Just a quick note from the author: Hey guys, I finally had an idea for a chapter story about Draco's and Hermione's romance! :D I also am a pretty big fan of The Greatest Showman so that's how I came up for the title for it. :) I hope you enjoy! :D
Chapter One
Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Draco had just finished their fifth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. They were now making their way back to the Hogwarts Express and there currently had been an awful lot on Harry's mind. He just narrowly escaped Voldemort again, but unfortunately Sirius Black had not, and he had just lost his only remaining true family member since he had never considered the Dursleys to be family members of his. They were just people that he had been forced to live with.
In a way Draco Malfoy had always envied him though because even though Harry hated his fame and popularity, at least he got attention and even though the Dursleys were cruel to him, at least they knew that he was around. However, this summer would be different than usual because Mrs. Weasley had invited Harry, Hermione, and Draco to stay with them. (Much to the protest of Ron who had hated Draco from day one and never really forgave him and he had just made matters worse when he had started dating Hermione.)
Ron's angry eyes followed that of Draco Malfoy's, for instead of sitting with him and Harry like she usually did on the train, she was going to sit in Draco's compartment with him and his friends instead. Hermione sat Crookshanks down and Draco sat Rebel's cage with the eagle owl inside of it and then they both sat down together, and Hermione rested her head down on top of his shoulder. He smiled at her and then wrapped an arm around her before kissing her forehead.
"What's happened to you? Why did you bring Granger with you? She's not even a pureblood or a Slytherin." Goyle pointed out as Draco shot an angry glare up at him.
"So? What's your point?
"She's my girlfriend now. Get over it and get used to it." He told him. "Besides, blood status isn't everything." He added with a roll of his eyes.
"Alright, that's it." Hermione began with a giggle. "Who are you and what have you done with Draco Malfoy?" She questioned him as he grinned back at her.
"You did it to me Granger, you changed me. Doesn't exactly mean that I'm going to start embracing everything that involves the muggle culture, but nobody can change completely overnight anyways." He told her before kissing the top of her head softly while the train started to move.
"Yeah and unfortunately, I don't think that Ron will ever change." She began before heaving a sigh.
"I could really care less about Weasley and his feelings towards me. If his mum and the rest of his family are willing to give me a second chance, then that's all that matters to me. Plus now I seem to be on Potter's good side." He told her.
"No offense or anything, but I think that the only reason that Harry's being nice to you is because he knows we're dating and since he's one of my best friends he wants me to be happy." She pointed out.
"Well then I guess that means that he and I really are two peas in a pod because that's the only reason why I'm staying over Weasley's house for the summer. That and my parents are currently going through a divorce." He told her.
"I'm sorry Draco." She told him before he kissed her head again.
"Don't be. It's been going on for a long time now and I've never had a really friendly environment. I'm just happy whenever I can have a chance to get away." He said and that's when she cuddled up closer to him and rested her head on top of his chest and closed her eyes while she listened to the sound of his heartbeat. "I love you." He whispered before kissing her head for a final time and then rested his chin down on top of her head and started drifting off to sleep himself.
….
Mrs. Weasley greeted Harry, Hermione, and Draco at the door, but Ron disappeared with his suitcase before his mother even had a chance to hug him and Hermione just simply glared at him. "That was awful rude." She said.
"It's Ron, what did you expect?" Ginny inquired while she went inside and started unpacking her suitcase.
"I'm sorry, I'll go talk to him." Harry began as he started to go after Ron when suddenly Draco spoke up.
"Hey Potter!" He cried out as Harry suddenly stopped and then turned back around to face him. "You know, I just wanted to say thanks for giving me a second chance because you really didn't have to you know." He told him with a shake of his head.
"Hermione is one of my best friends and she's like a sister to me and she means a lot to me." Harry began. "So, if you're important to her then you're important to me." He told him as Draco actually genuinely smiled at him.
"Thanks Harry." He told him as Harry slowly started smiling back at him and then went after Ron who was already upstairs.
"Are you alright?" He questioned him with uncertainty.
"What do you think!? Mum invited that bloke over and she didn't even ask me about it first to find out what I thought when I know him a lot more than she does!" He snapped before Harry took a deep breath and then sat down next to him.
"Look, I know that you're upset but Draco and Hermione are in love. If Hermione's really your friend, then you should learn to accept that. Besides, it isn't entirely Draco's fault that he is the way he is. He has a really shitty family, and nobody understands about things like that better than I do. Yet he's still trying to change." He pointed out. "Just give him a chance or you might wind up losing Hermione as a friend and I really don't think that it should be worth it." He told him before he left Ron alone with his thoughts, and then got up and left the room.
