Sitting on the sofa Kate sighed. The house was ever so quiet since the kids had been allowed back in to school. It may have only been a week but she missed having them around, despite the fact home schooling had been driving her insane she missed the arguments and the intense battle to get Grace to sit still and do her work.

A notification pinged through on her phone, sliding it towards her she could see it was a Twitter notification, a like to a reply she had posted earlier that morning. Smiling she scrolled through looking at the picture that had been sent in reply.

"what's tickled you then?" Mike asked walking in to the living room

"oh just twitter" she smiled "look at this" she grinned turning her phone around to show him the picture of a kitten curled up in a ball. "how cute is this" she smiled

"yes very" he sighed clearly not interested in the photo.

"i think we should create an account for Midnight" she smiled.

"are you mad. It's a bloody cat, all they do is sleep and demand food" he said frowning at her

"its more than that look" she said showing him "there is a whole gang of them they have their own hashtag and there is even a hashtag just for cats here in Australia."

"you're mad" he grinned making a grab for her phone. Scrolling through her following list he looked up at her "exactly how many cats have you followed?" he grinned

"ummmm...A few" she smiled shrugging slightly.

"A few over half this list must be blooming cats" he said handing her, her phone back

"not all of them are cats, there are some dogs on there as well.

"if you say so" he smiled teasingly. "do yiu fancy a coffee?" he asked

"if you're making one" she smiled back.

Picking up her phone she began typing a response to a picture she had just seen of a cat in the UK who lived in a school.

10 minutes later Mike returned carrying 2 glasses.

"here we go" he smiled handing her one of the glasses.

The glass had hot milk on the bottom and on top was a coffee coloured sort of foam slowly mixing in with the milk.

"um mike, I thought you were making coffee?" she said looking up at him

"this is coffee, its that tiktok coffee I thought we could try it"

"and you were saying how mad I was with cats on twitter" she grinned

"well we have to get down with the kids otherwise we will be left behind. Nicole already thinks I am un-cool"

"well" she grinned "i think Nik may have a point" Kate grinned.

"i happen to be very cool and down with the kids" Mike said trying to attempt to throw some moves.

"if you say so" Kate laughed watching him 'throw some shapes'

Sipping her drink, she gagged slightly at how bitter the coffee foam was. "is this instant coffee" she called

"yeah. Instent coffee sugar and water whipped till it's a thick foam and then spooned on to milk." he smiled

"i think I will stick to my normal coffee thanks because that is vile" she grinned looking up at the clock. It was almost time to pick the kids up from school. "right I'm off to get the kids "she smiled grabbing her keys.

After Picking up Chris from nursery she sat outside the school waiting for Grace and Nicole. Despite them being in Primary and high school retrospectively their schools were on the same campus so Nicole would collect Grace from her classroom and then they would both walk to the car.

Turning as the back door opened grace flopped in sighing as Nicole sat in the front.

"hey girls good day" Kate smiled

"fine" was the robotic response from both girls

"and what did you do today Grace" she smiled looking at grace in her mirror

"nothing" grace smiled

"nothing! Well I think I shall have to have words with your teacher then if you haven't done anything" Kate grinned

"no" Grace called

Grinning Kate turned to Nicole. "and how was your day" she smiled as they stopped at a set of traffic lights.

"okay I guess" Nicole said not taking her eyes off her phone.

Kate sighed she wished she could get more than a three word answer out of her kids at time. Chris didn't tell much but he was in kindergarten and came home with more paint on him each day than he must have gotten on the paper so it was clear he had a great day.

Pulling up outside the house she switched off the engine.

"mum can I have some chips?" Grace asked

"no, you will spoil your dinner" Kate said as she opened the front door. "right get change and homework" she said putting Chris down after carrying him in to the house. Grabbing some clean clothes out of the basket on the side she tried to grab Chris to change his paint covered clothes but he ran round madly thinking it was a game.

"and what do you think you're doing little man" Mike called grabbing him as he walked in

Chris giggled at this game

"thanks" Kate smiled "come here monster let's get you changed.

Flopping down on the sofa Kate sighed she still hadn't managed to get all she has wanted done today but at least she had managed half of it whilst the kids were back in school. They were lucky being in the north as in Melbourne they had been forced in to another lockdown because of a spike in the virus and boarders had been shut completely. The only affects they felt was the loo roll went low in stores for a few weeks but it was nothing they couldn't cope with. She just hoped like the rest of the country that the spike wouldn't spread and they be forced back in to lockdown and back to square 1

so hope you like this little look back in to the life of the Flynn's in lockdown. i understand schools in oz have been back which is fab. so that's where this stemmed from.

the twitter thing is what i have been doing i have started to follow lots of cats and dogs on twitter out of being board but they are all so cute so lockdown well spent :D
