Chapter 7 The Trope Troll
The bookshelves towered over the party. The smell of dust seemed to cling to everything, including Star's clothes. She rubbed her nose and sniffed. Once she had finished with this, she pulled another book from off the shelf. She gasped when she saw it.
"Woah! A Court of Thorns and Roses exists in this world?" She started flipping through the fantasy book. The further along she went, the more fascinated she became. "It's written exactly the same as in my world! Man, I should really get to rereading it."
So, with her nose buried in the book, she started to make her way toward the tables in the center of the library. Unfortunately, she was stopped by Morton.
"Is that the book that contains information about the Transporter?"
Star lifted her head and blinked at the brown skinned Koopaling.
"Well, no…"
Morton raised a very thick eyebrow.
"Then put it back," he said sternly. Star let out a huff.
"Whatever you say, Mom."
With that, Star went back and placed the book in place that was relatively close to where she found it. She let out a frustrated breath as she pulled more books off the shelves. She found a book called The Basic Principles of Quantum Mechanics and a short story called Night Shadow Episode 5: Nagini the Viper. She even found a nonfiction book on Rainbow Mare and the fact that it had an oddly expansive fandom. Unfortunately, she did not find what she was looking for. She groaned as she tossed the books into the ever growing pile in the walkway.
"This is going to take an eternity at least," she said grumpily. She started to search through the bookshelf that was parallel to the one she had been scouring through. "Why did I have to write this place as being so big?"
She pulled out another book. This one happened to be one of hers. It was Super Koopalings Episode 3: Untitled. She chuckled as she remembered the events that led her to writing that story. It involved her meeting the Koopalings for the first time. While it was far from her best work, it did make her feel nostalgic.
Star flipped to Chapter 5. When she scanned through the story, she found a line that made her stop dead.
"Well, in my stories, I have written myself as an all powerful being with unlimited magic. I can teleport you guys bak."
Despite the very obvious and intentional typo, this line got Star thinking. She wondered if she still had the powers that she possessed in Untitled. That would be extremely helpful right about now!
She decided to test it out. She pressed her finger to her temples and squeezed her eyes shut.
"Make these bookshelves disappear."
Star did not know what to expect, so she was extremely impressed at how quickly it seemed to work. The bookshelves poofed out of existence just like that. The Koopalings gave each other confused looks as they stood in different corners of the room.
"What just happened?" Roy asked in confusion. Star just laughed.
"Yes! I knew my character was labeled as a self insert Mary Sue for a reason!" She got another idea. "Make the book that contains the Transporter appear."
Just like that, a dusty green book appeared in Star's hands. She grinned.
"Hey guys, I found the book!"
The Koopalings approached Star. They all looked slightly taken aback.
"How the World Eight did you do that?" Ludwig asked.
"It's a long story," Star said. She chuckled. "Well, long only if you consider an 8,262 word fanfiction to be long." She handed the book to Iggy. "Monsieur, will you do the honors?"
Iggy raised an eyebrow, but took the book regardless. He started to flip through it, and the party gathered around. When Iggy got to the page that he wanted to find, he cleared his throat before reading out loud.
"The Transporter is a very rare and very dangerous gem. Just touching it can transport someone from one dimension to the next. While nobody knows its exact location in the Real World, it has been discovered to reside in a cave in the Mushroom World. This cave's location is disclosed so no one will go looking for the gem."
Larry scoffed.
"Well, that's helpful," he said sarcastically. Lemmy nodded.
"Yeah, how can we expect to find it if we don't know where it is?" He asked.
"Uh, guys, hello?" Star said. "Have you forgotten that I am an all powerful being with unlimited magic in this universe?"
Ludwig snickered.
"Is that how you got the bookshelves to disappear?"
"Among other things," Star said. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I am going to use my awesome powers to locate the Transporter's cave."
Star placed her hand to her temple again. As she closed her eyes, she could see the entire Mushroom World open to her. She squinted harder, trying to locate the transporter.
"Sarasaland," she whispered. She opened her eyes and smiled. "It's in Sarasaland!"
Just as Star said that, the book that was in Iggy's hand seemed to (for lack of a better word) glitch. Iggy dropped it in shock as it seemed to flicker in and out of existence. The Koopalings all stared down at the book with their mouths hanging open.
"What's going on?" Wendy asked. Star waved her hand to dismiss the question.
"Don't worry, I'm sure it's normal." She smiled. "Well, guys, it seems we are all going on a trip to Sarasaland! This is exciting!"
Ludwig nodded.
"Yeah. I suppose that we can all get our Koopa Clown Cars to…"
Before Ludwig could finish, Star snapped her fingers. This caused the Koopa Clown Cars to appear right then and there. Ludwig's voice trailed off.
"...get...going."
"Good idea!" said Star. "Meanwhile, I'll use my awesome flying powers to fly alongside you all."
As she said that, Star rose into the air. The Koopalings gawked at her.
"Okay, seriously!" said Ludwig. "Does anyone else see how broken this is?"
"It is a little excessive," said Iggy. "Star, are you certain that using this much power is a good idea?"
Star chuckled.
"Duh! I am the protagonist here!" She zipped toward the exit. "Come on guys, let's go!"
The Koopalings gave each other looks. Shrugging, they all got into their Koopa Clown Cars and followed after our resident Mary Sue.
