Chapter 12

Hidden truth

'Should i? Should I not?'

Bonnie felt an internal struggle inside as she approached her only friend's opened locker. For a past week she noticed occasional change of mood in him, like his thoughts is somewhere else. As this weird behavior of his repeated itself day to day, guilt grew more and more inside the young witch. Recently Bonnie was so caught up improving her magic skills and Ron's grade, she absolutely forgot about the way he was when they first met. To her utter shame, she began to take his company as granted. But this boy had demons of his own, and she knew it. And yet, as they spend time at each other's company, he looked so simple, and she couldn't help to just feel at ease nearby. Like a normal teen. And now she wanted to return a favor.

Ron Stoppable was standing at his opened locker with a heavy load on his heart. He really wanted to pretend that he could just go forward, without thinking about past much. However his past was consistently getting to him, making him remember what he would want to forget. He let out a small sigh, picked a book for the next class and closed locker's door. The second it was slammed, boy got startled by a weary smiling figure, that stood behind it.

"Wah!" Ron jumped on a spot.

"Woah." Bonnie was slightly taken aback by his reaction, gripping tightly to her notes. "D-don't scare me like that."

"Sorry, sorry." Ron laughed awkwardly, putting one hand on the back of his neck. "To be fair, you scared me first."

"So, you're saying i look ugly today?" she had a little teasing tone in her voice.

"What, no, not at all! You look great, smashing, awesome, tubular…"

"I was just teasing you Ron." Bonnie chuckled.

"Ok, good." a sigh of relief found its way out. "Don't do this again."

"I make no such promises."

Hearing him frustratingly blabbering about her beauty was surprisingly uplifting, and looked sorta cute. Bonnie still had memories of how her sisters were teasing and flirting with guys. Back then she didn't really understand them, however doing it instinctively now, she finally saw an interesting side in it. On the other side, because of this little incident she totally forgot to talk to him during the break.

'Must ask him after this period.' she made a mental note, as teacher was boring her skull with seemingly pointless facts and dates.

Meanwhile, Ron, sitting behind her, couldn't concentrate on lesson at all. With each day closer and closer to the date of the football game. Yes, it wasn't mandatory for him to go there, however the sole thought that a certain person will be in Middleton instantly put a metaphorical raincloud above his head.

"Ron!" Bonnie's voice snapped him out. "Class is over."

"Ah?" he turned his head away from the window, seeing his friend packing her stuff in the back bag. "Yeah. Thanks."

'Ok, that's it, I'm talking to him right now!' Bonnie's determination skyrocketed.

"Ron, I want to ask y…"

"Where is the Mask?!" a nasally voice growled loudly.

"I don't know what a-are you t-talking about." another, more familiar voice answered, nervously.

Both Ron and Bonnie immediately stepped into the hallway see what was going on. Poor Seymour once again was put against the wall, as a clearly pissed off guy with greyish-olivine skin, thick lips, and shaggy black hair was holding his collar in firm grip. Ron was ready to interfere with this, since he clearly haven't learned anything from his last experience. But before he made a single step forward, a good look at harassers face made him stop on the spot. There was something oddly familiar about a guy.

"The Mask, you squeeb! I can smell it remains on you. You had the Mask, so where is it now?"

A visions of insects and vipers, a scream of a monkey.

'Oh no…' Ron thought as puzzle of memories started to collect itself in his head.

"I said I d-don't know! R-r-really!" Seymour stuttered.

"Argh!" shaggy haired guy, who was about to lose his patience, pointed on a wooden mask that was hanging from his neck on a string. "It should look like this!"

"I'm telling y-you, I don't KNOW!" boy screeched desperately.

Stuffy air, shabby cabins, itching, cold nights and unbearably hot days.

'THAT place…' Ron shivered unintentionally. 'Why does he reminds me of it?... wait... did he said squeeb? Is that…'

"Ron." Bonnie whispered, tugging his sleeve. "That mask, it's..."

"Gil." little memory pieces finally stitched together.

"Gil? What?"

"I know this guy. It's Gil." Ron pointed out.

"Well, it's great and everything, but we have a problem here."

"A problem?"

"The mask!" she hissed through teeth.

"Oh, right." Ron snapped out from his state. "It does look like the one we broke."

"I'm asking you last time, you pathetic weakling." Gil shoved poor guy against the wall once again. "Where is the MASK!"

"What is going on over there?" a booming voice of a bulky substitute teacher flew through a hallway.

"Damn." Gil released nerdy guy and sprinted towards the exit doors.

"Step away." Steven Barkin commanded to a herd of students. "Would someone explain to me what this commotion is about?"

"Some dude was picking on Seymour." a random student pointed out.

"And none of you gawkers stepped in to help him?"

Somewhat shamed teenagers were avoiding his stern eyes. Some were mumbling incoherent mess quietly, while others just stood in silence, waiting for it to blow over.

"This school, i swear." Barkin pinched his nose bridge in disappointment. "Seymour, follow me, i need some details on that. Everyone else, go to your classrooms, now."

"Why does this always happens to me?" disgruntled Seymour fixed his lop-sided glasses and followed the substitute teacher.

As crowd was dispersing, Bonnie stepped straight towards the exit doors.

"Bonnie." Ron caught up with her. "Chemistry is the other way."

"We're going to follow, ehm, Gil, right?"

"Wait, now?"

"Yes."

"But the classes ain't over yet…"

"Ron." Bonnie stood at the exit already. "It's either listening boring lecture on valence electrons and isotopes, or following a potential messed up dude with monster powers who can cause some major trouble."

"Isotopes don't sound half bad…" instinct of self-preservation kicked in.

"Out." she said sternly, holding opened door wit on hand and pointing towards the street with other.

"Yes mam." he said in defeated tone.

"Good boy, now we need to find him, before he went too far away."

Playing hooky wasn't really that she would usually do, in fact she never did this before, let alone dragging someone else into it, however this situation is what she could confidently call an emergency. If her suspicions are correct and the mask is the same they fought before, it is unwise to leave it without some oversight. Thankfully he didn't go far, pacing around the school territory. Before they could be noticed by him, young Rockwaller and her friend hid behind, still broken, school bus, which was parked near the school entrance for weeks now.

"Are you sure it was THAT kind of mask?" Ron asked in hushed voice.

"It looks the same, and he did questioned Seymour about the mask he had. So it's not hard to put two and two together here."

"Ok. You are right."

"As usual." she smirked.

"As usual." Ron rolled his eyes. "So, what should we do about it then?"

"I…" Bonnie raised a point finger upwards, but slowly lowered it soon after. "…have no idea."

"Well, no idea means a lot of space for new ones."

This awkward attempted of encouragement put a little smile on her face. The situation was really unconventional and new to her. A potential danger was threatening people in a midst of a day. She couldn't confront it on the street or inside the walls of the school. There are too many witnesses, and also it might drag them in her fight. The only option would be to lure him somewhere where there are no people at all, no witnesses, no danger of exposure at all.

'My house.' cogs began to move in her brain. 'It would be perfect, but how do i get him there, i doubt anyone would go willingly to a random house… hmm…maybe…'

Bonnie put her back bag on the ground, and ruffled through it in hopes of finding a certain item.

'Come on, there should be one here. Please be here! Yes!'

"Ron." she pulled out a small amulet. "I have an idea."

"You're gonna zap yourself home and leave me here alone?" he pointed at the thing.

"No. Well, not exactly. Do you remember the bookstore i showed you couple days ago?" she saw him nod. "Right behind it there is a passage with a dead end, don't ask me how i know about it. Basically i want you to lead him into that dead end, then i'm gonna grab you both and move us all to my home, where we can deal with him."

"You sure it will work?"

"Well, i know it can teleport two people at once, never tried three."

"I was asking about leading him in there, how do i do that?" he asked with slight tremble in his voice.

"You said you know the guy. Improvise." Bonnie noticed his uncertain look. "Or you can think a better plan in five or so minutes."

"Nope, that won't happen." Ron sighed. "Ron-man is ready for mission."

"Ron-man?" she chuckled.

'Shoot, old habits…' he berated himself. "So, are we doing it now?"

"Smooth dodge." she made a quick look at their target over the corner of the bus. "But yeah, better do it now, before he'll leave."

Thinking back, Ron was never buddy buddy with that boy at the camp. Last time they spoke was when they swapped their activities, he gave out swim time, and took guy's arts and crafts. Needless to say he made some sweet wallets and lanyards, he especially ruled at lanyards.

"Hey Gil, is that you?" Ron approached guy with the widest smile he could manage convincingly. "Haven't seen you in ages!"

"Who…wait a second." Gil squinted his eyes for a moment, remembering the dumb face before him. "Ain't that the scaredly wimp Ronnie!"

"Hey, you DO remember me! I saw you at the hallway, you made a mean scene up there. What's up with that?"

"What do you care?" he spit out.

"Chill man, i was just wondering, that's all. Anyway, i know a pretty rad place, best tacos in town, how about we go there and catch up."

"Can't, need to keep an eye here, so the squeeb won't run away from me."

"Who? Seymour?" Ron chuckled. "Dude, he won't leave school or at least couple hours."

"What?"

"There's a teacher there, when there are any confrontation between students he sends BOTH of them into detention. Probably it's easier for him rather than sorting out who's right and who's wrong. And there at least one period left before it."

"I see." Gil felt his stomach rumble. "You know what Ronnie, let's go eat some tacos. Your treat."

"Sure." he shrugged off. "Let's go, it's not that far."

Boys moved away from the school zone with Bonnie carefully following them, feeling a little excitement jumping up and down in her chest. She hoped that her dad won't be mad at her for skipping classes to go after a magical artifact that turn people into monsters. However, technically, this all started on her own turf, the school, and keeping him roaming free isn't what you call a good idea.

"So, how's life treating you?" Ron asked, trying to keep his cool.

"Do you really want to know that?"

"That's a point of asking."

"Alright then. Like shit, that's how. Recently went uphill though."

"That's great. Good for you, man."

"Yeah, and all thanks to this little buddy." he pointed on the mask.

"A wooden mask? Really?"

"You don't get it Ronnie." Gil smile maleficently. "This buddy holds powers beyond your wildest imagination."

"It's a piece of wood." Ron deadpanned.

'Wow, Ron is one hell of an actor.' Bonnie thought, keeping safe distance. 'Who knew?'

"Do you believe in magic, Ronnie?" Gil asked.

"Like a magic shows and stuff?"

"No, i mean REAL magic, the one that gives you ACTUAL power."

"Nope." Ron shook his head side to side. "At least never saw anything like that before."

"You know Ronnie, i never asked how is your life?" Gil changed the topic, keeping grin on the face.

"It's…fine."

"I don't believe that. And you know what?" his voice became angrier as tips of his lips went down. "And i don't like when someone lies to me."

A shiver went down to Ron's spine, as he was pondering which way to stir conversation.

"You a scared aren't ya?" a grin came back to Gil.

"Well, to be honest, all your talk about magic-wagic is creeping me out a bit."

"No, it's not me. I can see it in your eyes Ronnie. I know those eyes. It's not me who you afraid of."

"Listen, Gil." Ron said, looking down. "Can we drop this. It's not something i'm comfortable talking about."

"You know what?" green light sparked in his eyes. "Whatever there you are afraid, i can help you with that, if you'll help me take the other mask from that squeeb."

"From Seymour?" Ron raised one brow in pseudo-amusement. "Why do you thing he has it?"

"I can smell it on him. It is faint, but it's there. He has it, or at least had. The squeeb knows where it is, i'm sure of it. And you will help me get it. And when we get it, it will be yours."

"Mine?"

"Yes, yours. Think about it. These things contain an incredible power. And once you have this power, there is nothing you'd be afraid anymore."

"That does sound nice…not being afraid." a surprising amount of sincerity was in Ron's voice at that moment.

"Me and you Ronnie, the two of us will be unstoppable."

"You know what, you got me intrigued. I want to know what is all that mask business is about. Once we are at that taco place, you're telling me all about it. Speaking of which, we can cut short there!"

Two boys turned into the dark alleyway while young witch quickly looked around, to be sure no one else will notice them, and pulled out a small trinket.

"What the hell." Gil voiced with irritation. "It's a dead end."

"Weird, i was pretty sure it's the right alley…"

Faster than they could react, Bonnie dashed towards them, grabbing Gil's shoulder with one hand, and put her other hand around Ron's neck, while holding the trinket in her palm.

"Return!"

At that moment they were blinded by a bright flash of light, as some invisible force moved them into Bonnie's living room, and knocked them away, apart from each other. Ron, unfortunately, landed right on his head, leaving him currently in a dazed state, counting stars and birds.

"What the hell was that?!" Gil roared and immediately stood up from the floor, looking around in confusion.

'Note to myself.' Bonnie thought, leaning on the wall. 'Do not move three people at once with this thing ever again.'

"Who are you?" Gil noticed a girl in the room. "Did you do this?"

Losing the little of control he had, he stepped towards her. Still a little dizzy from the impact and seeing a pissed off teen approaching her in alarming pace, Bonnie naturally freaked out.

"Gust!" she threw her arms forward.

A strong windflaw hit the boy and knocked him back at the opposite wall. His body slammed at the flat surface with a loud thud. Gil fell on his knees. Without a second thought, he brought the mask on his face. A single moment later, grimy green goo spilled from all sides of it, covering its host. As soon as Bonnie realized what is happening feel of dread rolled through her gut.

"Icicle!"

Bonnie did a swinging gesture with her hand, and in instant not so sharp chunk of ice appeared and shot itself right towards the mask. However this projectile was knocked away mid-air by already transformed webbed hand. Goo covered his whole body now. Now he resembled a creature from the old monster movie, including green scaly skin, fish-like face and gills on his neck. Without hesitation, Gil spit two chunks of grimy green muck at her. This gross substance hit her palms and forearms, gluing them to the wall. Attempts to free any of the hands by a brute force proved to be futile.

"Well, well, well. What do we have here?" Gil said with underwater-like distortion in his voice, and pulled out a smug smile with his big lips. "That's something new. Perhaps instead who are you i should ask WHAT are you?"

Instead of answering Bonnie just gave another try to free her hands, but she was still stuck hard in it.

"My muck is not some swamp sludge. It holds the essence of the power, the one that belongs to me." he walked up close. "It's no use, you'll never be able to get rid of it, unless i'd want to."

"Gust!" Bonnie shouted.

Without her hands to help control the direction of the spell, instead of a strong wind going at the monster boy, a short blast boomed in between them, dealing little to no damage. Still, it made Gil jump couple steps back.

"I see, so it's that pretty mouth of yours that is behind you power."

He gathered muck in his mouth and spewed it at her. Thanks to Bonnie's quick reflexes and somewhat agile body she managed to duck her torso and avoided the disgusting substance. It that hit the wall behind her and instantly thickened.

"You have nowhere to run. This time i won't miss."

The second he was going to spit another chunk of it, somebody tackled him from the side. Muck flew thought the room, and instead of hitting girl's face, as it was planned to do, it hit a lamp, knocking it from the nightstand. With a simple whip of the hand the attacker had been thrown of his body.

"Who…" Gil turned his head and looked at the one who messed up his attack, recognizing him instantly. "Ronnie! What the hell? Why did you shove me?"

"Sorry man, can't leave a friend in trouble." Ron said, having a slight shake in his voice.

"I'm not in…wait." he looked at the girl, and back at his former camp buddy. "I see now. You are nothing but a lying squeeb are you?!"

With anger overtaking him once again, he grabbed Ron's shirt, and ,in a flash, pulled him closer and then slammed him to the floor. An air left Ron's lungs, and just as he began hungrily gasping for good old oxygen, a monstrous leg pinned him to the floor, preventing to stand up.

"You're weakling Ronnie, always were and always will be."

'Come on, think, think.' Bonnie brainstormed ideas. 'I can't do neither gust nor icicle with my hands like that, vines can't appear through the floor, what can i do… maybe…'

"Water!" she mouthed. An increasing sphere of liquid appeared near the ceiling right above Gil's head.

"What, you want to drink or something?" Gil asked still holding Ron under his foot, totally unaware about an overhanging threat. "The nerve you have! Which reminds me, i need to shut you up!"

"Freeze."

Water above him froze instantly, and a ball of solid ice plummeted right at Gils head. A sharp pain made him dazed. Ron, understanding clearly that it is the perfect moment, pushed the leg from his chest. Monster boy lost his balance and fell straight at his own ass. Pure instinct kicked in, as Ron dug his nails at the place above and between boy's eyes where mask is supposed to be. He managed to get through the grimy gooey thick flesh and felt the edges of cursed magic object. With a strong pull, it was ripped away. Goo that formed Gil's body, as well as the one that held Bonnie at the wall, dried up in seconds.

"No, NO!" Gil panicked up and threw himself at the Ron. "It's mine! Give it back! GIVE IT BACK!"

"Bonnie!" Ron threw the mask to her and got a firm grip on Gil's hand, holding him on spot.

Bonnie caught it, threw in on the floor before her and whipped her hand forward.

"Icicle!" sharp ice hit it right in the center, cleaving it in two pieces.

"NOOOO!" Gil screamed and laid a hit to Ron's abdomen.

Grip got loose, but before he could do anything girl's hand touched his chest.

"Bind!"

Gil's hands instantly glued themselves to his own torso, and legs did the same to each other. His whole body fell on the floor, unable to do anything except a weird wormy dance.

"You ok?" she asked Ron, who held his stomach.

"I'll survive." physical pain could be heard in his words. "You know, you could do this bind thingy before teleporting us."

"Honestly kinda didn't think about it." she chuckled awkwardly. "Though not sure if it would work while he had mask on him, even around neck. Can't hold well any magical creatures, they kinda have natural resistance to it, humans only."

"Mask, my power…no… i…" Gil mumbled, with tears sliding from is eyes, head hitting the floor periodically. "I'm not a weakling. I'm not… i don't want to be…not a squeeb, i can fight back…no one can hurt me…i'm not a squeeb…"

"Yikes, that is…awkward." Bonnie winced.

Ron just looked at mentally broken acquaintance, silently, relating to him on some level. Scared, weak, helpless to do anything. Girl noticed his sudden silence, walked to the bag, lying currently on the couch, and pulled a familiar dispenser from it. With a push by her foot, Gil's body rolled, so he was facing upwards. One short spray of potion and his mind became suggestible.

"You don't know anything about mask with magic powers, or transforming into a monster, or a creature. Last thing you remember is hitting the street sign with your head. As i release you, you won't remember anything that happened at the Middleton high school, and you won't remember seeing or talking with Seymour, me, or with Ron. Next thing you'll gonna do is go where you came from." Bonnie said, and touched his shoulder. "Release."

As his body was able to move again, he stood up, having absent-minded face.

"I need to go…" he said with no emotions in voice whatsoever.

Bonnie opened the front door and let out a short whistle, gaining his short attention. Slowly, like a zombie, he stepped through the doorway and went his way.

"You know, ever since Seymour's case i'm wondering one thing..." Ron said scratching his head. "Isn't it dangerous to let them roam around in this state, like, what if they cross the road on red, and car hit them?"

"Nah, their fine, probably. Daze wearing off in four or five minutes anyway."

"Ow, ok then."

"I'll be in a second, need to wash my hands." she cringed. "I can still feel this repulsive stuff on them."

While she was making sure that not a single spot of dirt is left, Ron had found himself comfortable on the couch. His chest still stung a bit as he was breathing. Abdomen was reminding of his recent damage as well. Bonnie joined him on the couch , shaking her hands, drying them from water remains.

"Are you ok?" Bonnie asked carefully.

"Well, nothing that won't heal in a couple of days, ow, maybe a week."

"You know, we were kinda lucky that you knew the guy. Not sure we'd be able to lure him away otherwise."

"Tell me about it." Ron chuckled sadly. "It's like my past really wanted to bite me, and decided to double it to be sure."

"Double it?"

'Shit!' Ron mentally hit himself for this stupid slip.

"Does it have something to do with why you are acting strange recently?"

"Acting strange? Who me? Nah…"

"You were eating burrito with wrapping last thursday and stopped only when i pointed this out."

"I was just caught up in a thought…"

"Two or three times a day."

"Well…"

"Every day."

"It's so obvious?"

Bonnie just nodded. Disappointed in himself, Ron let a low growl and leaned his neck over couch's backrest. Bonnie felt as she went too far. She didn't want to press too much, afraid that he'd just close himself up. Ron meanwhile felt somewhat cornered. Not by Bonnie, but by himself. Part of him was tired to hold it all inside, he needed an outlet. But on the other side, wound was still too fresh.

"You know, you don't have to tell me anything if you don't want." she backpedaled a bit. "I mean, i think it might help you to talk with someone, but then again if you don't want i won't pressure you, but still i …"

"It's the Lowerton Weasels." Ron told, looking at the ceiling. "There… there's a guy in a team, he's kinda like Daemon, but ten times worse. Dude literally has whole school under his arms. Me and 2 of my my frie…classmates were making a project for a class. We did a lot of research on it, lots of time and work was put in. However when it was time to hand it over, i was suddenly cut from it. Instead of mine name, it was his on a paper. I tried to prove to a teacher that it is i who did it, but it was useless. Two guys who worked on that with me now were telling that i was lying. Teacher didn't really cared, and told me to stop bugging him, and work on my own work rather than giving false accusations towards their star football player. Principal told me the same, plus added that if i continue to press on a matter i'd get suspended. And just to add salt on the wound, whole school just turned their back on me. This guy turned everyone against me just to give a lesson to not oppose him. My…parents, their tried to talk with principal as well, but it went nowhere. In the end they decided that it would be better for me to transfer, rather than staying in that school. I was really angry, depressed, some other feelings i don't know proper words to." his voice was getting more horse, as he was holding tears. "Mom and Dad tried to cheer me up, but i was too stubborn to let it go. My birthday was going to be in a couple of weeks, and we had a tradition, every year to celebrate my birthday at the winter amusement park. This time, just to make me feel better, they decided to celebrate it earlier. We sat in the car, drove away and….and you know the rest."

"I do?" figurative dots connected themselves in her brain, as she remembered how he told her about the car crash incident before. "Ow, i see."

"You know." he whipped his eyes quickly with sleeves and put on a small smile. "It does feel a little better. Was holding all this since the hospital, i think."

"You're welcome." Bonnie said back. "I'm always ready to listen, just so you know."

"Thanks. I'm still not really comfortable to talk about it with Possible's. They have enough problems besides me. Miss Possible knows most of the story, except details about the football player and the project. I just told her that i got in the mess in school, and what went after that."

"I kinda know the feeling." Bonnie said with a little somber tone. "Wanna hear my little secret?"

"Sure, i'm all ears." he pointed at his big ears, to solidify a pun.

"Show off." she nudged his arm with an elbow. "After mom and sisters died, dad wasn't really himself for a while. Grandma, from dad's side, moved with us for couple months to help, and moral support, and in the end she asked me to move with her and grandpa. But, stubbornness is a family trait, and i got one from the both sides. Granny eventually had to go back to LA, leaving me and dad alone. He was really paranoid at the time, and since my powers just awoke, he made me promise to keep it as secret as possible, don't let anyone even suspect i have them. So, soon after that, i enrolled in Middleton Middle school, and decided to just don't talk to anyone, don't make any friends or acquaintances, keep human contact at minimum. I did it thinking that it will make dad's life easier, calmer, so he wouldn't need to worry about me. Of course recently this entire gig, borrowing your words, bit me back, as it turns out i became school's freak, with a help of a certain stalker. Which is REALLY frustrating. I'm not against being weird, this is kinda my nature, witches aren't something that considered normal in the society, however being a freak is a whole other thing. And it stinks."

"Normal is subjective and overrated anyway. I was brawling against swampy fishy monster today. That guy was a freak, you're far from it, trust me as i'm a wierdo-expert."

Bonnie couldn't resist smiling.

"Thank R…"

She was interrupted by the sound of the ringtone coming loudly from her pants' pocket. She looked at the caller id and answered the call.

"Hey dad."

"Bonnie, i got called from the school. They said you skipped a class."

'Really, skipped class just one time and they already calling my father?'

"It was an emergency. Another guy with a mask appeared and we had to go after him."

"What? Are you ok? Where are you?" he asked worriedly.

"I'm at home and…"

Call was cut instantly, and, two seconds later, Ryan Rockwaller appeared before them in a bright flash.

"… and i'm fine." Bonnie finished a sentence. "Ron took all of the beating."

"H-hello Mr. Rockwaller." Ron's shoulder tensed up.

"Hello Ronald." he nodded shortly. "Now, where is this guy with a mask?"

"We already dealt with him dad. What's left of the mask is in the corner over here." she pointed at broken pieces.

"You two dealt with it?" he glanced at the wooden remains. "Tell me everything, from the start."

Ryan listen as Bonnie explained the whole situation, starting with Gil threating another student, while Ron was cowering nearby. Mr. Rockwaller weighted the information given and sighed.

"While i don't appreciate you going after unknown creature without warning me first, and outside of your area of work, i must admit that you both did well in this emergency situation."

"So, i'm not grounded?" Bonnie asked hopefully.

"Not this time. Nice work you both."

"Glad to be helpful, haha." Ron said, trying not to stutter.

Sound of another ringtone startle him. Ron pulled out his mobile phone.

"It's Mrs. Possible. Sorry, i, ehm, i need to take this one."

Ron stood from the couched and walked to the window, answering the call.

"Hello… Ah, yes, i'm sorry i did… well, it's, you see…"

"Ronald, can i speak to Mrs. Possible for a minute?" Ryan suddenly appeared by his side.

"Yeah sure." Ron said automatically and gave the man his phone, while his mind tried to comprehend the situation. 'What just happened?'

"Hello. This is father of Bonnie Rockwaller speaking. My daughter felt ill in between classes and Ronald here helped her getting home. No, no, nothing serious, just a food poisoning, probably ate something wrong at school's cafeteria. Yes, i agree, we should raise this issue at the next PTA meeting, most certainly. Of course. Have a good day."

Ryan gave cellphone back to Ron. Phone call was already over.

"Thank you Mr. Rockwaller." Ron let a sigh of relief, putting device away.

"Don't mention it."

"So, i have food poisoning now?" Bonnie looked at her father in amusement.

"Yes, which means you sit home today. I, on the other hand, need to go back at work. Do you need a lift Ron?"

Realizing that he still had no idea where Bonnie's house is, so he decided to accept the offer. He waved Bonnie goodbye and sat in the car. Halfway to the work, Ryan pulled over. Ron thanked man again and left the vehicle, now being in the area he is more or less familiar with.

As he got to the Stoppable residence, he went upstairs in hopes to just get to his room, drop on the bed and doze off until the dinner. However this plans had to be delayed a bit, as red haired cheerleader met him in the hallway.

"Hey Ron, you missed the chemistry today." Kim said. "Is everything ok?"

"Don't worry. Bonnie felt sick and i help her getting home. She feels better now."

"Ah, ok. Good."

She let Ron pass to his room, and went to her own one. She remembered well what she saw today at school. Bonnie wasn't sick at all, and it seemed as she somewhat forced him to go out of school with her.
