In this chapter, history is going to repeat itself. But not quite in the same way as before.
It looks like Kevin and Matilda will be going to New York.
Have any of you ever gone there? Or do you live there?
I live in the suburbs personally.
And on another personal note, I enjoy Home Alone 2 as much as I enjoy the first.
Chapter 2: Deja Vu
As soon as they woke up, Kate and Peter realized history had repeated itself.
They really needed to get a power surge protector.
As before, there was a scramble to get ready.
Fortunately, Kevin boarded the airplane car this time.
And he also knew how to pack his own suitcase this time around.
Linnie applauded him for that one.
"I'm here, everybody!" exclaimed the boy.
"Whew!" said Kate in relief.
It looked like Kevin was going with them this time.
If he got left home alone again, who knew what would happen?
Afterwards, they all ran towards the Florida flight.
Unfortunately, in their haste, Kevin got his bag mixed up with his uncle's.
It was heavier than he expected, so he tripped.
As such, he lost track of his family.
"Can you help me? My family's waiting for me on the Florida flight and I need to hurry!" exclaimed Kevin.
"Sure. They should be that way." answered the stewardess, pointing in a specific direction.
Unfortunately, the stewardess had accidentally sent Kevin on a different flight. She was new to the job and didn't know every plane's destination.
Meanwhile, Matilda went into the car with Miss Honey.
Thankfully, there wasn't a power outage at their house.
Unfortunately, at the airport, Matilda bumped into her father.
He was in Chicago to get a T-shirt for Michael.
Harry thought it would be a good gift for him.
If only Matilda had been like his son.
"Watch where you're going!" exclaimed Harry.
"Dad?" asked Matilda.
Mr. Wormwood was surprised, but he regained his composure.
"Oh hey, Matilda. It's such a shame you decided to live with Miss Honey. I could use your intellect to come up with more ways to make money." remarked Harry.
At first, he was jealous of Matilda, but now he figured he could use her intellect to his advantage.
However, his daughter had no intention of helping him.
"And help you cheat people out of their money? Think again!" exclaimed Matilda.
"Hmph. You have fun with that elementary school teacher." noted Harry.
Unfortunately for them, the two had gotten their bags mixed up.
Matilda didn't want to spend any more time with her father than necessary, so she had made a mistake.
So had her father, though personally he thought he was perfect.
Unfortunately, Matilda had lost track of Miss Honey.
She followed Kevin instead, as she assumed he was heading towards the flight to Florida as Miss Honey was.
In reality, he was heading towards New York.
Meanwhile...
For some strange reason, Miss Honey got the feeling that Matilda wasn't on the flight with her.
She wasn't sure why.
Kate wondered if Kevin wasn't on the flight as well.
"What's wrong?" asked Peter.
"I think Kevin might not be on the plane." explained Kate.
"He made it to the airport, didn't he?" questioned her husband.
"True..." nodded the woman.
Perhaps this time, their vacation would go according to plan.
One flight later...
As soon as the airplane landed, Matilda realized something was wrong.
Kevin noticed her as the two left the plane.
"Hey, Matilda. You and Miss Honey have fun in Florida. I'll be spending my vacation...with my family." sighed Kevin.
"Um, Kevin, I don't think we're in Florida." explained Matilda.
Kevin looked out the window.
He could tell that Matilda was right.
Just what country had he ended up in?
He sure hoped that he could understand the local language.
"Whoops! It looks like we went on the wrong flight." noted the boy.
Perhaps his wish had come true.
He was going to get to go on a vacation...without his family.
Though if it was anything like last time, his family would find him soon.
Might as well enjoy it while it lasts.
"We should find out where we are." acknowledged the girl genius.
"Looks like we're in a large city." spoke the boy.
"I think I know where we are. Look!" exclaimed the girl.
Matilda pointed to the Statue of Liberty.
"We're in New York?" asked Kevin.
"Looks that way." answered the girl. What other city had a statue like that?
She could also make out the Empire State Building.
She hoped that Miss Honey would be able to find her.
She was hoping to spend Christmas with her.
But perhaps their vacation together was going to have to wait.
Meanwhile...
After they made it to Florida, the McAllister family made a shocking discovery.
It seemed Kevin was not with them...again.
"Aaaahhh!" exclaimed Kate.
It was bad enough that this had happened once...but now twice?
"Well, at least I won't have to worry about him entering my room." noted Buzz.
"But we don't know where he is!" exclaimed Megan.
"He could be in the North Pole for all we know." noted Tracy.
Was he looking for Santa? Perhaps Kevin felt that he wasn't getting decent enough presents.
The Donald Duck slippers were kind of silly. He did like Disney movies though.
Miss Honey discovered Matilda wasn't at the Florida airport as well.
"Where is she?" asked the woman.
Did she board the wrong flight? She supposed it was possible. Even a girl as smart as Matilda was made mistakes.
If so, she might not have enough money to make it back to Chicago.
It would be best if she found out where her daughter went.
"That little twerp has my bag!" exclaimed Uncle Frank, realizing the mixup.
And he also had his reading glasses.
"Frank!" shouted Peter.
"Sorry." apologized the uncle.
Perhaps Old Man Marley had given him good advice.
At Harry Wormwood's house, Harry let out a scream.
He had gotten his bag mixed up with Matilda's.
How could he have been so careless?
Luckily, he had kept his personal key to Duncan's toy chest in his pocket.
Well, he might as well start looking for her.
But where on Earth could she possibly be?
At New York City...
Since they were in the city, they might as well find a place to call shelter.
They would want to stay in one spot, so that it would be easier for Miss Honey and Kevin's parents to find them.
"I think we should look for shelter." suggested Matilda.
Kevin seemed interested in exploring, however.
"Can we check out the city? This is really exciting." remarked Kevin.
Personally he thought it was a lot better than going to Florida.
"Alright, but I still think we should find shelter." noted Matilda.
If they got separated, it would be hard for them to reunite.
It wasn't like the suburbs. They were in one of the biggest cities in the world.
Kevin nodded.
At Central Park, the two encountered a lady with some pigeons.
Seemed that she was homeless. But she didn't seem to be lonely with her avian companions.
"That lady creeps me out." remarked Kevin.
He had never seen so many pigeons on one person.
"Well, there doesn't seem to be any rumors floating around her being evil." noted Matilda. Nobody seemed to be looking at her with fear.
"Yeah, but she's still creepy." answered the boy.
Fortunately, it didn't take long for them to find shelter.
They could see a big hotel nearby.
It was the Plaza Hotel.
However, they realized that they had gotten their bags mixed up with their relatives not long after they got to the hotel.
"Whoops." remarked Kevin.
"Well, I don't exactly mind using my dad's credit card. There's likely dirty money on it, anyway." noted Matilda.
"I don't really mind using my uncle's credit card either." answered Kevin.
He came up with a story as to why the two were checking into the Plaza Hotel alone.
"Can we check in? My dad's on a business trip, and he gave me his credit card. He's at a meeting so he doesn't want me to bother him. He thinks I'll only get into mischief." explained Kevin.
"Will he be back soon?" asked the woman.
"I would imagine so." nodded the boy.
"Who is this?" asked the receptionist, looking at Matilda.
"My...sister?" questioned Kevin.
Matilda was tempted not to laugh.
"Alright. Your room is on the fourth floor." explained the receptionist.
Lucky for them, it seemed that they had hit the jackpot.
There were two beds for each of them.
Additionally, there was also a TV.
Fortunately, they could both usually agree on what show to watch.
And there was a small refrigerator.
Still, Matilda hoped that Miss Honey would find her soon.
Unfortunately, she imagined it would be too expensive to make a hotel call from New York City to Florida.
And her own phone was currently with her father.
She could only hope for the best.
In Uncle Frank's bag was the movie Angels with Filthier Souls.
"Huh. I didn't know that Angels with Filthy Souls had a sequel." noted the boy.
"Careful, Kevin. Chances are this sequel is just as violent as the first." warned Matilda.
"I figured as much. But still, don't you enjoy how hammy Johnny is?" asked Kevin.
"Yeah, I do." nodded the girl.
This time, it seemed that a woman was being unfaithful to Johnny.
Her name was Carlotta, and she had been smooching with everybody. Seemed she didn't have a hard time picking up guys.
It also seemed that she didn't know what happened to people that made Johnny angry.
Much like he did in the first movie, Johnny opened fire on the lady.
The two shielded their eyes as Carlotta met the same fate as Snakes from the first movie.
Sarcastically, Johnny then wished Carlotta a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. The latter of which she wouldn't be around for.
Matilda used her powers to turn off the TV so that they didn't spend the rest of their vacation hiding underneath their beds.
"I guess Johnny doesn't discriminate between sexes." noted Kevin.
"He's just as off his rocker as ever." agreed Matilda.
Kevin thought the movie would be useful later, since the first movie had come in handy.
So he would keep ahold of it.
After watching the movie (until they had decided it was too scary for them to watch it any further), the two ordered cheese pizza.
Though Matilda missed Miss Honey, she did admit she was having a good time.
Suddenly, she remembered something.
It was kind of important.
"Um, Kevin, I'd hate to be the bearer of bad news, and I'd really hate to spoil your vacation, but the Wet Bandits broke out of prison." explained Matilda.
"They did? To think we went to all that effort to protect our house from them." noted Kevin.
"I know." answered the girl.
"Well, I think we'll be fine." assured the boy.
"What makes you say that?" asked Matilda.
"We're in New York. How can they get from Chicago to New York without getting busted?" questioned Kevin.
"Well, I doubt that they would be able to use the airport." noted the girl. They were police officers there.
"I say we just relax and enjoy ourselves." answered Kevin.
Meanwhile...
Unfortunately for Kevin, he had tempted fate and was now going to pay the price for it.
Harry and Marv stepped out from the back of a fish truck, after making sure the driver had already left.
"Man, who would have thought that fish truck would take us all the way to New York City?" asked Marv.
The two had stowed away in a fish truck to throw the cops off their trail.
They were simply hoping to get away from Chicago (since that was where the police would concentrate their search), but they were excited to be in such a big city.
There were so many things they could steal.
But just in case, Harry decided that they would lay low so as to not draw attention.
He figured they should focus on getting tickets to a foreign country.
That way the police would never be able to find them.
"Maybe we should start calling ourselves the Fishy Bandits!" exclaimed Marv.
"If you plan on leaving fish whenever we decide to rob a place, then clearly you've learned nothing." noted Harry.
"I got us out of prison, didn't I?" asked the taller of the two.
"Yes, but you also could have gotten the stuffing beaten out of us." answered the shorter of the bandits.
It was fortunate that the prisoners didn't know that they were responsible for the flooded bathroom.
For now, they decided to head to the park where they would decide where to steal from.
There were so many possibilities, so it was hard to pick one.
But they would decide, eventually.
I figured I would have Kevin use Uncle Frank's credit card instead of Peter because it seemed more likely that he would do that. It was still funny when Peter yelled at him for spending 967 dollars on room service though.
Also, it's the return of the Wet Bandits! Oh no!
