Chapter 3.
"He loves it here, I'm glad you talked us into coming" JJ smiled leaning back into the chair.
"I am too, it's good to have you back home" Sandy smiled
They both watched as Henry ran around the garden kicking the ball, JJ felt somewhat calm and relaxed, being back home was not half as bad as she thought It would be, she forgot how much fun she had when she was a young kid.
"So what are your plans for today?" Sandy asked sipping her coffee.
"I'm going to go round and see Emily" JJ looked at her
"That's good means I can take Henry shopping for some Christmas presents. " Sandy smiled.
"Mom he already has enough presents" JJ looked at her.
"Well you don't" Sandy raised her brow.
"Just don't go overboard." JJ sighed
"We will try not too" Sandy smiled.
/
JJ knocked on the door, she placed her hands in her pockets feeling the cold air hit her skin, Seeing the door open she smiled widely, Seeing the tall slim brunette stood at the door nothing about her oldest friend had changed.
"Am I seeing things or is Jennifer Jareau stood on my doorstep" Emily smiled
"Good to see you too Emily" JJ smiled.
Hugging her friend, JJ pulled away, "You got coffee?"
"Do I have coffee?" Emily raised her brow.
Both women laughed, as JJ followed her inside, sitting down at the kitchen counter, JJ smiled looking around the house.
"You and Aaron really did well for yourselves" JJ smiled.
"Well both being Lawyers it does pay well, how's the job in the city going? " Emily asked
JJ sighed. "It's good, I love my job and all the perks but, I don't know"
"Jen, you're like the best communication lesion on out there"
JJ laughed, "Yeah just, I guess it's not what it used to be"
"So what brought you back?" Emily asked.
JJ looked at her friend, "Honestly I needed a break, and seeing my mom and Henry wanted to come for Christmas"
"How is my godson?" Emily smiled.
"He's great and well behaved " JJ smiled
"So what brings you round other than to see me?" Emily smiled.
JJ shook her head, "How do you always know when something is wrong?"
"I'm your best girlfriend, I know you" Emily winked at her
"I bumped into Will LaMontagne" JJ bit her lip.
"As in your best friend, ex-boyfriend LaMontagne?" Emily asked.
"We didn't even date for two years." JJ sipped her coffee.
"He's the guy you lost your virginity to, and the guy who was there through your hardest times and he was totally your boyfriend, I just never understood why you ever broke up in the first place." Emily looked at her.
JJ ran her hand through her hair, "I don't even know" she paused, "We both wanted different things, and then when his mom got sick it all changed." JJ bit her lip.
"And now what you feel all those feelings rushing back?" Emily asked.
"I don't know I guess, I mean my heart did do a 360 on me when I saw him" JJ shook her head.
"Was he carrying his toolbox, all the ladies do that when he's working" Emily joked.
JJ laughed. "He is way hotter than he was ten years ago"
Emily laughed, "You're both single, just flirt with him see where it goes have fun"
JJ nodded, "Thanks Em"
"Always, now how about we plan a date for the Christmas markets me you and the boys, I know Jack would love to meet Henry" Emily smiled.
"That sounds good " JJ smiled/
Hiding the last of the wrapped present under the bed, JJ sat down yawning, it had been a super long day. She was glad she had a chance to have some time to herself, been home and in the house was a lot to take in.
She looked around her bedroom, taking in the room, that represented her as a child, a teenager, she really had changed over the years especially since becoming a mother. She didn't have the easiest childhood, nor had Henry growing up with just a single mom, JJ wanted more than that she wanted a proper family, someone who would love her and Henry, she just wished she knew who that person would be.
/
"Jen where back" Sandy yelled closing the door.
JJ ran down the stairs stopping near the bottom, "You ok?" She asked.
"He has so much Energy" Sandy shook her head.
"Go, sit, I'll make us something warm to drink."
"Mommy, Hot coco" Henry asked
"Sure buddy you can help me make it"
JJ smiled watching as Henry added dozens of marshmallows to his hot chocolate, "Easy bud, we don't need that much sugar"
"I like it here," Henry said looking at her
"Yeah, are you enjoying spending time with Nanna?" JJ asked.
Henry nodded, sipping the drink.
"Well guess what, I'm having fun too" JJ smiled at him.
Listening from the hallway, Sandy smiled to herself, grateful she talked her daughter into finally returning home.
"Hold onto it, tight ok" JJ said grabbing the two mugs off the counter as they both made their way into the living room.
Sitting down, JJ wrapped the blanket over herself, Henry, and her mother.
"We need a tree," Sandy said looking at the empty space in the living room.
"We can go pick one out," JJ said sipping her drink.
"Real tree?" Henry asked.
"Yeah, how cool will that be"
"Yeah!" Henry shouted.
