A lot had improved over the years regarding the rights of indigenous people. But these rights didn't come automatically, and there were still more to be done.
Mabo Day wasn't in this regard just a day to commemorate the hard work and struggle by Eddie Koiki Mabo, whose campaign led to an overturning of the legal fiction of terra nullius, but also to all those whom have fought and fights for indigenous rights.
