In a daze-like state, Elyon Brown walks ever forward...unknowingly guided by the Stone of Threbe...completely oblivious to her friends currently being forced to fight a monster plant without their powers...
In another universe Elyon would eventually snap out of this long enough to get ride of the stone in the nick of time and allow the Guardians to gain the upper hand...only for her to later be absconded and subverted to Phobos's cause...
SQUICK!
This is not that universe...
The Stone of Threbe shorted out and shattered as Elyon fell to the ground...dead as a doornail...a knife in her back plain as day...
"Take that Mrs. 'believes the words of a complete stranger over the friends you've know for years'...what a stupid plotline." Says the 'person' before it fades back into the shadows...
...
Meanwhile, with the stones power destroyed the guardians were quick to regain their powers and defeat their adversary...
But that wasn't the only immediate effect...
...
Phobos fell to the floor in shock...something had thrown the mystical forces of Meridian into absolute disharmony! As if the very heart and soul of the planet had been gutted...
Phobos's eyes widened in horrified understanding, he quickly ran to contact Cedric and order him to immediately find his sister no matter the cost!
While he did that...a great storm began to rage outside across the land...it began to rain lightning, massive tornadoes of fire began to form and multiply, giant glaciers of ice began to burst out of the ground randomly...and monsters that hadn't been seen since ancient times began to rise from their leviathan slumber...
...
The guardians were confused by the sudden turnaround, but were nevertheless grateful for it and didn't question it-
Until...
"Cornelia! Come quick! Elyon was stabbed!" Screamed a sobbing Alchemy over the phone...
...
The team was devastated seeing Elyon wheeled away to the morgue...Cornelia was especially distraught.
With some help from Bunk they managed to retrieve the Stone of Threbe from police lock-up. It had been reduced to a useless, shattered lump. They tried to get the dagger too, but that was already gone.
At the first the guardians blamed Phobos but Yan Lin pointed out that that made no sense. Elyon was already on her way to Meridian at the time, more importantly Phobos needed her ALIVE to gain her power...in any case, powerful as Phobos was, even he couldn't destroy the stone.
They went to talk to the Mage in the infinite city, but she was as baffled as they were.
"A great evil has clouded even my sight. All I can say is that Whoever or WHATever slew the princess was neither on the side of the guardians nor that of Phobos...a THIRD party who not only killed the princess in body...but also in soul and magic as well..."
And that was the most shocking bit. According the Yan Lin; the power of the princess was the mystical heart of Meridian. Ordinarily, killing the 'heir' would simply cause this magic to recede and lie dormant until the next heir is born...but evidently, this didn't happen. The Meridian royal family magic was utterly destroyed...something that was supposed to be impossible!
This was VERY bad. Apparently, without it's heart. The magic of Meridian would start to decay, corrupt and grow increasingly unstable. As earth was it's closest neighbor, it too might be affected by this instability...
Yan Lin didn't want to do it...but between this new complication and the possible further interference of this unknown 'third party' it would seem they would need outside help to continue the fight against Phobos...
"There are other magic users on Earth?" Asked Will.
"Yes, but ordinarily Heatherfield- where the veil between our world and other realms is at it's weakest - was warded and isolated from outside interference. This was thanks to ancient spell weaved between the Heart of Kandrakar and the then current Queen Meridian. Although it kept Evil forces on earth from interfering in the affairs of the veil it also kept Good mystic forces from doing anything as well. An unfortunate but necessary measure as there was no way to exclude them from the spell without leaving it weak in some way for a dark wizard or demon to exploit."
"However, with the magic of Meridian's royal family destroyed, it has already started to crumble. Before you ask, the spell has been lost to the ages. And even if it weren't. The fact that some unknown third party was able to to break through it and murder Elyon, makes me question if it has become obsolete."
"In any case, as tragic as the circumstances are. We can use this opportunity to send for reinforcements. Although isolated, I've tried to at least have SOME contact with the magical Community of Earth..."
She blows off some dust from an old contact book. "Hmmm...a bit dated but...Ah! Legendary Chi master Fong! Yes, he should be able to help us!"
...
Meanwhile, Meridian grew more savage and dangerous...
"Sir! The Lurdens and the guards are taking heavy casualties! What do we do!?" Pleaded a guard.
Phobos groaned, he used some of his magic to enhance the castles defenses further.
He turns to Lord Cedric. "Cedric, Report!"
Cedric hands him the knife he'd stolen from the police that killed Elyon. Phobos tried to use his magic to analyze it, but simply touching it with his magic caused him unimaginable pain!
Phobos cursed, "Whatever this is...it's beyond my magic!"
"But perhaps not beyond mine..."
The two turned just in time to see shadows and smoke form to reveal a wizened old Chinese man clad in dark robes.
"Who are you? How did you get in!?" Demanded Phobos.
The man smirked. "I am Dalong-wong. Grand Chi wizard of the dark arts...and I believe I can be of some assistance to you..."
...
"I can't believe this, you were ALL petrified?!" Asked Jade in disbelief.
Captain Black groaned, last night out of nowhere...he, Jackie and everyone else in Section 13 were temporarily petrified and forced to watch as the Dark Hand made off with the Talismans unopposed.
There was some Good news...apparently someone tipped off Agent Hirsch that Captain Black had defied orders and smuggled the talismans back into section 13 and had brought all his superiors into a surprise inspection in hopes of getting Black fired and himself a promotion...just in time to be petrified...and the enforcers to show off a little with the talismans...
Needless to say...his superiors now completely believed Black, gave him all the support he needed and had Hirsch fired.
...course that did little good seeing as the Talismans were already gone, even worse as the Dark Hand had seemingly vanished without a trace...
"AIYA! locate talismans, stop Dark hand, pay lease! Not enough hours in Uncle's day!" Groans Uncle as he walks over to sort through his bills...he then notices one piece of mail addressed to his former Master Fong.
Uncle let's out a weary sigh, Master Fong had left instructions that if anything were to happen to him...any remaining postage of his would be forwarded to Uncle...for the most part it had just meant more bills and junk mail...
Uncle opens it, reads it...
"AIYA! Everyone pack bags! Urgent emergency!"
"What? But Uncle? What about Dark ha- OW!
Uncle dope-slaps him on forehead, "You want world to fall to disharmony and destruction? No? Then listen to Uncle! This REAL emergency, more important then some washed up thugs!"
...
"And why exactly should I consider your organizations service as an earth Liaison Mr. Valmont?" Asked Phobos.
Mr. Valmont gave a small bow. "For one thing your majesty, I have expertise and intimate knowledge of the affairs of earth. Which can be useful in dealing with those blasted Guardians of yours. Second, my men have a variety of skill you might find useful."
Behind him his men were demonstrating their magic abilities...
Dalong Wong frowned...it looked like the talisman power...yet he could not sense them! What was going on here?
"Finally, I believe I have the means of brokering you additional allies..." Said Valmont as he pulled the Pan'ku Box out of his coat...
...
"I don't remember their being so many streets on the map." Said Jackie as they drove around.
AIYA! Three times around the block without a single space to be seen!? WHY WON'T YOU PEOPLE LEAVE!?" Shouts Uncle angrily as they continued to search for a parking space in Heatherfield...
