Unexpected Visitors: Chapter 10

Kid was having a fairly nice dinner, fast and polite service, happy smiles, symmetry, until the door opened and a few goons came in. Now his night was in shambles, symmetry gone, food ruined and scowls. Tension was thick and his two weapons were on their feet, Liz radiating anger, while Patty stood silent. To say he was furious was an understatement, but all the same he stayed seated perfectly calm. Three of the men was glaring at them while the fourth looked at the menu oblivious to what was happening, and there was Mrs Thompson, draped over his arm.

"Oh, what a wonderful selection, what should we pick hun?" He said looking at his woman, with a thick accent.

"I don' know Donny you should choose." She replied placing a hand on his chest. At that point even Klein noticed the bad air, and walked over to his newest customers.

"Good evening, may I help you with anything?" He asked them with a smooth voice.

"Ah, you must be the man that owns this fine establishment." The man, Donny directed towards him.

"Indeed I am."

Donny nodded and continued the conversation. "I see, that's good, a man needs something he can work on daily. I like the build but now we must see what the food is like."

"Of course, have you decided on anything? I can get you a table now if you prefer." He smiled staying as charming as possible.

Kid watched as their small talk continued, now feeling agitated, was the man trying to make him angry by ignoring him?

"Well, that Shinigami thing, sounds interesting ya know what I mean?" He paused giving a sigh; he directed a dark look towards Kid. "I'm sure as well that our companions won't mind sharing their table, and maybe our friends here can tell us how it is huh? You see what I'm saying?" It seemed he had been feigning ignorance through their encounter

Klein looked to Kid for approval, the young teen gave him a small nod and he led the group to their table.

"It's a fine evening to take a girl out. A small payment for having a beauty on your arm." Donny said hugging 'his girl' tighter to him.

"Oh Don, you're too much!" She giggled slapping him playfully.

"All in a days work." He replied pulling up a chair. "Now, I hope you're treating these girls nicely kid." Donny directed towards him darkly.

There was a thick silence before Patty broke it with her laughing. "He said kid! Get it cause your name really is Kid!" She explained her laugh dying down.

It made Liz chuckle and the atmosphere was a bit lighter.

"Lets quickly get this out of the way, why are you here?" Kid asked calmly taking a sip of his drink.

"Look at this guy, huh? Ha! well naturally we're here to eat but I won't disrespect you with my smart ass remarks."

"Oh Donny." Miss Thompson giggled.

"Why don't you explain hun?" He suggested.

"Well alright." She agreed "Guess I have no choice." They all waited for the woman to begin, the trio listening intently to every word.

"Ummmm Tsubaki?" Black Star ventured, hesitant for once in his life.

"Yeees." She sighed.

"Well, which way do we go from here?" He asked pointing at the cross road.

"Hmm I wonder." She replied a finger to her chin.

"OK then...I'll just pick...let's go right."

"Whatever you say Black Star."

The pair turned and traveled down the cobblestone alley, it seemed that it was forever long, but maybe it was just the fact Black Star was feeling impatient. Finally after his eternal journey a small shop came into view. "Woohoo! Alright, I'm starving let's hurry Tsubaki."

"Yes, Yes."

The duo entered the shop, Black Star scanned the cafe and immediately noticed a group of thugs and Kid, he could feel the young shinnigami's anger from where he stood. "Tsubaki! Ninja sword!"

"Got it." She replied changing.

"Hey you there!" He called out, but the man standing over his friends didn't respond. "Hey I'm talking to you! Don't you know it's bad news when you disrespect a god." He accused.

"You know...I don't care what you are, but let me tell you what I really hate." Don growled. "Being interrupted! Teach him a lesson he won't forget!"

"Sure boss." A deep voice replied. Black star was caught off guard when a shadow engulfed him and suddenly he found himself flying through the shop's window, even gods have their off days he reasoned making sense of his small failure. Now the air was tense once more all of the occupants trying not to lunge at each other, before anyone could move Klein appeared, holding what appeared to be a rifle, complicated and intimidating.
