Mike walked in to the kitchen, the kids had finally settled down and gone to sleep. It had taken a while on account they were on a serious sugar high after sneaking a lot of chocolate from the cupboard. Leaning against the door frame Mike watched Kate as she wrote something down on the papers in front of her before scrubbing it out and ripping the page from the notebook in front of her. He smiled as she was always ripping pages out instead of just crossing the mistake out. She was a perfectionist
"everything alright?" he smiled kissing the top of her head before pulling 2 glasses from the rack above her head.
"yeah. They asleep?" she asked
"just about. Grace and Chris eventually went off and Nicole is listening to Harry Potter" he smiled walking up behind her. "so, what's all this" he asked handing her a glass of white wine.
"A way of stopping the Kids constantly asking for snacks and going on munchie hunts" she grinned
"right. What is it?" he asked sitting next to her.
"a Tuck shop." she smiled
"right so they spend all their pocket money on junk" Mike frowned
"not quite. They will get $50 a day and that's their spends for the snacks" she smiled
"fifty dollars! They will be higher than bloody kites with all the sugar they will eat"
"no, they won't" she smiled "look" she pushed her makeshift price list towards him. "if they are careful then they will be able to have 2 snacks and a drink a day, but they will have to budget" she smiled "so this is also a educational thing for them" she winked
"wow that's expensive $30 for 2 Tim tams, I can go to the dollar store and by all of this and still have some change." he said
"yeah well its basic supply and demand. There is a high demand for all of this but I have a limited supply so the price goes up" she grinned "that's also why the healthy stuff is cheaper"
"ah nice plan, but where..."
Already interpreting the question, she pulled the Monopoly box towards her pulling out the paper notes that formed part of the game.
"ah I get it now. but I am pretty sure they will soon get Savvy and try and roll everything over to get more money and more snacks. Especially Grace," he smiled
"yeah one step ahead of you there. There is going to be no roll, over if they don't spend it then they get the money back the next day with the difference to $50.
"in that case, nice plan" he smiled
"i know" she grinned "although it does mean you are going to have to learn a new word. Its only a little one and it is NO. I know Grace has you wrapped around her little finger." she grinned
"and what's that supposed to mean" he said pulling her stool towards him.
"nothing just when it comes to Grace you just always say yes." she grinned
"you're going to pay for that" he said pulling her close
Adding the last few prices to the price list she had made; she had made sure all the kid's favourites were one there. Shapes, tiny teddies, burger rings ovaltinines. All of them none too healthy so they were at the higher price. She also had included fresh fruit which was cheap in the hopes that they would choose that over the chips and junk food. This would also make them think wisely about their choices as once they had spent their money for the day then there would be no more.
"you might want to also have a log of what they spend as they may hide the money or saying they spent it when they didn't" Mike grinned
"already sorted" she smiled holding up a red notebook "and I need to make sure they eat some fruit so may introduce banns on the junk if they keep choosing it" Kate smiled
Brushing the hair off her shoulder Mike leaned in teasing her in to a kiss. Pushing back against him Kate smiled
"why don't we finish these" he indicated to the glasses of wine "and maybe have an early night" he whispered
Her eyes flickered reading his mind. Grinning coyly, she picked up her glass downing the last little bit of liquid that was in there. Sliding off her seat she ran her hand down his arm before taking his hand in hers pulling him up.
Falling back on to the bed Kate giggled softly as Mike ran his hands under her shirt, tugging it over her head he kissed her along her collar bone making his way up to her mouth before kissing her passionately. She wrapped her arms around his neck pulling him closer deepening the kiss...
When she awoke the following morning, Kate looked over and could see mike still fast asleep next to her. Looking at her clock It was showing 05:55. Leaning back against her pillows she slid from the sheets, she was wide awake and once she was awake, she really had to be doing something productive. Grabbing her robe off the side she tiptoed down stairs. The upside of waking up this early was she could sort the snack cupboard out and make sure the 'pricelist' was on the door so when the kids came down, they could see that things had changed and they weren't going to get their own way anymore. She had also reinstalled the baby lock on the cupboard so they couldn't just pull it open. Not without damaging the actual cupboard door
Sitting down with a cup of coffee she smiled when Mike walked in, he looked at the cupboard. She had added a colourful sign that said tuck-shop and the so-called prices were stuck underneath. On the counter she had placed lots of 50 monopoly dollars made up with different notes so they could count out the correct amounts.
"i hope you a ready for this because they are not going to like this."
"well was this or snack jail and I couldn't get 3 of the thingeys off amazon" she grinned as the children walked in to the Kitchen looking at the tuckshop the first time#
so huge thanks to you all for reviewing (you'll know who you are ) so the snacks in the 'tuckshop' I basically got from watching buzzfeed Australia videos on youtube (snack swaps) so forgive me if some of them are a little off. (I am over 10,000 miles away :P) anyway hope you enjoy and let me know what you think. I have got a lot more lockdown fun planned.
