"I gotta say, I was half expecting you guys to not show up," Naruto revealed, as he sat down on the living room couch with Sasuke and Itoshi. "Even if I wasn't the most intent on coming, I told you that we would be here" Sasuke explained to his blonde teammate. "You got me there, but anyway tell me all about you and Sakura! I wanna hear how you two met" Naruto exclaimed, while picking Itoshi up and setting him on his lap.
"Tch, why would you want to know that?" Sasuke retorted, not expecting such a question. "Because that's what friends do! Unless you would rather just sit here in silence until the girls come back" Naruto jokingly threatened, as he crossed his arms over his chest. Sasuke sighed deeply before saying "Alright fine I'll tell you, just stop pouting like a child".
So Sasuke gave Naruto the short version of his and Sakura's story, ignoring all of the "oo's" and "awe's" he kept uttering. By the end of the story, Naruto couldn't stop saying how whipped Sasuke was for his two girls. "I am not whipped you idiot, I just love them" Sasuke scoffed, wanting his wife to come back to the living room as quickly as possible.
His wish was granted whenever he heard the door to the porch slid open, and the chatter of the two women. "Naruto you better have not been giving him a hard time" Ino chided, as she began setting the table for lunch. Sakura took a seat next to her husband with Sakiko in her lap, before Naruto answered, "Not at all, I'll help you in the kitchen" as he got up and left Itoshi with the three Uchihas on the couch.
"Itoshi, would you like to hold Sakiko?" Sakura asked sweetly, wanting him to feel included. The little boy's cheeks turned slightly red before timidly nodding his head. So Sakura kneeled in front of him and then sat Sakiko on his lap, up against his small chest. Sakiko squirmed around for a moment before looking up at Itoshi in wonder, she then reached out her small, chubby hand and touched his face. This caused Itoshi to startle a bit which made Sakiko break into a giggle fit, and Itoshi followed suit and squealed at the baby's laughs.
"Look at that Itoshi, she likes you!" Sakura said excitedly, while snapping a few pictures of them on her phone. After a few more minutes of giggles, Itoshi looked to Sakura and said "Play?" with a hopeful smile. "She would love to play with you but she can only play with certain toys at her age, so how about you two play with those blocks?" Sakura suggested, while pointing to the tub of blocks next to a playmat.
Itoshi happily agreed, so Sakura took Sakiko from him and sat her down in the middle of the mat and Itoshi sat down next to her. He then started getting out the blocks and telling her all about them, even though it was mostly just babbles and the occasional word. "I'm glad he's so gentle with her, you never know with toddlers," Sakura stated, as she sat down next to Sasuke. "Me too,
considering who his dad is," Sasuke said, loud enough for Naruto to hear in the kitchen. And Naruto promptly yelled back, "I heard that you jerk!" in an irritated tone.
The couple laughed to themselves before Sakura asked, "Are you having a good time?" to her husband, while brushing the stray hairs out of his eyes. "Ah, it's not as bad as I was expecting it to be" he admitted, while turning his head to kiss the palm of her hand. This caused a slight blush to spread on his wife's cheeks, before she said "I'm glad it's not, I think Sakiko is having a good time too" with a smile. "She is, I feel bad for those blocks though" Sasuke said, while watching his daughter chunk a block across the playmat, before he continued, "Are you having a good time?" wanting to make sure she was too. "I am! Ino and I have a lot in common, and I got to hear all about how she and Naruto met at a ramen shop in college" she told him with a laugh.
Sasuke was about to reply whenever Ino called from the kitchen, "Lunch is ready!" while setting the dishes on the table. So Sasuke told Sakura to go ahead and that he would get Sakiko and bring her to the kitchen. But when he went to pick her up, Itoshi started whining and tried to push him away from her. "We're having lunch now, you can play together some more afterwards" Sasuke reassured him, realizing that Itoshi thought they were leaving.
Happy with the answer Sasuke gave him, Itoshi held onto Sasuke's hand on the way to the kitchen. Once there Sasuke sat down with Sakiko in his lap since there was no highchair, and Itoshi made sure to sit next to them both. "Looks like you made a new friend, doesn't it Itoshi?" Ino warmly asked her son, when they started eating. Itoshi giggled at his Mama's words, and patted Sakiko's head gently while nodding up and down.
Lunch went by nicely and afterwards the couples talked over tea, while Itoshi and Sakiko played some more. But Sakiko was beginning to get fussy, signaling to her parents that she was tired and needed a nap. "I guess that's our signal to head home," Sakura said while picking her daughter up and letting her get comfortable on her chest. "It's getting to be his naptime too, so I guess we should stop here" Naruto said, while standing up and stretching.
So they all bid each other goodbye, Sakura and Ino exchanged numbers so they could hang out together again. While Naruto and Sasuke just gave each other a fist bump, knowing they would both be at practice tomorrow anyway.
The ride home was quiet for the pair, due to their sleeping baby girl in the back seat. When they arrived home, Sakura gently placed Sakiko in her crib and was careful not to wake her up. After leaving the nursery, Sakura found her husband laying on the couch with an arm thrown over his eyes. Smiling to herself, she went over and laid down next to him and cuddled into his side. "Have you reached your social interaction limit for the day?" she said in a teasing tone, while
nuzzling her face into his chest. "More like for the month" Sasuke grumbled, as he wrapped his arms around her middle and kissed the top of her head.
They stayed like that for a while before Sasuke murmured, "It's not that I don't like them, it's just being around anyone besides you and Sakiko is exhausting" he explained to her. "What about Itachi?" she asked, knowing he'd think it was annoying. "Hn, I guess he can be added to the list" he mused, thinking about all his brother has done for him.
"I think so too, but we should try to sleep some before she wakes up," Sakura suggested, while grabbing a blanket and pulling it over them. "Thank you Sakura" Sasuke whispered, as his wife drifted off to sleep in his arms. He admired her for a few moments longer before finally falling asleep as well.
