Jamie squinted her eyes, her hand extended rigidly in front of her, a rock floating steadily in the air. Slowly she squeezed her fingers together, groaning with the effort until the rock simply dropped back unto the ground. She sighed in frustration, almost fainting as her muscles relaxed. "You doing alright, Jamie?" Dean asked, walking up behind her.
"Yeah, it's just…it's been a long time since I've had to concentrate this hard." She pulled her hair loose and brushed it out with her fingers. "It used to feel like an extension of my own body, and now…it's almost foreign." She shook her head, glancing back at her brother. "How's Sam?"
Dean glanced over his shoulder and then turned back to his sister. "He's gonna make it."
Jamie nodded. "So…what now? Back to the bunker?"
Dean nodded shoving his hands into his pockets. "Unless you have plans to take off."
She scoffed and shook her head. "As much as I want to see the kids…it's just not safe yet."
"Well it's never been safe."
"You think I should do what I did when Mark was born? Just up and disappear with them?" They walked over to the picnic table and sat down.
"Well, hell if I know." Dean said, swinging his legs over and laying down. "I just want them safe, same as you, and if you think Aaron's is the best place for them, then it is."
Jamie nodded, looking up as Sam walked over. "So what, Cas is human?" He asked, sitting down on the table beside Jamie.
Dean opened his eyes and sat up. "Ish. I mean, he's got no grace, no wings, no…harp, whatever the hell else he had."
"Halo." Jamie added. Dean gave her a look and she smirked.
"Okay." Sam said nodding to himself and then glanced back at Dean. "Where did he crash land?"
Jamie looked up. "He called Dean from a payphone in Longmont, Colorado."
Dean nodded. "Yeah. I told him just to make for the bunker."
Sam began to look worried. "Do you think he can handle a roadtrip like that?"
"Well Cas is a big boy." Sam scoffed, turning away from Dean again. "Things go breaking bad, he has our number." He glanced over to his brother. "Right now I got bigger worries."
Sam and Jamie both turned to him. "The fallen angels?" They asked together.
Dean smirked. "Yup. I mean, thanks to Metatron we now have a couple confused, loose nukes walking around down here." He looked out unto the park again. Jamie frowned. Sam chuckled sarcastically.
"What do you think they're gonna do?"
Dean cast a sideways glance at Sam that he didn't see. "I got no damn clue."
"Nothing good. I know that." Jamie moved closer to her brothers.
"Yeah, that's the next problem." Sam looked at Dean and then at Jamie. "Jamie doesn't have her powers anymore." Dean explained.
Sam frowned in concern and looked over at his sister. Jamie shrugged. "I still have telekinesis, it's just weak. And if I focus hard enough, I can get visions, they just…"
"Give you a headache." Sam finished, nodding. "Great. What about demons, are you getting the evil is near headaches again?" He smirked a little and Jamie chuckled.
"Yeah, actually. I was hoping it was just Crowley, but I think I'm back to post-Dad's death level."
"Crowley?" Sam asked with a slight frown. "What about Crowley?" He looked at Dean. "You uh…" He clicked his tongue and made a throat-slitting gesture with his finger.
Dean frowned with amusement, swinging his legs over the table so that he was sitting closer to Sam. "I would have loved nothing better than to ice that limely bitch. But then I thought to myself what would Sam Winchester do?"
Sam glanced at Jamie, giving her an 'Is he serious?' look. She closed her eyes, chuckling softly. Sam looked back at Dean, amused. "I'd have…stabbed him in the brain."
Dean's face fell. "Oh." He got fidgety. "Well I figured the king of Hell might know a few things. So, why not Zero Dark Thirty his ass?"
Sam's eyes went wide and he gave Dean a look. Dean grinned. Jamie shook his head. "Come on, man." She got up and so did Dean. Sam got up immediately, following his siblings over to the car.
"Wait. So Crowley is alive?" He asked in a bit of disbelief.
Dean started unlocking the trunk. "Oh yeah." He lifted the trunk, revealing Crowley tied up with his mouth ducktaped. There's a devil's trap painted on the inside of the trunk hatch."He's the junk in my trunk."
Jamie started rubbing her eyes. "Yup, total migraine. This already sucks." Sam chuckled, looking back at her and then to Dean.
Dean and Jamie enter the bunker. An arrow comes flying in their general direction, Jamie starts to put her hand up but the arrow gets stuck in the handrail a few feet in front of them. Dean and Jamie look at each other. "The hell?" Dean mutters, looking over at his sister. Jamie shrugs slightly.
Kevin stands up from behind his barricade of books and a flipped-over table, holding a crossbow. "Dean? Jamie? You're alive!" He's clearly surprised by their presence.
Jamie pulls the arrow out of the wall and looks at it. Dean scoffs, coming down the stairs. "Yeah, 'cause you're a crappy shot, Katniss."
Jamie nods. "Yeah, what the hell do you think you're doing?"
Kevin shakes his head, walking over to meet them. "Sorry. It's been a bad couple of days. I-I haven't slept, or eaten, I'm pretty backed up." He whines softly, paranoid and scared.
Jamie raises and eyebrow. Dean gives the prophet a look. "Okay, overshare." Jamie throws the arrow unto the table.
"After we talked, this place went nuts, alright? Th-there was some alarm, and all the machines were freaking out, and the bunker just locked down. I couldn't open the door, my cellphone stopped working, I thought the world was ending." Kevin still sounds like he's panicking.
Jamie shrugs and looks at Dean. "Close." He signs, completely serious. "The angels fell."
"The... what does that mean?"
"Nothing good." Dean says quickly, taking the crossbow from Kevin. "Listen, next time the world's ending, grab a gun." He glares at him, walking past and taking out his cellphone.
Jamie puts a hand on Kevin's shoulder. "Pr better yet, practice your aim, kid." She tells him, and then ruffles his hand. "Breath, okay." She puts her other hand on his other shoulder, peering past him to Dean.
"I got service." Dean says plainly.
Jamie lets go of Kevin who walks over and flips a switch on the bunker's control panel. Lights turn on and there's a sound of mechanics whirring into action. "It's back online. Maybe when you opened the door from the outside door, it reset the system."
"Yeah, okay, let's go with that." Jamie glances at Dean and then up towards the stairs at the sound of the door opening. Sam enters with Crowley, whose handcuffed, blindfolded and with earmuffs on.
"Hey. All good?" Sam asks, peering down at them.
Jamie gestures towards her twin. "Yeah, come on." She walks away, Dean follows after her. Sam turns Crowley and pulls him down the stairs.
"No." Kevin whisphers behind them. Jamie glances at Dean and then to Sam as they drag him down the corridor. She leads the way to the torture chamber, kicking the door open and then turning the lights on.
They chain the king of hell to a chair in the center of a Devil's Trap. Dean pulls off his hood and tears the duct tape off his mouth. "Ahh! Hello." He exclaims, eyeing each Winchester in turn.
Dean punches him in the face. "Never get tired of doing that." He throws the hood unto the table and steps back to his place between Sam and Jamie.
Crowley grunts and looks at the wall full of torture implements. "Homey. Where did you get this fantastic little treehouse?"
Jamie frowns and then smirks. "I guess you could say we inherited it."
Sam takes a step forward, holding a pen and a notepad. "Alright, here's how it's gonna go. You're giving us the name of every demon on earth, and the people they're possessing."
Crowley turns to Sam, a smartass look on his features. "Am I? Doesn't sound like me." Jamie punches him the jaw. "Ahh! Bitch!"
Sam looks amused. "I saw you break down, Crowley. When I was trying to cure you, I know a part of you was human again, maybe still is."
Crowley shakes his head. "Blah blah, boohoo. Done? Good. 'Cause this is what I know. I'm not giving you anything. Why would I? You have no leverage, darlings." Dean shifts uncomfortably. Jamie crosses her arms. Sam doesn't take his eyes off Crowley. "You're not gonna close the gates of Hell, because you didn't, you're not gonna kill me, because you haven't. So what's left?"
Jamie smirks a little. "We have a few ideas." Dean claps his sister on the shoulder.
Crowley's turn to look amused. "Torture. Brilliant. Can't wait to see Sam in stilettos and a leather bustier, really putting the S-A-M into S&M." Dean and Jamie both give Sam a look but he doesn't return it, instead he's looks on, amused. "Honestly, boys. What are you gonna do to me that I don't do to myself just for kicks every Friday night?"
This time Sam does look at his siblings. Jamie breaks their gaze first, turning and walking out. Dean and Sam follow her at the same time. They lock the dungeon's doors behind them. "Have fun." Dean calls from the door. They turn off the lights, leaving Crowley alone in the dark.
Back in the control room, Kevin is freaking out. "What's Crowley doing here?! Why isn't he dead? Why aren't you stabbing him right now?!" He yells in Dean's face, gesturing wildly with his hands.
Dean shakes his head, waving Kevin out as he, Sam, and Jamie walk into the room. "Alright, alright, chill out, Kevin, okay? We need him."
Kevin is visibly upset by this. "What?!" he yells.
Sam turns to him, trying to make the young prophet understand. "Kevin, look. If we can get Crowley to give us the name of every demon he's got topside-"
Jamie cuts Sam off, looking between her brother and the prophet. "Then we can hunt them down. All of 'em. Rid the Earth of all demons, save a lot of people."
"He will break, okay." Dean reassures him. "When he does, we'll hold him down while you knife him. Then we all go out for ice cream and strippers." He says the last part with an amused smile on his face.
Jamie rolls her eyes. "Dean…"
"Male strippers for Jamie." He backtracks. Jamie scoffs.
Sam gives his siblings a look. "Just stay away from him, alright?" he tells Kevin.
Kevin shakes his head, obviously unhappy with his options. "So now what?"
Dean looks around. "I gotta make some phone calls." He turns back to Kevin. "You need to hit the Angel tablet, see if you can find anything on the spell that Metatron used to empty out Heaven." He points upward to emphasis.
Sam nods. "Yeah, maybe we can reverse it before the God Squad does too much damage."
"Yeah, if we're lucky." Dean agrees.
"Well, I'm going to go take a nice long shower and then hit the target range." Jamie walks past her brothers. Kevin gives Dean a confused look which he ignores, turning instead to Sam.
"Alright, check the net for anything angely."
"Or demony." Sam adds.
"Or monstery." Jamie calls from down the hall.
Dean nods. "Or ghosty, or..." he sighs. "It's gonna be a busy year." He looks down at his cellphone.
Jamie stands in front of the steamed up mirror running a towel through her hair. As she pulled it back, long dark locks fell out and she brushed them out staring into the mirror at her appearance.
She walks into the study where Kevin and Sam were doing research and Dean was finishing a phone conversation. "Was that Irv?" She asked.
"Yeah he-woah." Dean turned to look at her, stopping short to take in her appearance. "What did you do to your hair?"
"What? It's a new year." She remarked, walking over to Sam. "You find anything?"
Sam looks up as a new call comes up on the scanner.
Later, after Dean and Sam have gone to check out the incident, Jamie and Kevin are sitting the library. Kevin has his computer open and is doing research on the tablet. Jamie has a file open and is reading through it. "So…you're not a prophet anymore?"
"No." She says shortly, still reading.
"Well um…so then how-"
"You're a prophet, I am the prophet. You are the heir to a line of those born to read the word of God. I don't read it, I speak it. With Heaven closed, there's nothing for me to speak."
Kevin's phone rings and he answers it. "Hey." Jamie closes the file and looks towards him. "Boss"? He says after a moment. "Wait, w-what?" Jamie gets up and walks over to him. "Uh... Kevin. Solo."
Jamie gestures for the phone. "Give me the phone, Kev."
Kevin waves Jamie off. "Old enough. And I'm with the FBI, so you have to do what I say, or..."He pulls his laptop towards him and starts typing.
"Kevin…" The youngest Winchester says, a little lower.
"Cabo, last June." Kevin finally says. Jamie looks confused. Kevin shows her the laptop. Jamie raises an eyebrow. "That's my reason. My favourite is you in a sombrero doing a body shot off some naked guy in a Luchador mask. Super classy." Jamie looks impressed. "Cause I'm Kevin freaking Solo. So unless you want this forwarded to your commanding officer, Major Velasquez...I suggest you give my guys anything they want. Understand?"\
"Well done, prophet." Jamie pats Kevin's shoulder, walking back to her chair.
"Yes, sir."
Kevin throws the phone to Jamie. "Jamie? What the hell did Kevin just do?" Dean asks.
"He's freakin brilliant." Jamie tells her brother. "All military computers are linked to the same network. He hacked it." She passes the phone back to Kevin.
"Hey Kevin? Good job, buddy."
Later that night Kevin and Jamie are still doing research. A cellphone (in a box full of them) starts ringing. Kevin starts to reach for it, but Jamie grabs it instead. "Hello?"
"This is Dean's number, but you're not Dean. Hello Jamie."
Jamie's eyes widen at the voice. Fire and hatred creep over her face. "Abaddon…"
"I need you to give your brothers a message for me." Jamie closes her eyes, a glimmer of a vision coming. She sees Abaddon walk over to two hunters, both tied up and gagged. "I have something they might want." The knight of Hell says as the vision ends.
Jamie stares at the coordinates Abaddon has given her. Kevin frowns, looking at the phone, the paper, and then Jamie. "I don't understand…What's going on? Who is she?"
"I have to go." She says, getting up. "Call Sam and Dean, give them those coordinates, and tell them exactly what I've told you. I'll heading out, and I'll meet them there." She heads in the direction of her room.
When Dean and Sam reach the coordinates they look over an abandoned ghost town. The buildings are in ruin, and there are plants growing haphazardly around them. The ground is littered with broken glass. Dean looks around with critical eyes. "The hell happened here?"
Sam looks unimpressed. "Local chemical plant sprung a leak, years ago. They evacuated three square blocks."
Jamie walks out from one of the side streets. She's wearing her black canvas jacket and carrying a backpack, looking grim and unsettled. "My guess it's still contaminated." Sam greets her with a nod as she stops in front of them.
Dean raises an eyebrow, looking from his sister to his brother. "Wait, so this whole place is poison?"
Sam nods. "Yeah." He gives Dean an uncomfortable look, putting his hands on his hips.
Dean's hand slowly moves down his leg unto it stops just over his groin, hovering protectively. Jamie sucks her breath in sharply, turning so that her back is to her brothers as she pulls her handgun out of her jeans and holds it to the ground. Sam casts a sideways glance to his older brother and then looks straight ahead. "That's not gonna help."
"Doesn't hurt." Dean replies as casually as possible as Sam heads into the town. He and Jamie follow.
"This is a death trap." Jamie remarks a few minutes later, as the three siblings carefully make their way down the street.
"This is a trap." Dean retorts, gripping his weapons bag.
As they pass the diner there is a rumble from inside. Jamie brings her gun up and Sam quickly pulls his out, pointing at the entrance. Sam goes first with Jamie flanking him. "Dean." They say at the same time, finding Irv and Tracy tied up. Dean rushes into the diner, going over to them. Jamie glances between her brothers as Dean removes the gag from Irv's mouth. Sam shuts the door, turning back at the group.
"Irv? Hey. Where's Abaddon?" Dean asks.
Irv gasps for breath, he has blood all over his face. "Abaddon's been torturing hunters. She's trying to get intel on you three." His gaze travels from Sam, to Jamie, to Dean and back again.
"Do you know why?" Sam asks.
"I seriously doubt she wants to add you to her Christmas card list." The old hunter retorts.
Jamie takes a step back. The faces of her friends flash through her mind and she stumbles back into the table on the other side of the diner.
"Jamie!" Dean moves quickly to her side.
"Oh god." She says gasping for breath. "Aaron and Robin."
Dean's eyes widen and he glances back to Sam. Sam's face clouds with worry. Dean immediately pulls his sister to her feet. "Jamie, go. Now!" He shoves her towards the door.
Jamie rushes out of the diner, and doesn't slow down. She speeds her way to North Dakota. To the haven where she has left her children. When she reaches the home of her friends hours later she finds the house dark and quiet. Too quiet. The hair on the back of her neck stands on end as she parks the car and gets out, popping the trunk. She grabs a shotgun, extra salt rounds, and a bottle of holy water before walking towards the house.
"Oh god please let me not be too late." She whispers, before kicking open the door and walking inside. There are signs of a struggle, claw marks on the floor, a broken vase. The seasoned hunter rolls sapphire eyes over every square inch. Sulfur penetrates her nostrils as she quietly climbs the stairs.
Three demons meet her at the top. Their vessels are young Native American men in jeans and leather jackets. Jamie doesn't hestitate, doesn't flinch, and doesn't ask questions before pulling the trigger on her shotgun and sending the middle crashing through the window.
The two others pounce towards her. One she blows back against the wall with her telekinesis, but the third grabs her and they fall down the stairs. She struggles with him for a few tense moments and then the bottle of holy water is knocked unto the floor, where it spills. The psychic seizes the opportunity and sends the water spraying into the demon's mouth. He hisses in pain, falling back and grabbing his throat. She shoots him with her shotgun and then goes back up the stairs, shooting the demon she blew into the wall on the way.
"Where are my kids?" She asks, blowing open the door at the end of the hallway. Two demons, wearing Aaron and Robin as their vessels turn to her. "Where are my kids?" She demands, raising the shotgun.
"Can you really kill us?" The demon in Aaron's body taunts. Jamie doesn't hesitate, she shoots the demon in the head with her shotgun, it crumbles to the ground, flashing and then dies.
"Angel round bullets. You're next." She raises the shotgun towards Robin's body, and the demon immediately vacates. Robin falls to the ground.
"Mommy!" Jamie's head shoots up at Mark's cry.
"Mark?" She asks, rushing towards the closet. She blows the door open to find her son and daughter tied up in the closet, along with Aaron and Robin's girls. She quickly frees the girls, who rush to their mother.
Robin coughs and sits up before wrapping her arms tightly around her daughters. "Jamie?"
Jamie frees Mark and Emmy, pulling them into her arms. "I'm sorry about Aaron." She says after a moment, glancing over her shoulder. Robin's eyes fall on the body of her husband. Tears streak down her face. She doesn't say anything.
"Hey! We're back!" Jamie walked into the bunker carrying Emmy on her hip. She had a diaper bag slung over her shoulder instead of the backpack of weapons she had carried earlier and was holding Mark's hand. She looks tired and a little breathless, and her hair curled wildly around her face, but her eyes were genuinely happy. Emmy was dressed in a pair of pink and black pajamas with kitties on them and wrapped her soft purple blanket that she clutched tightly in one fist. Her eyes were closed, obviously sleeping soundly against her chest. Mark, on the other hand, was almost bursting with energy. He shifted from one foot to the other, causing contents in the backpack over his shoulders to collide, and the amulet around his neck to bounce against his chest.
"Hey!" Dean called from the study, walking quickly into the room. "Mark, hey son." He immediately squatted down, a broad grin on his face at the sight of his son. Mark wasted no time in running over to his father, who caught him in his arms and pulled him into a tight hug.
"Daddy! I missed you." Mark told him as Dean picked him up.
"Yeah I missed you too, buddy. Emmy, how's my baby girl?" Dean crossed the few remaining feet to where Jamie stood with their daughter. He kissed the sleeping baby's forehead lightly and then bent forward slightly to greet his sister. "What happened?" He hisses.
"Aaron is dead. They possessed him and Robin. They had the kids tied up in the closet."
"Is Robin okay? And their girls?"
"As okay as they'll ever be. I shot her husband in front of her. AJ's brother." Jamie pressed her forehead into her brother's chest. "I didn't even hesitate." Dean rubs her back, holding her tightly against him.
Sam is sitting at the table, doing research in the library when Dean and Jamie enter. "Finally got the kids to sleep." Jamie comments offhandly as she takes a seat beside her twin.
"Kevin's passed out in one of the back rooms. He's a tough kid. He'll bounce back." Dean echos as he pours three drinks. He glances over his shoulder at Sam, whose still sitting quietly. "What's up with you?"
Sam finally looks up. "Nothing. It's just... what Tracy said about me, she wasn't wrong." He says quietly. Jamie frowns, glancing at Dean as he puts the glasses down on the table and sits down across from his siblings.
Dean looks at his little brother seriously. "Sam, listen to me. You have helped a hell of a lot more people than you have hurt." Jamie nods in agreement, grabbing her glass. Sam picks up the glass nearest to him. Dean raises his own glass. "So all of that... that was then. Okay?"
"Here's to now." Jamie says softly. They clink glasses.
Sam takes a drink and then glances at his siblings. "So, you ready for it?"
"What, the fallen angels?" Jamie asks leaning back in her chair. "Abaddon?" She brushes her hair back from her face.
"And Cas, losing his halo, Crowley in our basement?" Sam can't help but smirk at his final comment.
"Crap. We're living in a freaking sitcom." Dean shoots back, but is then quiet for a moment, thinking to himself. "What about you, how's the uh, the engine running?" He looks curiously at his brother, waiting for an answer.
Sam takes another drink, glancing down at his research and then up at Dean. "Honestly, um, I feel better than I have in a long time. I mean, I realise it's crazy out there, and we have trouble coming for us, but I look around and I see friends, and family." He gestures to Dean and Jamie and then to the doorway. "I am happy with my life, for the first time in... forever." Jamie knocks back the rest of her drink, pulling her foot up unto the chair as she smiles at Sam. "I-I am, I really am. It's just, things are... things are good." Sam smiles.
"Never better." Dean puts on a fake smile.
Jamie tilts her head back, giving him a look before down the hall Emmy starts crying. "I've got her." The youngest Winchester quickly gets up and heads down the hall. Sam smiles, turning around in his chair to watch her leave, and then turning back to his research once she's gone. Dean's smile falters once Sam's attention is elsewhere, and he knocks back the remainder of his drink in one gulp.
