If anyone is still waiting for this story, I am here to tell you this: Don't. After the last update, I've had a heck of a year in regards to (re)discovering new fandoms. I no longer have any sort of interest vested in Naruto aside from some ludicrous crossover stories.
It kind of kills a part of me to do this, because this was a project I had loved with all my heart. But as I find myself growing older and exploring new things, I can no longer hold on to Naruto. Additionally, the writing of the story is now at a quality I consider outdated and no longer really represents me as a person.
So it's time to let go.
I'll briefly sum up how the rest of the story was supposed to go. It'll be off the top of my head, so please bear with me.
Deidara was to to travel to Uzushio. A series of (un)fortunate events leads to her joining the palace as one of Princess Mito's ladies in waiting. At the same time, Ai Wei was supposed to rediscover her identity as an Uzushio descendant. Deidara sympathized with Mito's trouble and her process of healing continues. In the end, however, she strong-arms Mito into providing armed forces to fight against the invading Tsukigakure.
Sasori was to undergo character and spiritual development among the Samurai. Forgiveness and redemption were part of his character arc, and Kakashi's presence served to facilitate it. Sai was there as well, and eventually comes around to join their side, abandoning Danzo.
Meanwhile, Shikamaru and Temari have their own political adventures in Suna. Eventually, Shikamaru sways Suna to fighting with Konoha despite rocky relations in the past.
A full-scale invasion was launched in Konoha—the climax of the story. Kagami died brutally in battle—mauled and eaten alive, calling out for mercy from her abusive father in her final breaths. Thanks to Konohamaru, Moegi, and Udon and Hanabi, however, many civilians managed to escape using their planned routes.
Prior to this, Kakuzu jumped back into the story by betraying his allegiance with Danzo and operating on Sasori's brain to give him control over the Zetsu monsters (in the sense that they recognised him as their 'alpha' of sorts), using Orochimaru's research. Unfortunately, a seal was also added to the brain that attached a part of Orochimaru's soul to Sasori, hence why in the 'bad ending' series, Orochimaru acted as Sasori's subconscious.
Sai died in battle. It was very upsetting for Sasori. Sasori and Neji then killed Danzo.
It was a whole convoluted mess, that was for sure.
Anyway, after the war, Konoha rebuilt. It was a goldmine for character development and further healing from trauma.
Casualty counts: Kisame, Chihiro, Kagami, Fatso and hundreds and thousands of other civilians.
So, yes. If you're still here, thank you for sticking with me through the two or so years I took to write this. This goes out especially to my Quotev audience. I grew up faster than I could write, and this is the result. I really do wish I stuck with it, but I can't find it within myself to.
Anyway! Happy New Year! 2021 is just around the corner as I write this.
I hope it treats you all well.
