Chapter 5.
Walking into the tree lot JJ couldn't help but smile when she saw how happy and excited Henry was, at picking his first real Christmas tree.
"Mommy look at all trees" Henry yelled all excited
JJ smiled watching him "Stay close buddy and keep your hat on it's cold"
"He's going to pick the big one isn't he?" Sandy laughed.
"Maybe we get two one for the living room and one for the dining room" JJ smiled.
"Good Idea" Sandy smiled linking arms with her daughter
"So I hear Will joined you and Henry the other night" Sandy spoke
"Yeah, he did" JJ sighed.
"What happened?" Sandy looked at her
"Nothing mom, nothing at all" JJ looked at her hoping she would drop the topic of convocation.
JJ and Sandy walked behind Henry watching as he ran around looking for the perfect tree.
"Mom what about this one?" Henry smiled, pointing at the tree
"I like it, could do for the dining room, then a bigger one in the living room" Sandy smiled.
"Perfect" JJ smiled.
"I'll go get Bill, you find the big one Henry wants" Sandy smiled.
"This may take a while," JJ said to herself.
"MOMMY LOOK THIS ONE THIS ONE" Henry jumped up and down.
Walking to Henry, JJ picked him up looking at the tree, "Little man It's perfect."
"Jen you find a tree?" Sandy asked
"We did, we got help?" JJ asked.
"Help is here." Will smiled.
"Hey," JJ said looking at him
"Hey" Will spoke looking away from her.
Sandy looked between them both. "Everything ok?"
"Perfect" JJ and Will spoke at the same time.
Carrying the tree, Will watched as Henry kept staring at him.
"Both of these won't fit on your car, how about I bring them around after we close can give you a hand and maybe cook for you guys? " Will said
JJ nodded, "Thanks but..."
"William, that's a fabulous idea, how about seven?" Sandy smiled.
"Sound's good" Will gave her a soft smile.
"Make sure Bill comes with you, William" Sandy smiled at him.
"You got it" Will nodded,
Carrying the new decorations into the house, JJ placed her bag on the counter. "So Bill LaMontagne still runs the tree lot?" JJ asked.
"Wouldn't have it any of way, the best trees around" Sandy smiled
"You didn't need to invite them around," JJ said.
"Ok, what is up with you?" Sandy asked.
"Nothing," JJ said sitting down.
"You're in that mood" Sandy looked at her.
"What mood?" JJ asked.
"The me and Will are fighting mood, Gosh, I haven't seen you like this since you were nineteen and he broke up with you" Sandy shook her head.
"Wait how did you..." JJ looked at her.
"Know you were dating?" Sandy looked at her.
"Sweetie, Will took off every weekend and you're my daughter" Sandy looked at her.
JJ ran her hand through her hair, "This is so messed up"
"What happened?" Sandy asked
"We just got in a fight" JJ sighed.
"About?" Sandy eyed her.
"Us, what we could have had if I committed to him and not everyone else but him" JJ licked her lips.
"Oh, Jen" Sandy wrapped her arms around her.
Crying, JJ looked at her. "I really screwed up"
"You two will always be each other's true love, and you need to have a proper talk" Sandy
JJ nodded, wiping her tears. "I guess"
"Go get cleaned up they will be here soon." Sandy
JJ nodded, wiping her eyes. "Guess I have to stop been so stubborn"
"It's one of the reasons we all love you" Sandy smiled.
JJ shook her head, making her way upstairs, After washing her face, and brushing her hair, JJ heard the doorbell, changing into her Christmas jumper, she waited a few minutes before going downstairs. Walking through the door, Will stopped seeing JJ.
"You need a hand?" JJ asked,
"Actually that would be great" Will looked at her.
Grabbing the tree, JJ helped guide Will into the living room. "That's a heavy tree" JJ shook her head, helping Will place it down.
"Yeah, you picked a good one Henry" Will smiled at him.
"Can we put the lights on?" Henry asked,
JJ ruffled his hair, "Soon first we need to set the tree up. " JJ smiled at him.
"Why don't you come to help me make some hot Chocolate" Sandy smiled at him.
"Yeah!" Henry giggled.
"Bill, want to join us?" Sandy asked.
"Of course," Bill said following them into the kitchen.
"Smooth" Will said
"Oh yeah," JJ said letting out a little smile.
Will started setting out the tree.
"You know I am sorry for the other day," JJ said helping him
Will nodded, "I am too, I shouldn't have had a go at you like that, not like we were ever fully official or anything"
JJ bit her lip. "No, I guess not"
"This good?" Will asked,
JJ nodded, "Perfect actually"
"Maybe we can talk later, like really talk?" JJ asked.
"Yeah, that's a good idea." Will looked at her.
"Ok, who wants some hot chocolate?" Sandy came back into the room.
"Me" Both JJ and Will laughed.

JJ and Will both laughed, holding up the tree as Henry wrapped the lights on the tree.
"Easy buddy" JJ said catching him before he fell over.
Sandy and Bill watched from across the room sorting the rest of the decorations
"I dizzy" Henry
JJ and Will laughed, "How about you sit down and let me and Will finish it" JJ smiled.
"Can I put the star on?" Henry asked.
"Of course you can, it's your special job" JJ smiled kissing the top of his head.
Finishing the lights, JJ started placing the ribbing around the tree. "Can you pass me some of the baubles?" JJ asked looking at Will.
"Sure" He smiled.
As JJ and Will placed the baubles on the tree, Sandy, Bill, and Henry decorated the rest of the room with Garlands and stockings.
"So what does everybody think?" JJ asked stepping back.
"I think it just needs the star, what you say Henry?" Will asked.
"It's pretty mommy," Henry said.
Sandy handed Henry the star, "Go on" She smiled.
"Here bud, climb on my shoulders." Will smiled, helping Henry up, he held him tight standing back up.
JJ smiled widely, watching Will with Henry, she couldn't help but feel a warmth feeling go through her.
"That's it, buddy right there" JJ smiled watching as Henry placed the star on the tree.
Turning on the lights everyone cheered. JJ smiled standing close to Will, not noticing Sandy take a picture of the three of them.
"I hungry" Henry said
"Well, looks like it's time for me to start cooking," Will said lifting Henry off his shoulders.
"Buddy, you want to watch a movie while we wait for dinner?" JJ asked,
"Grinch?" Henry asked,
JJ smiled, "Go grab blanky, and Mr frog" Seeing Henry runoff, JJ looked at everyone. "What?"
"Nothing," They all said.
"We will watch the movie with Henry, Jen will help you cook" Bill spoke
JJ shook her head, following Will into the kitchen. "Why do I feel like they're trying to play matchmakers?"
"Cause that's what they've been doing since we were like thirteen" Will smiled.
JJ shook her head, "I guess I was too stubborn to ever admit it" JJ shook her head.
"Admit what?" Will asked.
JJ looked at him, "That I always had a crush on you"
Will nodded, "Me too"
JJ blushed. "I'm an idiot"
Will stood in front of her, "You're not an idiot, you're you"
JJ looked at him. "You know you're the only person who sees right through me right?" she sighed "Even after all these years"
Will nodded, "I know"
"So what we cooking" JJ trying to change the subject.
"Mac n cheese, with extra cheese" Will smiled.
"Ok, that sounds amazing and Henry will love it"
Pulling the tray out of the oven, Will laid it out onto the counter
"That smells amazing," JJ said looking at it.
"It's my favorite thing to cook" Will smiled at her.
JJ bit her lip, "I'll go let everyone know it's ready.
Walking into the living room, JJ stopped seeing Henry her mother, and Bill all asleep, wrapping her arms around herself, she felt a shiver down her spine.
"I guess we can now have that real talk" Will whispered in her ear.
JJ turned around seeing him holding two plates of food. Grabbing the blanket off the chair, JJ walked out into the garden. Sitting down JJ wrapped the blanket over herself and Will, taking the plate, JJ took a mouthful.
"This is the best mac and cheese I've ever eaten," JJ said looking at Will
Laughing Will looked at her, "It does taste better than normal."
"The sleeping bears don't know what they're missing" JJ joked.
Will looked at her, "I missed you, you know"
"I missed you too, there's been so much happen over the last few years and honestly, I wish I had someone to share it all with" JJ looked out into the sky.
"You've done a great job on your own JJ" Will looked at her.
JJ nodded, "I know but I worry that I didn't do enough, giving Henry a proper family."
"No one has a proper family JJ" Will squeezed her hand.
"I could have, If I wasn't such a screw up" JJ looked away
"I think we both screwed it up," Will said pulling her face towards his
"Do you ever think about what we could have been?" JJ whispered.
"Everyday" Will smiled
Will leaned in gently pressing his lips on hers, both feeling a spark and warmth rush through their bodies. JJ smiled returning the kiss, not wanting the moment to end.
