Stepping forward Kate smiled taking in the beauty if everything.

"you did all of this" she smiled

"well considering all the restaurants are closed and we can't go out for dinner. I thought I would make everything special" she smiled

"i did wonder why you weren't bothered when I was called in to NAVCOM this morning" she smiled

"yeah that may have been me. I asked them to keep you busy" he smiled.

"really" she laughed "explains why I was the only CO of the patrol, boats actually in the building and all the others were all on a bad zoom chat." she grinned "I still can't believe you did all of this"

"well I did have help" he smiled looking over at Grace and Nicole.

Looking over at her girls she held out her arm waving both girls over. Pulling them in to a hug. "thank you" she whispered kissing the tops of their heads.

Turning as the girls wiggled free. "thank you" she whispered up at mike wrapping her arms around his waist reaching up to kiss him. "Happy Anniversary" she smiled in to his lips.

"are you two going to sit down or do you no longer require your table. We are very busy tonight" Grace piped up looking over at her parents

Both Mike and Kate let out a snort of laughter. "we're sorry we will take our seats now" Mike smiled placing his hand in the small of Kates back leading her over to the table.

Pulling the chair out for Kate to sit down he walked round sitting opposite her. Grace walked over handing them both a 'Menu'. Looking at it, it had a very dodgy looking heart painted on one side. It was clear Mike had made this a Family project enlisting the help of Chris for decorations. It was quite sweet. Reading down the menu there was only one option for each course and each of them were Kates favourite. Tomato Bruschetta to start, followed by Pasta in a creamy chicken and mushroom sauce and it stated a surprise as a desert

Grace reappeared back in no time holding a notepad "are you ready to order. I will take first dish first" she said

Smiling and trying not to laugh as this scene was cute. "can I have the Bruschetta please" she smiled

Looking over at Mike "and you daddy... Sir" she stumbled

"i think I will have the same. Infact I think we will have the whole menu. One dish of everything each please" Mike said looking up at Kate who was shaking her head trying not to laugh.

Putting the menus at the other end of the table Mike looked up at Kate smiling. "sorry this isn't exactly the most romantic of evenings"

Reaching over she took his hand "its perfect" she said leaning over to kiss him as Grace came over with the plates.

"Enjoy" she smiled placing the plates in front of them.

Tucking in to the Bruschetta Kate coughed slightly as the overpowering flavour of garlic hit the back of her throat "Did you oversee the cooking of this meal?" Kate asked

"yes why?" Mike asked

"no reason just its just a tad OTT on the garlic" she smiled "but its still nice"

"good" Mike smiled taking a bite of his own.

Clearing her plate Kate didn't realise how hungry she actually was. she hadn't had a chance to eat properly all day on account of Mike's plan to keep her occupied at NAVCOM.

Nicole appeared to clear the plates "was everything to your likening?" she asked

"beautiful" Kate smiled

"well main course won't be long" she said picking up the plates carrying them in to the kitchen

10 minutes later Nicole returned carrying 2 pasta bowls placing them in front of her parents. "creamy chicken and mushroom pasta" she said

"and cheesy garlic bread" Grace said pushing her way in

"thank you. It smells amazing" Kate smiled digging in.

Thankfully this dish as well as the garlic had slightly more normal levels of Garlic in. Both the pasta and the garlic bread.

"Quick question" Kate grinned looking up at him. "why did you choose such a garlic rich Menu for our anniversary meal?"

"because I know the menu, I have created is ur favourite foods and we both will have garlic breath so..." he grinned taking a big bite of the garlic bread slice he picked up.

"well I aint going to be kissing you later" she grinned

Once they had finished Nicole appeared at the table collecting the plates

"Are you ready for deserts yet?" she asked picking up the plates.

"in a bit thanks sweet" Kate smiled "let's let our dinner go down a bit"

She was surprised how much Nicole was doing. Normally it was a raging battle to get her to load the dishwasher when it was her turn and yet here, she was playing waitress and cleaning up afterwards. She looked over to the living room where Chris was sat in his play-pen watching Peppa pig on Netflix with Grace sat next to him. She had obviously gotten board of waiting for her parents to eat their food.

A few minutes later Nicole walked over carrying a chocolate ice-cream cake.

"ice cream cake" Kate smiled

"told you it was all your favourites. And its milk chocolate not dark"

"thank you" Kate smiled

They were quickly joined by grace who was carrying 4 plates grinning in the least subtle way possible eyeing up the cake that was now on the table. Looking up at Mike, Kate smiled

"go on then" she sighed rolling her eyes playfully. indicating to the empty seats next to them both of course they wouldn't be able to have the whole evening to them selves

"yay" Grace cheered sitting next to her dad.

"I'll just get Chris, Nicole can you get his bowl please" Kate smiled standing from the table walking in to the living room. "Chris" she smiled "ice cream?" she said softly

Chris turned looking up at his mum. "appy versery" he said "ice cream" he cheered as Kate lifted him out of the pen. She also managed to pick up the present she had brought Mike she had hidden next to the sideboard. Heading back in to the dining room avoiding falling over the cat she sat Chris in his chair. she rested her present against the chair before sitting down as Mike passed her a plate with a large slice of the ice cream cake on.

"heres to 14 years" he smiled leaning over to kiss her

Smiling against his lips. "can we eat this cake before it melts everywhere" she grinned pulling away.
