This is a one shot that occurs during the Final Battle at Hogwarts.

Running past the spells that were blazing past her from all around, Hermione struggled to avoid them. Her entire body ached, but she knew she had to keep moving. All she could smell was the burning ash that wafted the air. It was like everyone around her was moving in slow motion. Everything seemed mute and for a second, she thought her eardrums had burst.

Just minutes earlier, she was surrounded by her friends and family. Students and professors stood side by side, creating a wall with their bodies. Voldemort and his death eaters were standing in a half-circle across from them.

That was until her best friend, Harry Potter, had restarted the battle after revealing that he was still alive.

Striding up a staircase, she caught a glimpse of silvery-white hair from the corner of her eye. Curious, she followed who she thought she might have seen.

It couldn't be him. Could it? She thought

Hermione swore she saw Draco being ushered away from danger by his mother and father, just after the battle had resumed. She couldn't forget watching him walking away. She couldn't forget it because it had broken her heart.

She turned her head further to the right and saw the back of his disheveled but beautiful and infamous platinum hair. Even at this angle, she didn't understand how someone could look heavenly in the middle of such a scene. For heaven's sake, they were in the middle of a battle!

He was in the middle of dueling one of the Carrows.

Ducking past a stream of red light that had been aimed at her, Hermione finished off the wizard who dared provoke her. She whipped her head around and was about to continue fighting when a pair of large chocolate brown eyes locked with mystifying silver ones.

All of a sudden, she was blinded by an intense beam of sunlight. She took in her surroundings and felt a wave of untroubled feelings crash over her. Instantly she knew where she was. These sort of moments were ones you could only dream about, except not her. She had lived them with the man she was destined to be with.

She was under a grand tree and was partly shielded with the shade it had provided. The sweet smell of the lush grass embraced her. Hermione's head was laid on a chest that was slowly rising and falling. She looked up, and the view that she was greeted with made her beam. Draco's face looked as relaxed as ever, and so she pecked his cheek as softly as possible to not disturb him. With his eyes still shut, the corner of his mouth slowly began to turn up. He quickly wrapped Hermione in his arms, kissed her on her forehead, and whispered, "You woke me up."

Rolling her eyes, she wriggled out of his grip and lunged at him. He toppled over and fell on his back, though it was not a hard fall since he was already sitting down. Sitting beside him as he lay on the soft grass, she began smothering him with kisses all over his face. Draco then tackled her, so she was lying on the ground as well, and began tickling her. The happy scene began to slowly disappear from sight as Hermione was brought back to reality. The only thing left was the haunting sounds of their joyous laughter.

Draco's eyes finally fell back into vision. "I'll see you soon," he said in the same soft whisper Hermione had just heard from in memory.

With a sad smile, he left.

She watched him depart from her life once more. This time, she had hope that he would return to her and never leave her side again.
