Iggy and started to tap on his skull with his knuckles.
"Did you get bonked on the head recently?" he asked. Iggy pushed Roy's arm away as he shook his head.
"No, I have not. Guys, I know this might sound crazy, but I am one hundred percent convinced that Star is who she says she is."
"Yes," Star said as she stood up. "And I'm gonna prove it." She approached Ludwig with a very serious face. "When you were only seven years old, you destroyed a city called Frostwall. This event has haunted you into adulthood, causing you to turn to music as a coping mechanism. You began living in fear, hoping that you would never do something like that again. Deep down, you are aware of the darker side of your personality and you battle with that little voice in your head telling you to give into your rage on a daily basis."
Ludwig's eyes grew wider and wider the deeper Star went into her description of him. When she was done, he was in very obvious awe. Star turned to Roy.
"When you were sixteen, you met a girl named Celia Patch. You were attracted to both her personality and her looks. You wanted to do everything for her, you wanted to make sure she is happy. It wasn't until you got over the insecurities you had about your own intelligence that you finally got a chance to kiss her for the first time."
Roy slowly took off his shades.
"Woah," he said quietly. Star turned to Lemmy.
"When your brother left the castle, you were devastated. You missed him with all of your heart. He was, after all, your older brother. When he finally did return, you were so happy that you often look upon that memory as your happy place, even to this day. You want to share that happiness with others. You want to help them see the bright side of things. You want to make them laugh, so that way, they didn't experience the worry that you did when Ludwig was gone."
Lemmy's mouth hung slightly open, his eyes were wide. Wendy cautiously stepped forward.
"How do you know all this?" she squeaked. Star grinned.
"Because I wrote it. I was inspired by the characters created by Shigeru Miyamoto. His creation has touched my life. You guys have touched my life. I wanted to give you fully fleshed out personalities and backstories. I wanted to help you become more...real."
The Koopalings exchanged looks with each other. The emotions were swirling around on their faces, being mixed together like two different colors of paint.
"That's…" Ludwig said.
"That's awesome!" Larry exclaimed. He approached Star. "So does this mean you come from an alternate world?"
"How many stories have you written around us?" Morton asked.
"Why didn't you make my muscles even bigger?" asked Roy. Star chuckled.
"Guys, guys, I will try to answer as many questions as possible." She sighed. "Unfortunately, as I was just explaining to Iggy, I do need help."
"What kind of help?" asked Lemmy.
"The kind of help that would involve us looking for a needle in a haystack. You see, I had encountered a picture of a gem on my phone. It was called the Transporter. When my thumb accidentally touched it, it whisked me off to this world. I need to find it and get back to the real world. Preferably, before my parents and siblings realize I went missing."
Iggy put his hand to his chin.
"Hmm. The Transporter. What did the picture look like?"
"It was a blue gem with purple accents. It was also rhombus shaped."
"Do you know how big it is?" Wendy asked. Star shook her head.
"No. I didn't have a frame of reference."
Iggy stroked his chin. He dug back into the far corners of his memory, trying to uncover anything he might have heard about a gem with those descriptors. Unfortunately, his mind came up blank.
"Well, it doesn't sound familiar. We might have to search the castle library."
