The mistletoe hung from the fireplace, that warmed the area around the two that sat there, staring and drinking eggnog. They were laughing their cute little laughs, comforting each other, just being themselves for the first time in forever. It was fun for them to do this. They hadn't been able to do something like this in forever because of things that went on with work and family. Their family had split because Luz wanted to stay in the Demon Realm with Eda, King, Gus and Willow, and her wife, Amity, but her family wanted her to come home and stay away from the realm forever. Luz cried for seven long days when the family split, luckily they didn't have to deal with the Blights because they had died nearly five years ago. Amity wasn't bothered by this at all.

After all, she was twenty-one and happily married to Luz when her parents died, and Edrick and Emira had run off together, trying to avoid the law, for some anonymous reason because they never told anyone why. Now though, they were twenty-six and happily married, sitting under near the fireplace with cookies on the side table next to them drinking eggnog, that had a hint of alcohol in it, and enjoying each other. However, they had terrible jobs and had no presents for each other.

Luz wanted a Beautiful necklace case for her golden necklace, that held emeralds within it. Amity wanted a case for her silver watch that had come from the human realm long, long ago. It was Christmas Eve, which was the problem because they were, indeed, poor. But at the moment, they just sat there enjoying one another's presence under the fireplace.

"Luz, are you excited for Eda, King, Gus and Willow to come over?" Amity asked.

Luz looked straight at the fireplace, reaching her hands out to warm them. "Heck yeah. I'm just scared what they'll say about having no presents."

Amity sighed. "Well, I'm sure they'll understand."

Luz smiled, then frowned. "What if they don't?" She said, turning her head towards Amity.

Amity was stunned by the question, but she had to give an answer. "Well…. never mind all that. This is Christmas. It's about family, not presents."

Luz turned back to the fire and smiled. "Yeah, I guess you're right."

Amity pulled her hand up to check her watch which read "3:56 pm" and noticed something in the reflection. It hung over the fireplace as a beautiful plant with two red berry looking dots on it. The color of it was green, and Amity immediately knew what it was. It was the mistletoe.

"Hey Luz, look at what's above us." Amity said, pointing up.

Luz looked up and saw the mistletoe and immediately blushed, but smiled. "Well then, I guess we have to follow tradition."

Amity laughed. "Aww, really. Bleh, dumb human traditions."

Luz smiled and stared at Amity as she stopped laughing. For a moment, they just stared into each other's eyes, enjoying each other's looks. Then they slowly started to move closer together. As their heads reached each other, their lips pressed together. They immediately tasted the sweetness, felt the joy, and felt the greatness of the kiss. They kept their heads together as they kissed, feeling the blissfulness. The feeling of non-stress fell among them as they felt every stressful situation drop off of them. As they departed from their kiss, Luz hadn't had enough so she went back in and knocked Amity over in the let out a snort of laughter and tried to push Luz off as she continuously laughed.

"Luz stop." She said as she pushed Luz off a little bit.

Luz did as Amity commanded and they sat back up on their laps and just laughed. As they continued to laugh, they heard a knock at the door, and Luz jumped up immediately and made the jolliest face. She walked up to the door and opened it to see Willow and Gus. They entered And Eda followed suit.

"Hey kid." Said Eda, with a smile.

Luz hugged Eda. "Hey Eda. I'm so glad you could make it."

"Yeah," Eda said, "me too kid."

Gus walked over to Amity and hugged her. Amity returned the embrace, and after the hug was done, she was met by another one from Willow. While the hug was happening, Gus snagged a cookie as he grabbed it and brought it to the counter. Eda, King, Gus and Willow sat down in the living room while Luz and Amity got the food. They brought it out to everyone and served it. After that, they just sat there and chatted.

"So when are we going to do presents?" Asked King. "The king of demons wants to fear some ribbons to shrewd."

Luz's smile turned to a frown. "Sorry, we couldn't afford presents this year."

King was about to go off, but Eda stopped him. "That's ok girls. Christmas isn't about presents." King let out a whine, and Eda hit him in the head.

They continued the night blissfully, and eventually, it hit 5:00 pm, which was time to go present shopping, and everyone said their goodbyes and good nights, but after that, Luz left and went to the jewelry store to get Amity her present. However, as Luz walked up, a hand reached for the open sign and turned it around to "closed". Luz gasped and put her head up to the glass.

"Hey," she said through the glass, "is someone in there?"

Someone walked up to the glass. "Yes?"

"Please let me in. I have to get a present."

The man at the glass denied, but before he left noticed that she had a golden necklace. He walked over to the door and opened it. "I think we can arrange something."

On the other side of town, amity was at a grocery store, looking for a necklace case. She found one and walked up to the counter to check it out. The cashier scanned it and asked for $12.67. Amity looked around her pockets, but found nothing, not even in her wallet.

"Do you think we could trade?" She asked.

The cashier accepted as Amity gave her the silver watch. Amity started to walk home, not knowing that the present was now useless. Everyone fell asleep and then it was Christmas Day. Amity and Luz sat on the couch and kissed each other good morning. Amity and Luz exchanged gifts, opened them and their mouths dropped as they saw the presents.

Luz got a necklace case, but she had traded her necklace. Amity had gotten a watch case, but had traded her watch. They both looked at each other and hugged. They didn't care about the presents, they were just glad that they cared enough about each other that they traded their prized no possessions for one another's presents.
