FOREWORD
I'm baaaack everyone. Man, I have been gone for a WHILE now. But you know, sometimes life gets in the way. Now, I won't be answering any of the comments from last chapter, just because it's been so long and most of hem are "Hey, when the next chapter?" Well the next chapter is now. So, I hope you all enjoy it and Happy New Year's
Itsuwa thought that she had the fight in the bag. Her opponent was wrapped in a cocoon of steel wire and seemed to have no way out. Itsuwa was slowly twisting her spear, causing the wires to slowly wrap themselves move and more around the girl trapped in the middle of them. Itsuwa of course did not want to kill the girl rapped in the cocoon of wire, just make her pass out from the stress of the wires squeezing her or from mild blood lose. Either of which would take her out of the fight and be one less person that she would have to compete against to find the elusive boy, Kamijou Touma.
Itsuwa could feel the wires against a solid object and squeezing something that she assumed was the younger girl's body.
'I really hate to do this, but I have to be the first to find that boy. Just a few more minutes and it'll be done.' Thought Itsuwa to herself.
Just then, Itsuwa started to feel a resistance to the wires through her spear. Her spear started to slowing twist in the opposite direction in her, as if the wires were trying to unspool and unwrap themselves. She tried to use her hands to hold the spear fast, to prevent it from twisting but the spear then bean to twist faster and faster in her hands. The twist of the spear was starting give her a slight friction burn, but Itsuwa held fast and managed to stab the head of the spear into the ground, hoping that the extra leverage would stop it from unspooling the cocoon of wires.
But just as Itsuwa thought that it had worked, she saw something strange. The cocoon of wire had bulged. The cocoon of wires bulged slightly and then contracted. Then it happened again. And again. Itsuwa saw this but did not know what was going on.
Finally, the cocoon of wire bulged and stayed bulged. It bulged more and more until finally there was a loud crackling sound. The cocoon of wire then bulged out three meters in all direction, until finally there was a loud explosion with a blinding white light.
Itsuwa shielded her eyes from the blinding light as bits and piece of the wires that she had used were sent flying in every direction. Itsuwa fell instantly to the ground, knowing any piece of the steel wires flying in all directions could seriously harm or even kill her moving at the speeds they were moving.
Itsuwa could feel the dust and the wind kicked up from the explosion blowing past her body and on her skin. She quickly closed her eyes and tried to keep her mouth closed to prevent any of the dust from entering her mouth and lungs but had not managed it completely. This caused her to have a bit of a coughing fit.
Once Itsuwa could no longer feel the wind and dust blowing past her, she opened her eyes and looked to where the explosion had occurred.
And there, standing just a handful of meters away way the other girl, not any worst for wear. Looking like the wires had not even touched her.
"That was a good try," said the younger girl "but it was stupid of you to use steel wires against someone for can control electricity. Now it's my turn." As she combed her fingers through her hair, blue-ish electricity arcing between her hair and her fingers.
Accelerator had been sent flying a dozen meters or so from his enemy. He didn't know how, but he was unable to completely reflect the attacks of the man he currently faced.
"I haven't had this much trouble with someone since that fu$king hero." Accelerator said quietly to himself.
Far from being discouraged, Accelerator was actually a bit excited. He had found someone that he could potentially play with for a little white before he finally killed him. With a deranged smile on his face, Accelerator manipulated the vector beneath his feet, and put on an extra burst of speed, hoping to surprise the older man.
William saw the boy a dozen or so meters away but didn't know what to make of him. There were only a handful of people in the world who could withstand his attack, and the skinny, pale, albino boy didn't seem like he should one of them. And while the boy wasn't able to completely resist his attack, he had someway of resisting enough that he wasn't able to get a clean blow and finish the fight.
William saw the boy place a completely deranged smile on his face, and suddenly the boy was closing in on him fast. The boy went from a dozen or more meters away to just four of five meters away and still closing. Almost before he knew, the boy was damn near in his face, with an outstretched hand. If he was anyone else, this would have been bad. There was no way any ordinary person could avoid whatever attack the boy had planned. But lucky for him, he wasn't an ordinary person. Due to his abilities and years of fighting on the battlefield, William's reflexes and battle senses were finely homed. When the boy's fingers were only a few centimeters away, William was able to twist to the side, dodging the boy's hand. The twisting to the side caused the boy to continue on past William and landing four and five meters behind him. Quickly turning around to prevent from getting attacked from behind, William turned and faced the boy.
'I missed!? Me? I can't believe he was able to dodge that. Just who is this f^cker?' thought Accelerator to himself as he landed some four or five meters behind the older man. But far from discouraged, Accelerator quickly turn back towards the man and launched himself at him again. But this time Accelerator moved slightly faster than the last time. He covered the distance between them over just a little over two seconds. Accelerator was sure that he had the man this time, but again the man managed to twist out the way and dodge the attack.
Since Accelerator was moving a bit faster this time, he landed farther away from his opponent, who was now eight or nine meters away. Launching himself at the man again, but still even faster. Accelerator managed to close the distant between the two in just over a second. Just when one of Accelerator's fingers was only two centimeters away from touching him, William managed to twist and dodge once again. But this time Accelerator was ready for that. Flying slightly past the man, Accelerator used his powers on the air around him. Using the air Accelerator slowed himself down while at the same time gathering air beneath his feet, using his ability to stop the kinetic energy of the air, causing it to stop in place and create a solid wall of air. Using this wall, Accelerator kicked off of it, launching himself in the opposite direction and directly at the man who had dodged his attack more then once.
William once again had dodged the boy and was turning back around to face the boy, not wanting to be attacked from behind. But when he did he was surprised by what he saw. The boy was already almost right in his face. Somehow the boy had managed to close the gap between before he noticed.
'I don't think I can dodge it in time!' thought William to himself.
The boy's outstretched hand was only three centimeters away at this point, and he knew he had to act fast. He didn't know exactly would happen if the boy managed to touch him, but he knew that it couldn't be anything good as the boy kept trying to do it.
'I've got him this time, thought Accelerator, "He won't be able to dodge this and all I need is for just one finger to even graze him and I'll cause his blood to flow backwards and burst, killing him.'
A crazed look and a deranged smile appeared on Accelerator's face as he knew that this was the end for his opponent.
Touma had left fairly early in the morning. He had a meeting with someone to go to and he really didn't want to have to deal with dragging Index and Othinus with him to this meeting. So, he left before either of the two had awoken. It was a weekday, so normally he would be in school, but he had gotten permission from his teacher and the school to be absent today and had gotten permission from the city for a day pass outside the walls of Academy City.
It wasn't easy for him to leave the city. Once he got to the wall and the person at the gate had asked him for his pass, he had checked his pocket but could not find. A bit panicked, he checked all his pockets but couldn't find his day pass. He even sat on the cold and semi wet ground and took his shoes off to check if maybe that had somehow gotten in there.
When he had finally found the pass, it was stuck to the bottom of his shoe. He peeled the pass off and saw the slip pf paper was now wet, muddy and useless.
"Sorry kid, but no pass, no leaving the city." Said the sympathetic gate guard.
Touma then stood, balled up the useless pass and threw it in the trash bin that was next to the gate guard. But instead of being discouraged, Touma laughed while placing his hands on his hip as if he was some sort of superhero.
"Hahaha! I foresaw something like this happening, declared Touma. "So I prepared this!"
That's when the pulled out his cell phone, tapped a few things on the screen and presented the screen to the confused the gate guard.
The guard looked at the screen and saw a picture of a day pass on the screen. The guard looked at the pass on the phone and then up at the boy. The boy had a slightly smug smile on his face, satisfied that he had prepared in advance for this occurrence.
The guard then pulled out a handheld scanner and canned the barcode on the screen. The scanner beeped and the guard looked down at the display on the scanner.
The guard then read out loud what he saw displayed:
Kamijou, Touma,
Age: 16
Level: 0
Ability: NA
Length of Leave: 1 Day
"Ok kid, it seems that everything is in order. You're free to go."
And with those word Touma walked through the gate, leaving Academy City.
There was bus stop a few blocks down the street and the plan was to catch the bus into Tokyo where he would have his meeting. The meeting wasn't till later this afternoon, so Touma had plenty of time to get there.
"It a nice day out. It was cool without being cold and warm without being too warm. The day is perfect." Said Touma to himself.
If only he knew the kind of turmoil was brewing back in Academy City and for him in the future.
