Kate stood in the kitchen breaking up a chocolate bar dividing it equally on to three plates. She had eventually given in to boredom and decided to try the latest thing to hit Facebook and Instagram. The chocolate challenge, She had seen some hilarious attempts pop up on her feeds some children managing it leaving their parents speechless and others failing in spectacular fashion and the excuses that these children gave were just as funny, and some of the children didn't even bother to hide the evidence that they had chowed down on the chocolaty treat. It was basically leaving the children in a room alone with a piece of chocolate in front of them to see if they could resist the temptation and not touch the chocolate alone.

Walking in Mike placed a glass in the sink.

"what are you doing" he asked walking over towards her.

"the chocolate challenge" she grinned

"the what?" he asked confused.

"the chocolate challenge" she said turning to face him.

"okay I think you may just have been spending a little too much time on Instagram" he laughed

"hey we literally have nothing else to do" she protested

"or is it TikTok?" he grinned remembering some of the videos her, Nikki and Bird had posted of them dancing on the deck of Hammersley

"hey don't knock TikTok till you have tried it" Kate laughed

"so what is this chocolate challenge then? I thought it was eating as much chocolate as you can"

"well this one is different. We basically place some chocolate in front of the kids and leave them for a few minutes and see if they can resist the chocolate and not eat it till, we get back"

"right and the point of it is..." he questioned, enjoying the face this was annoying her a little

"because it will be funny to see what the kids do. I mean I think the only one who will do it is Nicole and that will only be because this will be considered lame."

"so what do we do then" Mike sighed considering actually what the children would do.

"like I said we put the chocolate in front of them then leave to go to the bathroom say and then just watch and see what they do." she smiled

"so who are we going to get to go first" Mike grinned

"well we will start with Chris as he is the youngest then work our way up" she said placing the camera on the book case, along with the baby video monitor so she could check in real time what they were doing. "perfect" she smiled as the cameras were in the perfect position.

"well good luck. I on the other hand have a meeting to get to" he said

At that moment Chris plodded over dragging his blanket behind him.

"Chris" Kate cooed "do you want to play a game with mummy?" she asked.

"Game?" he asked walking up to her holding his arms up to be lifted for a cuddle

"yes" Kate smiled lifting him up in to her arms before sitting him at the table.

Pulling the plate with the chocolate towards him she watched as his eyes lit up with glee at seeing the square of chocolate.

"chockie" he squealed clapping his hands.

"yes, now mummy just needs to go to the toilet. You mustn't touch that till mummy gets back" Kate said standing up to leave

"Chockie" Chris said again looking up at Kate confused

"yes don't touch till mummy gets back" Kate smiled before walking out towards the downstairs bathroom.

Picking up her phone she loaded up the app for the baby monitor to watch exactly what Chris was doing.

Surprisingly he still had the chunk of chocolate in front of him. He was picking it up, sniffing it, licking it but so far, he hadn't bit in to it. deciding she had left it enough time she walked back in to see he still had the chocolate in front of him

"Chis" she smiled walking up to him "well done did you leave it alone" she grinned as he nodded. "you are such a good boy. You can eat it now" she smiled watching as he started to eat it and ended up with a huge sticky, chocolaty mess all over his hands. Grabbing a cloth, she wiped up the mess around his mouth and off his fingers before he climbed down toddling off after the cat.

Kate had just switched off the camera Kate sat down connecting it to the computer so she could upload it later when Mike walked in switching the kettle on.

"so how is your mad social experiment going then" he grinned.

"well Chris who I did think would eat the chocolate before I got back did actually leave it. I mean he did lick the back of the square but he did leave it" she smiled

"wow what about the girls?" he asked as he made them both a brew.

"well I didn't want to do them all one after another they may get suspicious"

"right" he grinned "well I have another meeting I have to attend on zoom so I guess we shall see later"

Kate actually got her predictions spot on apart from Chris. Grace had scoffed her chocolate before Kate had even left the room properly and when she returned Grace claimed her imaginary friend bee had taken the chocolate. And she was right Nicole had rolled her eyes when Kate explained and sat with her arms folded the whole time and didn't touch it.

Lying in bed that night Kate smiled as she watched Mike walk out of the en suite

"so did you learn something then with the Kids" Mike asked as he climbed in to the bed next to her

Shuffling over she rested her head on his shoulder "actually it was quite funny. Grace scoffed hers before I even got to the door" she grinned

"really" Mike laughed

"yeah and then she tried to blame that imaginary friend of hers. Bee"

"she is a right one isn't she. She was looking at my calendar earlier, I asked her what she was doing she said she wanted to know what was going to happen"

Kate let out a laugh the one thing she never got board of was the things the children came out with. Every day was always something new and always made her smile. She just hoped Grace would never lose her spirit as she got older.
