Sitting in the Kitchen Kate sighed. The clouds had once again rolled in and a storm was brewing. It was going to be a long day, if it did rain then the Kids would be reluctant to go outside and have a run about which would mean they would be as mad as a box of frogs because of all the pent-up energy. Hopefully the weather would improve and would brighten up.
She looked up from her tablet as Mike walked in.
"Brew?" he asked switching the kettle on.
"that would be fantastic" she smiled walking up to him.
Running her fingers through his hair she smiled "you are really going to have to let me give you a haircut. You're starting to look like Shaggy from Scooby doo" she grinned
"oh really" he grinned wrapping his around her from behind. "well if I am shaggy, does that make you Velma" he said kissing in to her neck.
Pulling away she turned to face him. "Defiantly Shaggy. Have you had at all in the last few days?" she asked
"its designer stubble" he said
"whatever, anyway what makes you think I would be Velma?" she asked "why not Daphne"
"Velma was the smart one and she was beautiful in her own way"
"well you're going to need to have a shave if you want to kiss me again" she grinned
"is that right" he said pinning her against the counter. Teasing her in to a kiss.
Moaning slightly, she leaned in to him wrapping her arms around his neck pulling him closer deepening the kiss. Pulling away slightly she smiled in to his lips. "okay that was a one off"
"i think we can change that" he grinned
"well I am going to go to the shops later" she smiled
"okay."
"well you not going to try and fight me to be the one who goes" she grinned
"not today no. I have stuff I need to do here" he smiled
"fine" she grinned "I will take Chris with me; he can sit in the shopping cart" she smiled
"okay but the girls aren't going to like that" he said
"I know but Nicole will more than likely moan all the way round and Grace will just run around like a loon. I can confine Chris to the shopping cart which he loves being pushed around in" Kate smiled
"but it's okay for them to run around like loons here" Mike grinned
"yes, because they are in the house." Kate laughed "mike I will be a few hours if that., I am sure you can cope" she said walking out to find Chris to get him ready.
Once she had got Chris ready Kate smiled. Surprisingly it hadn't taken as long as it normally would to get him ready. Normally he would go rigid meaning getting shoes on was nion-impossible and would normally be a battle of wills.
"why can't I come mummy?" Grace asked walking up behind Kate.
"because I can't take all of you Grace, and you will just want to prance and dance down the isles to the music" Kate smiled
"but I won't mummy I promise" Grace wailed
"Grace, I don't have time for this. You stay here with Daddy, see if you can't persuade him to let mummy cut his hair later" Kate smiled.
Looking up Grace thought about it for a moment. "okay" she said with a smile growing across her face before skipping off in to the living room.
"See you later then" Kate smiled picking Chris up and shutting the door behind her.
Grace sat on the floor in the living room playing with her Girls world styling head. Running her hairbrush through the bottle-blond nylon hair. It got caught in a knot about halfway down. Pushing the doll face down on to the carpet she knelt on it pulling the brush hard trying to get it free.
"Be careful Grace" Mike called walking in to the room.
"i am being careful daddy" she said crossly as the brush remained firmly stuck in place.
"Well bring it here then" Mike said holding his hand out
Picking up the doll by the hair she carried it over to her dad.
Holding it between his knees he gently began easing the strands of nylon hair out of the bristles of the hairbrush. The hair was a matted mess. It had bobbles and clips stuck in everywhere.
"Grace you really need to take better care of your toys" he said as he managed to eventually get the brush free.
"I am careful daddy" she said pulling both from mikes lap dropping them on the floor where she sat
"your welcome!" Mike called as she sat back down.
20 minutes later Grace looked up. "Daddy" she said sweetly
"Yes Grace" Mike sighed looking up from the papers he was reading.
"will you play hairdressers with me?" she asked.
"after the way you were with Barbie.?" he looked at her over the top of his glasses
"Please daddy" Grace shuffled across the room on her knees, hands clasped together begging.
"i thought you were playing with Barbie?" Mike said putting his papers on the side.
"but I can't do anything with her hair it's too knotted and nothing will work." Grace sighed begging.
"i must be mad" Mike smiled rolling his eyes. "but go on then" he grinned
"yay" Grace cheered running over to her toy-box pulling out the rest of her 'hairdressing' box. It was mainly old empty bottles of Kates as well as clips and other accessories from the dollar store.
Sitting on one of the kitchen chairs Mike looked nervous this could be a interesting experience. Grace grabbed the little wooden step she stood on when she was helping to bake cakes in the kitchen. Running the brush through Mikes hair Grace began lifting individual strands looking at them.
"Everything okay?" Mike asked turning his head to try and see what Grace was doing.
"Keep still Daddy!" grace ordered
"okay" Mike laughed "sorry" he turned his head around back to face the front.
Hearing the front door open Mike smiled now that Kate was home.
"we're back" Kate called as Chris ran through giggling holding a share bag of Cadburys chocolate buttons
"In here" Mike called
Kate walked in to the Kitchen just as Grace picked up her craft scissors
"Gracie what are you doing?" Kate asked looking over.
"were playing hairdressers" Grace grinned as she cut in to the back of mikes hair...

p.s. I said in chapter 16 or 17 it would take 2 years to pay the 250 back. my maths went wrong it will take 50 months which is actually 4 and a bit years. blame it on the lockdown hey ho.
