A/N: A little (much more) shorter, but you know… The last chapters should be longer. Have some Sirius!

The only thing Sirius sees that morning is gold. Gold, gold and more gold: everywhere. It doesn't really matter that it's Bella's engagement party to some sod who's name he can't even remember.
What matters is that Yule is tomorrow, so the elves have decorated the whole house in traditional Yule colours: green, silver, but also red and gold. Sure, there are Slytherin colours, but those are there all year long. Red and gold on the other hand only come around at Yule, and he had never noticed it as much as this year.
The golden baubles in the tree shine with a lustre of promise and freedom. There's even golden tinsel and golden snowflakes and gold is absolutely everywhere. It's magnificent. He's positively enthralled.
When Bella finally says yes to Rudolph or whatever his name was, Aunt Druella brings out the champagne flutes, and Sirius is delighted to find that they're lightly tinted gold. He also notes how the bracelet on her hand is also solid gold, where she normally wears silver. It's beautiful.
"You okay, Sirius?" Meda asks, when the elf almost spills juice all over his shirt because he wasn't paying attention to what he was doing.
"Hmm," Sirius nods absent-mindedly.
"Got other things on your mind?"
"Hmm." And one thing in particular: a brilliant, brilliant shade of gold.
"Well, I'd suggest you pay a little attention or Bella is going to kill you," Meda says with a chuckle.
Once again he nods, but there isn't much that'll distract him off his new-found love of all things Yule. Well, apart from the yummy little hors-d'oeuvre Regulus and him are stuffing their faces with, so much that it's sure they'll never be hungry for lunch. But apart from that, not even Bella's death stares will manage to tear his gaze off the beautiful Gryffindor colour.
