Introduction: I wanted to introduce this story. This is not my first fan fiction but it is for the TV Show Vikings. I just want to point a few things out that I have changed.
I do not own these characters or the rights to them.
Okay so in this story I will be acknowledging that Bjorn and Gyda are twins. Going back through the first season I realized that in episode 1 and I believe episode 7, Bjorn and Gyda are both referred to as being 12.
I have also change a few events are brought them in earlier to fit the story. Events up to season 2 episode 4 are the same. However Lagertha will visit the Seer before the events of season 3 and Ragnar will be discontented with being in charge much earlier than season 4
Ragnar walked to Siggy's home, not knowing what he was going to say. He knew he wanted Lagertha to stay, he knew that the past four years had not eased the pain of her leaving or remove the love he felt for her. Ragnar knocked on the door.
Siggy answered the door
Ragnar: May I come in (walks in). I wanted to speak
(Lagertha and Rollo stand up)
Rollo: We all know why you are here (grabbing a cloak, as he and Siggy walk out the door.)
Now alone- Ragnar: I wanted to know
Lagertha: what I was going to do
Ragnar: concerning my son
Lagertha: ahhhh, I don't know what to do, Bjorn appears happy here
Ragnar: Then he should stay, you both should stay
Lagertha: Your wife will not be happy about this
Ragnar: Supposed not, I want to show you something
Lagertha: what
Ragnar: come with me
The rain had stopped, Ragnar and Lagertha begin walking until they came to a cottage. It look liked so much like the cottage where Ragnar and Lagertha lived with Gyda and Bjorn, something that felt like a lifetime ago.
Lagertha: what is this? (Walking into the cottage behind Ragnar
Ragnar: Mine (Shutting the door behind him and lighting the fire pit)….. Although no one else has ever been here. It is the only place I do not feel alone.
Lagertha: How could the great Ragnor feel alone? Why bring me here, if it is yours and you have told no one else about it. (Tears in her eyes) It reminds me so much…
Ragnar: So much of what? (Continues to light the cottage and removes boards from the window)
Lagertha: of all that I have lost (sits on the small chair next to the bed)
Ragnar: (knowing what she means but wanting to change the subject) if you want you can come and go as you please. Or you could stay wherever you pleased
Lagertha: And how would that be possible. I am married to Earl Sigvard, as well you are to Aslaug. What is that you want of me Ragnar.
Ragnar: I want you to stay. (not being able to make eye contact)
Lagertha: And why would you want that, for I am broken. And you, you have your children, your princess wife. What you would need me for? Why do you bring me here, to this place to bring up all such memories? Do you want to punish me?
Ragnar: Punish you, I have no need to punish you. I love you, I did not ever want you to go. YOU LEFT ME, BJORN LEFT ME! (raising his voice)
Lagertha: I left you…. I left you, No Ragnar, you left me the moment our son died. You do not think I grieved my son, my failure to give you what you wanted the most. What of me and how I felt, I carried that child in my belly. I felt him kick, I felt his life in every way. And what of that of Gyda, I watched my daughter slip away. I lost my baby, my daughter, my husband and my home. I am sorry, I am bad at making babies for the great Ragnar.
Ragnar: Your children, they were mine as well as yours, Lagertha.
Lagertha: How easily we were replaced in your heart. You have a new family now, what use is there for the old one?
Ragnar felt Lagertha's words as if they were stabs to his heart. How could she not know he would never replace their children? That Aslaug and his children had nothing to do with their lost. Ragnar also felt guilt, thinking back to the moment, he asked the GODS, who would give him his sons. He had been so busy with prophecy he had forgotten about Lagertha's pain. Guilt overwhelmed, Ragnar
Largertha: I want to leave? (getting up walking to the door and instantly turning around) Why did you fight for my hand in marriage, Ragnar Lothbrok? Why did you set upon that bear and the hound, if you could not love me past my failures? Why not leave me at all? Do you think I married Sigvard, for love? I married Sigvard because was an Earl and though I would be able to bring me children back to this life. I could get my title back. I would gone to the ends of the earth with you, if it meant we were together.
Ragnar breaks free of his thought, with tears in his eyes, runs over to Lagertha. (grabbing her face)
Ragnar: Because I loved you then and I loved you now. You are a part of all that I am. I became so lost in the Seer prophesies, that I lost sight of you. Yet what I feel for you has not changed, it haunts me. Tell me it does not steer in your soul as well? (with tears running down his eyes)
Lagertha: What I feel means nothing
Ragnar: Since you have been here, it feels that I have walked by you a thousand time to get a glimpse of you, and then my soul aches. You came here to help me, you came back to me.
Lagertha: I came because it was what my son asked.
Ragnar: that is not the only reason?
Before Lagertha could answer, Ragnar begin to kissing her so deeply, that she could feel her nipples getting hard and in between her legs getting wet. Lagertha tried to hit Ragnar and push him away. But that only made him kiss her more and with that, he lifted her waist and carried her to the bed.

Lagertha: I don't know. I have no want to be a wife, who is now the ex-wife that is now the concubine
Ragnar: That is not what I want
Lagertha: I know what you want, Ragnar, you want a threesome. A threesome that I had no choice in. Those wounds are not so easily healed. When Aslaug arrived, it had not been two years, since I lost my children. You did not tend to me, you talked of your pain, not mine. You talked of your fate, like our fate together no longer matter. Ragnar: It was not my intent to hurt you, and I am saddened by all that I have done to hurt you. I cannot repay you for bring my son back, for helping me reclaim my land. I cannot take the sting of that pain away from you, I can dedicate my time to making up for it. I will not send Aslaug away, for she is pregnant now and is the mother of my children. But if you come back to me, I will make separate quarters for her and never lay with her again.
Lagertha: I will not sleep in the room you share with me, then her.
Ragnar: I will make, you and I a new room. With power comes loneliness.
Lagertha: I need time think, I will go back Hedeby, the ride will give me time to think. We should go the hall and a feast is probably prepared. We should get back so we are not missed.
Ragnar: In a little while, lay with me.
As Lagertha laid next to Ragnar, he took her in his arms and begin to kiss her forehead.
Ragnar: Lagertha
Lagertha: Yes
Ragnar: In your dreams are we always still together
Lagertha: (speechless) Yes
As Ragnar and Lagertha walked into the hall, everyone became silent and looked at the formal couple. Lagertha quickly walked over to Bjorn, as Ragnar took the floor the thank everyone and told them to enjoy the feast. Ragnar took his place beside Aslaug and begin to play with Ubbe and Hvistek.
Aslaug: You smell of her, when is she leaving
Ragnar: Have I not already explained this, I have never been able to decide whether she leaves or stays. I will not ask her to leave. If it were not for her and her men, we would not be here.
Aslaug: I am grateful
Ragnar: I have asked her to stay and to be my wife again
Aslaug stares at Ragnar, with hurt and anger. Ragnar can feel her look, yet he ignores her.
Rollo and Siggy look on, wondering what will happen.
Siggy: I think Ragnar is still in love with Lagertha and I believe she still loves him as well. Do you still love Lagertha.
Rollo: I believe a part of me will always love Lagertha. But that part is no longer here and what remains is my love for you.
Siggy: How is it that you loved your brother's wife
Rollo: When we were young, I longed for Lagertha. I spoke to Ragnar, about her almost nightly. He in turned called me, the shield madden's pet bear. I had plan to ask for her father's permission to marry. Ragnar never seemed to care, or to even notice her. I failed to notice that when she was at the market or around, Ragnar would talk to her. One night on we were all on a raid and Lagertha saved Ragnar's life. That night, as we sat around the fire drinking, I watched as they talked, laughed, and shared silent looks. I wanted to kill my brother with my bear hands that night. As we drunk that night, Ragnar passed out, and Lagertha was drunk and I laid with her. In my heart, I knew she thought I was my brother, but I did not care. I
In the morning when we woke. I figured Ragnar would see us, not have interest anymore, and I would be able to marry her.
We woke, Lagertha was horrified and apologetic and to my surprise Ragnar was upset, but not at Lagertha, at me. Ragnar was smart enough to know what I had done. As we sailed home neither of us spoke. I did not lose my resolve. I planned to go her father and ask for her hand. On the road to her home, I found Ragnar also on his way.
What I did not know was that that would not know was that this was not Ragnar's first time asking for her hand and that all the time I had been talking about Lagertha to my brother, he secretly longed for her and had been plotting against me. It was the first time, I wanted to kill my brother. This does not matter, she favored him. They all do, the GODS, our parents, the people.
Siggy: I do not.
Rollo begin to smile
Bjorn stops playing with Ubbe and Hvistek and walks over to his mother.
Bjorn: Hello mother, where were you, I came looking for you
Lagertha: Your father walked me around Kattegut to see what has changed.
Bjorn: funny I did not see you two.
Lagertha: Careful Bjorn. You are happy here, aren't you?
Bjorn: Yes mother, I am. I forgot what it was like to here
Lagertha: Then you should stay
Bjorn: Mother, what of you. Will you stay, I know why you left, but please mother. You are not happy in Hedeby. Please stay mother, I would not feel comfortable with you going back
Lagertha: I will be okay, I have to return to Hedeby, if I did not, it would start a war. A war Your father nor you nor his men could stand right now. I will be fine. I will return to Hedeby in the morning. My dear son, I love you
Bjorn: I love you to mother
Bjorn hugged his mother and then left to speak with Ragnar, who was speaking to Floki.
Bjorn: Father, I need to speak with you alone
Floki: It is fine, I will work on what you asked Ragnar
Ragnar: thanks Floki, I need it by the morning
Bjorn: Father you must make her stay
Ragnar: Bjorn you know as well as I do, I have no control over whether your mom stays.
Bjorn: she will not be safe there
Ragnar: what are you speaking of? (searching Bjorn eyes)
Bjorn: Earl Sigvard is not a nice man, and he is not gentle with mother. I should have killed him before we came here
Ragnar: (jaws begin to clinch and anger begin to rise) What of Sigvard has he done to Lagertha
Bjorn: She cannot return
Ragnar: do not worry my son, I will handle it, in time.
Bjorn hugs Ragnar and leaves to find his brothers. As the feast winds down and the people begin to go home. Ragnar cannot focus, he is angry at both himself and Lagertha. Aslaug walks up to Ragnar. At that moment Lagertha made an announcement that she would return to Hedeby in the morning. Aslaug and everyone thanked Lagertha for her aid. Aslaug had never felt so relieved in her life.
Aslaug: Are you coming to bed?
Ragnar: I have things to take care of, go on now put the children to bed
Aslaug felt her blood boiling, she now knew more than ever how Lagertha felt all those years ago. Ragnar walked outside to find Lagertha standing by the sea with the moon beaming down. Ragnar stood beside Lagertha.
Ragnar: You want to tell me anything
Lagertha: What is it Ragnar, I am tired. I think I will go to sleep at Siggy's
Ragnar grabbed Lagertha's arm and dragged her back to the cottage. Lagertha kept trying to pull away the hold time.
Lagertha: Stop Ragnar, why are you pulling me. Stop Ragnar
Walking them through the door, Ragnar slammed the door and re-lite the fire
Ragnar: Why did you not tell me
Lagertha: tell you what
Ragnar: Sigvard put his hands on you. You left me to allow a man to harm you and what of my son
Lagertha: Who are you to talk I am not your wife.
Ragnar: YOU ARE ALWAYS MINE, TELL ME
Lagertha attempted to leave, Ragnar reaches out and grabs her.
Ragnar: is that what you left me for
Lagertha: I left you because you gave me no choice and you know that. I am not your wife and I have no need for you protection.
Ragnar then snatches Lagertha in his arms, lifting her up and throwing her on the bed. As Ragnar begins to kisses Largertha on her neck, she attempts to resist but cannot bring herself to stop Ragnar. Instead she turn on her stomach and allows Ragnar to unbutton her dress and slip it down until she has nothing on. The two kiss passionately as they are intertwined, Lagertha can feel Ragnar leaving marks on her chest and she knows if her husband were to see these it surely mean her death, but she cannot bring herself to stop him. Ragnar grabs her neck as he slips his penis inside of her, thrusting in and out until neither have anything left. They lay in missionary position until Ragnar finds the strength to roll off and hold Lagertha in his arms as they drift to sleep.
Back at the base Kattegut, Siggy knows there is no reason to wait up for Lagertha, because she knows there is no way she will return tonight.
Elsewhere Bjorn and Porunn keeps Earl Sigvard busy with wine and laughter, so that Lagertha's absence is not noticed.
Aslaug lays in bed alone, in tears for she knows where Ragnar is and what he is doing. Aslaug reminded herself this would be all over in the morning when Lagertha left for Hedeby.
Ragnar is awaken to Lagertha getting dressed and ready to leave. Ragnar wants to force her to stay but he knows there is no point, Lagertha has made up her mind.
They both walk back into the base of Kattegut before anyone wakes up. No saying a word to one another, Lagertha goes to say bye to Siggy and Bjorn, as well as wake the men for their journey home.
Ragnar instead sends for Floki to get what he has prepared for Lagertha.
As the towns people begin to gather in the hall, they all thank Lagertha and her men, and say their goodbyes.
Aslaug thanks Lagertha for what she has done for her family, while standing by Ragnar to stake her claim.
Lagertha looks to Ragnar and tells him that she is leaving Bjorn in his hands and for him to protect him for Bjorn is all that she has left.
Lagertha's words cut Ragnar like a knife, as his guilt for the incidents of four years ago weigh on his conscience.
As Lagertha is about to mount her horse, Floki runs up, giving her a big hug slips Ragnar's present in her hand.
Lagertha looks down and sees that it is an silver bracelet with Bjorn, Gyda's name and a symbol that stands for her dead's son inscribed on it and on the inside symbols of a bear and hound to signify their love.
With tears in her eyes she looks backs at Ragnar and nods her head. To which with tears, Ragnar nods his head.
Aslaug looks on wanting to scream.
Aslaug: Now we can return to our lives
Ragnar: Yes
Aslaug: You do not seem pleased. How hard it must be for you to see your precious Lagertha leave
Ragnar: Leave it
Aslaug: maybe you should have never slept with me, then you and Largetha and your ONE son could be happy.
Ragnar resist the urge to slap her and instead walks away to speak with Floki about tracking Jarl Borge down.
Largetha returns to Hedeby to a very anger Earl Sigvard, who is even angrier that she has not brought Bjorn back with her. Earl Sigvard refuses to sleep with Lagertha, who is pleased as he won't be able to able to see the hickeys left by Ragnar all over her body.
Earl Sigvard sets Lagertha up to be assaulted in the night by men. Lagertha tries to fight them off but is unsuccessful.
At dinner the next night, Earl Sigvard begins to disrobe her in front dinner guest, to which Lagertha stabs in the eye. As he screams he is beheaded by one of his men, Einar and Lagertha is crowned EARL and takes the name Earl of Ingstad.
As her body begins to heal, she sends word to Kattegut that she is okay. A few weeks later Lagertha notices she is with child. Lagertha is in disbelief and scared that she is once again pregnant by Ragnar Lothbrok, she resolves to tell no one.
In Kattegut King Horik urges Ragnar to form a new alliance with Jarl Borg. To which Ragnar agrees. However once Jarl Barg agrees and comes to Kattegut, Ragnar has his men buried and sentenced Jarl Borg to death. Ragnar puts Jarl Borg to death by blood eagle, to the annoyance of King Horik.
King Horik tells Ragnar they need a new alliance, and Ragnar send words to surrounding Earls.
Largertha upon hearing this jumps at the chance to get plunder for her new settlement and new baby. She wants her new people to be just as content as the people of Kattegut. The problem lies in hiding her pregnancy as she is now six months, from Ragnar, Bjorn and others as she is not ready for that fight. Lagertha has all of her dresses, and battle gear let out to hide her belly
Largertha sets out for Kattegut
Rollo walks into the barn to a drunk Ragnar and Torestein with new that an Earl Ingstad wants to join his raid. Ragnar agrees to meet him.
Ragnar rides in the woods to meet this Earl Ingstad to his surprise it's Largertha. Ragnar mistakes Lagertha's men for Earl Ingstad, until Lagertha comes out on her horse. Upon seeing Lagertha, Ragnar is overjoyed and laughs.
Ragnar circles Lagertha with his horse while saying Earl Ingstad.
Ragnar: Earl Ingstad, you bare a strong resemblance to my ex-wife
Lagertha: If I had given my true name, you might have turned me away. How is Bjorn (attempting to hold her stomach in as Ragnar circles her with his horse)
Ragnar: He is happy, he is looking forward to going to England
Lagertha: As am I,
Ragnar: So you are truly an Earl. (slightly angry that she had not told him before)
Lagertha: Yes, I know it is hard for you, we are equal
Ragnar: that is not what is hard (glancing at his penis, he had not bedded Aslaug since Lagertha left, in hopes for Lagertha's return)
Lagertha: I'm sure this is difficult for you
Ragnar: it is not difficult at all, how many ships
Lagertha: four ships, over a hundred warriors, So will you accept me as an ally.
Ragnar: That depends
Lagertha: On what
Ragnar: I have been betrayed by Earl's before. So if you are really Earl Ingstad the answer is no. But if you are still the Lagertha, I remember then it is a yes.
Riding back to Kattegut, Lagertha and Ragnar laughed about her new position. Ragnar was a little sad with Lagertha's new position because this would mean she would not return to Kattegut fulltime.
As Lagertha dismounted, Aslaug watched in angry that Lagertha was back in Kattegut. Aslaug walked over to Ragnar, who was at the hall getting something to eat.
Ragnar sends word to King Horik, that they have a new alliance and Jarl Barg will be executed as planned.
Largertha immediately greeted all the people, settled her men in and went to see the Seer.
Seer: It has been a while Lagertha, I was beginning to think you no longer required knowledge of the future.
Lagertha: I am I am
Seer: with child, and has not told anyone
Lagertha: will this child be born healthy, will I bear more children
Seer: I see no children in your future
Lagertha: (disappointed, licks his palm again)
Seer: The Gods still hide their intent Lagrtha, I do see a farm in blood.
Largertha walks out from the Seer, disappointed and retreats to the cabin, where this baby was made to cry and think about the future. Sitting on the edge of water, praying to the GODS to not take this child from her. England would bring new possibilities for her, the people of Hedeby and this baby. Lagertha was determined to forge her own path. As much she loved Ragnar and Kattegut, she knew deep down she could never just come back here. Aslaug had taken her place.
Aslaug: Well this was a surprise
Ragnar: (searching for Lagertha among the people), yes it was.
Aslaug: You search for her, I suppose you asked her to come along on her new adventure
Ragnar: No, I had no idea she was now an Earl and seeking an alliance. It has been seven months since I have spoken with Lagertha, she only sent word she was okay.
Aslaug: She is an Earl! Like you, you have more in common that ever. Do you still love her? (at that instance Aslaug gets a vision of Lagertha with a preganant belly)
Ragnar: (does not answer Aslaug's question), The Gods are playing a trick on me
Aslaug: Yet you cannot look at me and answer the question, is thy why she is here- whispering so no one else hears
Ragnar: (looking surprised) What! She came here to form an alliance and sail to England.
Aslaug: she is with your child, I have seen it. You must be proud two women pregnant at the same time. Is that why you have not bedded me since she left. Have I serve my purpose, now you wish to replace me.
Ragnar: You didn't seem to mind when you arrived at Kattegut. (thinking that there is no way Lagertha is with child, and not told him, was it his, he wonder)….. I have to find her
Bjorn: father, I hear mother has arrived, where is she?
Ragnar: I am unsure, I will look for her
Bjorn: I will help
Ragnar: send for me the minute you find her
Ragnar walks around Kattegut in a hast, asking for Lagertha. Until he realizes she may have went to the cabin. Ragnar comes upon the cottage and sees Lagertha sitting at the bay of the water by the cottage resting.
Ragnar: You would hide this from me
Lagertha: (Jumping up), What?
Ragnar: Aslaug had a vision of you being with child ( rushing over to put his hands on her belly and feeling a kick)… HOW FAR
Lagertha: I did not want…..(Cut off by Ragnar)
Ragnar: HOW FAR!
Lagertha: I am in my 7th month
Ragnar: You mean to keep my child from me
Lagertha: I mean to keep my child to me, you have 3 new sons and another on the way.
Ragnar: you are not going to England
Lagertha: the decision is not yours
Ragnar: you would risk the life of our chid. YOU ARE NOT GOING, the alliance is off
Lagertha: I just saw the Seer, do you know what he said, he said he did not see any more children in my future, when I asked if I would bear anymore children. If the Seer, is correct it does not matter what I do, this child like the one before will not survive. Besides I would have had the child before the voyage to England. We are not to leave for another 4 months.
Ragnar: I do not want to hear of prophesy, We will figure this child's fate together
Lagertha: Who are you to talk of fate, you have always believe in the fate of the GODS. Who are you to talk of my fate….
Ragnar: You sound like Bjorn
Ragnar kneels in front of Lagertha and places his hands on her belly, while lifting up her shirt that she had especially made to hide her belly. Ragnar places a kiss on her belly
Ragnar: You came back to help me, take back Kattegut, our fates were sealed since the day we were married. I knew one day you would come back. This baby is apart of us and I will not let you give up on him or us.
Lagertha: Don't do this, do talk like that. I cannot afford to get attached to this baby any more than I already am.
Ragnar: No more talk of prophecy, You will rest and remain in Kattegut until our child is born, If I have to tie you to a pole.
Lagertha: do you not have a blood eagle sacrifice to do tonight?
Siggy comes to see Lagertha, as Ragnar leaves angry to prepare for blood sacrifice, more determined than ever to make Lagertha stay in Kattegut.
Siggy: Are you excited to go to England (Siggy notices Largertha appears to have gained weight)
Ragnar leaves and finishes preparing for the blood eagle. The blood eagle is carried out with all watching. Lagertha stands away from everyone else not to draw to much attention.
Lagertha: Yes, it will bring much needed supplies and food to Hedeby
Siggy: I cannot believe you are an Earl
Lagertha: Believe it, I know you are loyal to Ragnar and Rollo, but you will always have a place with me Hedeby.
Siggy: The things my loyalty has forced me to do, You could not imagine.
Lagertha: What is wrong Siggy, tell me
Siggy: King Horik moves against Ragnar, and Ragnar has forgiven Rollo and spared me. So I keep him close to learn his intentions. (tears stream down her eyes)
Lagertha hold Siggy hands…
Lagertha: Men rule with their minds, but it is women who must often make the sacrifices
Siggy: Is that what you did for Ragnar, when you left
Lagertha: No, I love Ragnar, I have never stop loving Ragnar…. I have prayed to the GODS to release from this love but they do not answer. I left for me, I left because the moment our child was lost, Ragnar left me and never thought of what that lost did to me. I am stronger now, I have my own plans for myself.
Siggy: Does that involve Ragnar
Lagertha: that I do not know
Siggy: Surely this keeps you tied (Siggy placing her hand on her belly)
Lagertha: How did you know?
Siggy: Remember before you left I tended you. You may hide your belly, I see the child growing in your face. I also know when you were here last you and Ragnar laid here. Who will tend to the child, while you are in England?
Lagertha: I will find someone in Hedeby
Siggy: Ragnar will never let the child leave Kattegut
Lagertha: It is not his choice. Lets get ready for the Blood Eagle
After the blood eagle ceremony is done. Ragnar goes to the cabin to see Largertha and talk.
Ragnar: You leave in the morning?
Lagertha: Yes, I will go back to Hedeby, prepare for England and the child
Ragnar: Lagertha you will stay to the child is born?
Lagertha: It is not your decision, we are equals. If this child is to survive it will do so in Hedeby
Ragnar: I will tie you to a tree, kicking and screaming if I have to. You want to go back to Hedeby, I will go with you and you will return immediately to prepare for the child.
As Lagertha prepares to argue with Ragnar, she gets an extreme kick to sends her straight to the bed to sit down
Ragnar: Even the child agrees, sit I will make you a bath, so you can relax and we will talk in the morning
Lagertha lays down, as Ragnar prepares a bath for her. As Largertha gets in the bath, Ragnar stokes her hair and belly while singing a song.
As Ragnar is singing to her belly, Lagertha lets tears flow from her eyes, as she is now more scarred than ever this baby will die.
Ragnar and Lagertha finally lay in bed and drift off to sleep. Lagertha whisper, King Horik is trying to move against you. Ragnar replies he know and instructs Lagertha to side with Horik in everything, while he lays a trap. In the morning as Ragnar is about to make his demands for Largertha to stay in Kattegut. He receives a message from Siggy that Aslaug is in labor.
Ragnar runs to see Aslaug, whose delivery is difficult. Ragnar bites the baby's umbilical cord and notices that Aslaug prophecy has come true and the baby is born a monster.
Ragnar is rattled with sadness and tells Aslaug they should kill the child. Aslaug disagrees
Bjorn walks to the cabin to see Lagertha
Lagertha: Is that my handsome boy coming to eat breakfast with me before I leave
Bjorn: Yes, mother. How are you
Lagertha: I am great, now that you are here
Bjorn: So an Earl, and how did you come by this
Lagertha: I killed your step father. (Bjorn and Lagertha smile)
Bjorn: Gyda would be so proud of you
Lagertha: I know I where a small part of the only dress of hers that was left in every piece of my clothing to know she is always with me. And you are okay, right. If ever you want to come back, you can
Bjorn: I am okay here, why don't you stay here in Kattegut. We all know you and father lay here and laid here before. You could stay and give Uncle, hedeby
Lagertha: Bjorn, things are not that simple (Lagertha gets up and her shirt is rolled up, exposing her belly)
Bjorn: What is this, does father know, is it his or Sigvard
Lagertha: It is Ragnar's and yes he knows now, but no one else, so keep this too yourself
Bjorn: You must stay now, you are with father's child, please mother
Lagertha: I need to go back to my people
Bjorn: we are your people your family, you belong here. We can all be a family. I know why you left before, but you can stay now.
Lagertha: BJORN
Bjorn: PLEASE
Lagertha: I will comeback, I promise, I am responsible for those people. I will think about it. You can come to Hedeby and we will comeback together
Bjorn: okay
On the way to the ship Lagertha hears there is something wrong with Ragnar's new son. Siggy comes to the ship and brings her an extra cloak to keep her warm. Lagertha asks Siggy what is wrong with the baby, but Siggy denies everything.
Ragnar hears Lagertha and Bjorn are leaving and runs to the ship.
Ragnar: So you two are leaving again
Lagertha: No, you have much to tend to here, I did not want to pull you away. Bjorn will accompany me to Hedeby and I will return to have the child, if it survives
Ragnar: Don't speak of that! (snapping at Lagertha) this feels like before
Lagertha: before I never agreed to come back this time I have
Lagertha and Bjorn ride back to Hedeby and announce that she and the men will being going to England with Ragnar in the spring.
Bjorn visit with old friends, as Lagertha retreats to take a bath. Einar watches through the screen. Lagertha noticing that he is watching gets out the tub and instructs Einar to come out.
Einar is surprised to see her with child and know there is no way the child is Sigvard's. Einar threatens Lagertha, who lies and promises to marry him and make him Earl, if she backs him.
Back in Kattegut Ragnar takes the baby to the woods to kill, but cannot bring himself to kill him, so he in stead's leaves the child, where Aslaug retrieves him.
Ragnar growing impatient with Lagertha not returning right away and that a month has passed, make a trip to Hedeby, where he is welcomed by all the towns people, who are amazed by the great Ragnar.
Ragnar is greeted by Bjorn, who tells him Lagertha has been in labor for two days. Ragnar runs to her room.
Ragnar: Why did you not send word!
Lagertha: Been a bit busy, (in between breaths) the child does not want to come. Something is wrong, it taunts me
Ragnar: what is wrong, why has the child not come (looking at the mid-wife)
Mid-Wife: She is in labor but her water has not broke
Ragnar: why
Mid-Wife: the child is not ready
Lagertha: grrrrrrrl, the Seer told I could not have another child, I thought I could change the fates. Now my life as well as the child is in the balance.
Ragnar: I do not want to hear of this (walks out the room to Bjorn, who is standing there terrified)
Ragnar: Bjorn quickly go make sacrifice (just then they hear a loud scream)
Ragnar and Bjorn run back in the room to see that Largetha water has broken and the midwife hand is under her dress, as she stands, legs bent and prepare to push
Lagertha: I am not ready, something is wrong
Mid-wife: you are ready so is the child now, come on you can do this
Ragnar and Bjorn are pushed push outside to allow other ladies to help Lagertha begin to push. Not wanting to wait outside, Ragnar runs in, in-time to see the baby slide out.
Largertha almost drops to her knees in exhaustion as the baby is out. Ragnar runs up to help hold her up.
Largertha: What is wrong I do not hear the child, what is it? (Ragnar runs to the mid-wife and the child, who is clearing the airway, Ragnar takes the child and begin to pray to ANY GOD that will listen not to take the child and suddenly the child begins to cry)
Ragnar: It is a girl, she is fine, she is perfect (Lagertha and Ragnar begin to cry)
Lagertha: OOOHHHHHHHH, what is that, I feel something. OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Mid-Wife: Runs back to Lagertha and instructs the ladies to get her to the bed, so she can see. There is another, you must push again
Largertha: What!
Mid-Wife: there is no time, PUSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
Ragnar: gives his daughter to the another ladies and goes to Lagertha side. Seems like the GODS have other plans
Lagertha: Looks at Ragnar and pushes out the second child, who comes out screaming as if it was a GOD itself.
Ragnar: bites the umbilical cord of the second child, whose screams is the loudest of all his children. It is another girl. Bless the GODS this days
Ragnar and Bjorn sit and hold the children while Lagertha is tended to and cleaned.
Bjorn: I thought the Gods said you would have many sons, these two are missing parts (laughing)
Ragnar: I have five sons, that is more than enough, girl smell better anyway
After a night of rest, Lagertha and her daughters are reunited, where she and Ragnar decide on the names Hilde (fighter) and Inge (Hero's daughter).
They stay in Hedeby for two weeks until both mother and children are well enough to travel. Lagertha names Kalf as her regent while she is to be in England.
Ragnar sends word that he is returning with Lagertha and children, much to the dismay of Aslaug, who was left alone with her baby, when he was only a month as Ragnar ran to Lagertha.
Ragnar, Lagertha and the children are welcomed into Kattegut in a celebration. Ragnar acknowledges the children and explains their names
Torstein: Awwww Ragnar, seems the Gods continue to smile on you
Ragnar: Yes they have
Torstein: Now that she is an Earl will she stay
Ragnar: I don't know but have the rope ready
Aslaug: Seems as if you have your wish, we need to name the child
Ragnar: I know, you can decide, but he should have a strong name If he is to survive in this word.
Aslaug: How about Ragnar the absent (walks away)
Weeks go by and now it is the time for England. Ragnar has spent his moments with his children and Lagertha, leaving Aslaug and Ivar (the name Aslaug settled on) alone most of the time.
Lagertha decides Siggy will watch the children while she is away.
Aslaug determined that she will not be sideline by the great Lagertha, as she watched Ragnar and her own children Ubbe, Hverske and Siggard spend time with her. Aslaug walks to the cabin with Ivar to make Ragnar spend time with him. Upon her arrival she over hears Ragnar talking the Hilde and Inge
Ragnar: Do you two know, you look just like your sister GYDA, she was so beautiful and just like her I will stoke your long hair as it grows. You a man can be jealous of his sons, but his daughter will always hold a piece of his heart. And that is where you two are right by your mother, Bjorn, Ubbe, Hverstke, Siggard and Ivar are.
Aslaug hurt and annoyed that Ragnar did not mention her in his speech, felt more alone than ever.
