Hello. Back for chapter number 16. This was quite a fun chapter to write, especially Natasha. Also if anyone knows an expensive restaurant in New York PLEASE feel free to share so I can decide where Wanda should take Xander to raid Tony Starks bank account

Enjoy the story.

Wanda couldn't believe her eyes. This had to be a trick, a mean spirited trick that the universe wanted to play with her. That was the only reason that this was happening right now. The man who was both the object of her affections and the reason behind her torment was standing in her doorway with a small sad smile on his face. Wanda just sat there frozen. her mouth opening and closing like a fish for a few moments. Before her hands balled up into fists and she all but launched herself at Xander grabbing him by the scruff of his shirt. he must have been frightened for he moved back giving Wanda control of the situation and she pushed Xander back until he was pressed against the wall of the hallway, his blue eyes wide with fear gazing into Wanda's green ones, which were ablaze with fury. "Did I do something wrong" he mouthed to Wanda, trying to diffuse the situation before Wanda decided to throw him through the wall. Wanda didn't respond, her rage filled glare directed at Xander's mouth. Moving but no sound. Just like the Doctor said. Xander's voice was gone whether it be to the bullet wound, the head injury or exposure to Wanda's powers. Or any combination thereof, but Wanda only had one question on her mind.

Her mouth worked furiously for a few seconds before she found her own voice and she screamed angrily "What are you DOING HERE?!" her voice echoed across the empty hallway, causing Xander to flinch from the sheer power of Wanda's voice and was completely stunned into silence, or the equivalent of such when you were struck mute anyway. He knew what she was capable of and he really didn't want to be on the wrong side of Wanda when she was mad, especially when it actually was directed at him this time around. He raised his hands trying to show Wanda that he wasn't there to hurt her, not that he could anyway. The too just stood there in silence the only sound that could be heard was Wanda's heavy breathing. She was utterly furious. How dare someone bring Xander to her to taunt her and torment her about her mistake. She just wanted to move on and forget about it, (as impossible as it was) but how was she supposed to do that when Xander was all she could think about?" "Wanda please I" he mouthed but before he could finish, Wanda snapped. She moved forward and crashed her lips into Xander's with raw passion and fervent desire, her mouth dominating Xander's easily as her hands removed themselves from his shirt and gently cupped his face, closing her eyes as she melted into the kiss she was giving him . Xander, in response, wrapped his arms around Wanda enclosing her in a loving embrace, drawing her closer to him. Wanda's tongue licked Xander's lips asking for entrance. The cavern opened and Wanda's tongue entered, engaging Xander's in a battle of wills. It was a tough battle but in the end Wanda was victorious, dominating over the boy with a strength even Wanda didn't know she possessed. Moans filled the hallway as Wanda's hands removed themselves from Xander's face and traced down his shirt, until they reached the hem of his shirt. However before Wanda could even think to continue there was a sudden cough that caused the two teens to break apart. Wanda and Xander turned in the direction of the sound and sure enough there eyes landed on Steve Rogers and Natasha Romanoff, the poor captain looking like he was about to faint while the red head assassin was grinning like a maniac "I take it you liked your surprise?" she asked though she was unable to keep the laughter out of her voice while doing so.

Wanda was speechless of a brief moment trying to process the past few minutes. First she was in her room pouting unable to process her feelings and cope with the atrocity she had committed, then Xander shows up out of nowhere and she loses all self control until Natasha dumped a bucket of cold water over her head. Speaking of which….

She turned back to Xander, who turned to meet her gaze and Wanda snapped once again this time bringing her hand and slapping Xander across the face hard. Her boyfriend was clearly not expecting that response, for his head snapped to the side from the force of her blow, almost being knocked off his feet, but he stood firm and he held his reddening cheek, his face the epitome of shock as he stood there frozen from Wanda's action…

Gritting her teeth, Wanda began shaking with rage as she raised her hand again, seemingly ready to slap him again, before she closed her eyes and took a deep breath, a single tear running down her cheek. "Get out..." she growled at Xander, turning her back to him. The young Sokovian the proceeded back into her room and slammed the door behind her, leaving Xander and the other Avengers to wonder why Wanda reacted with such a bipolar reaction to seeing the man she loved

Xander sighed , letting his hand fall to his side, before looking at Steve with a heartbreaking "i told you so" before he began to walk away, but he didn't make it more than a few steps before Natasha caught up with him snagging him by the arm "Oh no you dont kid," she began. You and I are going to have a very long talk about your girlfriend and you are not leaving until we manage to break her out of the stupor that she claims to be in right now!"

Xander turned to look at Natasha before pointing to his lips, showing how he was obviously unable to make a sound at all let alone talk about Wanda. Judging from her reaction she was in no mood to see him and was still trying to process her grief. For you see. It was Steve's idea to get Xander to come to the base, hoping that bringing Xander to Wanda would snap her out of her stupor he could remember that phone call quite clearly while he was still at the hospital earlier that day

Xander sat in bed, his eyes downcast, brimming with tears. It had been several days since his accident. Not that he cared; he had already come to terms with his condition, though he knew it would take time for him to truly be able to accept it. His head was wrapped in bandages for the past two days, since he had hit his head quite hard and his neck still felt sore from the stitches that were sutured into his throat. He just kept going over it in his mind over and over again trying to figure out what had happened.

The gunman had already shot Wanda in the back in a cowardly act, after Wanda had given him a chance to leave. Right after that, Wanda had attempted to retaliate but she wasn't fast enough to stop the gunman from getting a second shot at her head. Not wanting to see Wanda get shot again Xander did the only thing he could do to protect her. He hooked his foot around Wanda's and pushed her down with enough force to knock her over, but what he failed to anticipate was Wanda going on the offensive herself. From the corner of his eye Xander notice red mist emanating from her hands but before he could even wonder what Wanda was doing, the mist enveloped his whole body, followed by a stinging pain in his neck, but he was barely able to comprehend it because it was immediately followed by him being levitated off the floor telekinetically thrown into the air. Xander's eyes widened as his gaze found Wanda's, whose eyes were filled with horror sadness and fury. It was the last thing Xander saw before he hit his head and Darkness washed over the image of the woman he loved.

After that the last thing Xander remembered was waking up in a hospital bed, his head pounding like drums at a concert and his neck feeling very stiff and raw. Of course seeing Wanda at that moment was a very worthwhile compromise. She had her head cushioned into his chest and he could hear her sobbing loudly, but all he cared about was the fact he was right where he belonged; in her arms. "Oh Xander! I'm so glad you are OK!" she cried, before she pulled away and cupped his face, causing Xander to smile widely; he was so fond of her touch. He needed to let her know that he was ok.

Of course that wasn't the case. His voice was gone whether it be from the physical trauma that he endured or exposure to Wanda's powers according to his Doctor. Either way he was struck mute. The thing was he didn't blame Wanda in the slightest. Sure she might be responsible, but she didn't do it intentionally or out of malice so why should he hold it against her? He was angry though that she had left him at the hospital. His parents were states away and he had no one here except for Wanda. Though it was an honor to have Captain America himself visit your hospital room, it wasn't exactly the comfort that Xander sought , but he tried not to hold it against Wanda; Captain Rogers had told him of her emotional trauma during the battle of Sokovia and how she lost her brother- the only family she had left- as a result. It was hard not to sympathize with Wanda in that regard. All he could do was ask Captain Rogers to look after her for him, at least until Wanda was ready to talk to him again.

Well, Several days passed and with each passing hour Xander felt his world slipping away. It was like he no longer mattered to Wanda; Captain Rogers had not followed up on him either; not that he expected as such but it would be nice to know if Wanda was doing well; judging by the lack of contact it was safe to say that it was indeed not the case. He wanted to leave the hospital and go check on Wanda, but he doubted he was allowed to walk to the Avengers headquarters to find her, even if he knew where it was. There WAS the Avengers tower, but like he said, no one would be foolish enough to just walk in there and even if he could, there was no guarantee that he would be able to see Wanda, that is if she was even there. So basically he was stuck.

Or at least that's what he thought until there was a knock at his door. Xander looked up to see nurse looking at him with a small smile. Sadly Xander could not return it for he didn't want to get his hopes up "there's someone here to see you" the nurse told him. Xander simply nodded, allowing his visitor, whoever it was to come in. he was certain he would have been told if it were his parents; they knew the situation but were unable to fly out to New York from Missouri at the moment. So either it was Wanda or one of her companions but given that Wanda hadn't so much as called he figured it was the latter.

And lo and behold Captain Rogers himself walked into the room with a rather interesting proposition for the newly disabled mute. One that he was all too happy to oblige in order to see his girlfriend.

And so here he was having both been kissed and slapped by Wanda. What else was there to do. Steve's plan obviously hadn't worked so there was little that could be done as far as Xander was concerned. He doubted that there was anything else he could do at this point to begin with anyway, short of pestering Wanda. He already knew what she was capable of when she was angry; he definitely didn't want to see her angry, especially when he was actively trying to get her like that just to get some sort of reaction from her.

Sadly it didn't seem like Natasha was one to care about the semantics of that plan. With strength far betraying her frame (though Xander really should have expected as such considering she was a superhero for crying out loud), she dragged Xander to Wanda's door, proceeded to kick it open and unceremoniously throw the boy in the room again and slammed the door.

"We'll open it when you two finally get your act together!" she shouted from the other side of the door, before turning and leaning against the door frame with a smirk on her face while Steve just face palmed at Natasha's actions. This was going to be a very long and painful process for poor Xander. He knew what would happen when one was facing Wanda's wrath and all he could do was pray that she would show mercy

Meanwhile, Wanda was sitting on her bed, her face in her hands trying her best to hold back the tears that were threatening to spill, not that she was having much luck with that. She felt torn between her rational mind and her heart's desire. She wanted to hold Xander in her arms, to kiss him, to be with him forever and ever like the fairy tales that she read as a child. But she couldn't shake the guilt and fear about him being in the situation he was in because of her powers and her affiliation with the Avengers. Granted it was because of that same fact that she had even met him in the first place but was that really a win for her right now?

That said she couldn't even believe herself right now. She had lost control and had practically molested him in the hallway outside her room while her teammates watched (though Steve was certainly redder and more horrified than Natasha was, since the craft red headed assassin was not even phased by such a scene). Granted Wanda knew that she would have had enough clarity to drag him back into the room before anything got too heated but Natasha poured a bucket of ice water on her head, figuratively speaking to stop that from happening, which reawakened Wanda's rage in the process. How did anyone thing she wanted to see him? She specifically told them that was the last thing that she wanted right now. Sad thing was she wasn't going to admit that if it wasn't for her friends interference, she would never want to see Xander again because of her feelings. Were there hearts in the right place? Sure. was it a good idea. Hell no.

Before Wanda could even think to do anything else however, she was startled from her thoughts by the sound of her bedroom door opening with a loud crash. She jolted looking up to see Xander being thrown into the room by a rather fed up looking Natasha, who slammed the door shut before Xander even landed on the ground.

"We'll open it when you two finally get your act together!" she shouted from the other side of the door. Wanda couldn't believe it. Natasha had essentially trapped her in the same room as the person she both simultaneously loved and hated most in the world. Of course Wanda could try to just toss Xander out of the room but upon looking at him, Wanda realized that she just didn't have the heart too. Xander was lying on his hands and knees gazing directly into Wanda's eyes with a look on his face that was as equally heartbreaking as a kicked puppy. The worst part was that Wanda was easily able to tell what it was he was trying to convey in his facial features. He wanted to talk to her, only Wanda wasn't letting him. Essentially the witch of the Avengers was trapping the poor mute between a rock and a hard place and only she could free him should she choose to actually do so.

The two lovers just stared at each other for the briefest of moments, before Xander finally pulled himself off of Wanda's bedroom floor and dusted himself off before raising a leg as if to walk towards her, only to put his foot down upon realizing just how bad of an idea that was. So he stood there frozen just looking at Wanda waiting for her to give him permission to move within her humble abode.

Of course with Wanda Maximoff things were never that easy for anyone.

Wanda just proceeded to turn her head away unable to bear the thought of looking at Xander "why are you here?" she asked aloud, knowing full well that Xander wasn't going to be able to answer her. It was all she could do to ignore him.

Xander frowned, deciding to forgo any manners. This wasn't going to get him anywhere, especially if Wanda refused to face the issue head on. So he did what any rational person would do. He stomped over to Wanda and without even thinking of the consequences grabbed her by her collar and yanked her off the bed causing the young woman to stumble to her feet and stare straight into his eyes. For a brief moment all Wanda felt was fear as she looked into Xander's eyes which were filled with annoyance at Wanda's poor attitude, but this faded quickly as she sensed no malice coming from Xander. Instead she felt pity, remorse and anger but it wasn't directed at her at all. Instead everything she was feeling was directed at Xander himself. Pity for not being stronger for Wanda, remorse for causing her pain and anger that Wanda was even feeling this way in the first place. He felt wholly responsible for Wanda's current predicament. If they had never met then Wanda would have no reason to feel guilty and he couldn't bear being responsible for Wanda's pain, which is why he didn't want to leave her. He wanted to be the one to make her smile to dry her tears and to tell her that everything was going to be ok. That was the only thing that was on his mind. Wanda's happiness. There was not a single ounce of blame directed toward the young Sokovian in Xanders mind at all. It was all self directed and aimed at the gunman in the theater.

In short it took the one thing that Wanda didn't want to make her see what a fool she was. She was so absorbed in hating herself that she thought Xander hated her, but that was so far from the truth. He was in the same situation she was in. He hated himself. The difference was he wanted to comfort Wanda whereas Wanda wanted to be left alone. He was thinking of her, she was thinking only of herself.

Sad thing was that either way Wanda didn't deserve that from him, or at least that's what she thought anyway. Yet Wanda couldn't help but move her hands to cup Xander's face, her breath coming out shallow as she tried to contain her emotions. How could she be such a fool? "Xander…" she whispered "I"... she trailed off unable to continue. What could she say? "I'm sorry I…" before she could finish her sentence, Xander captured her lips with his in a searing kiss, moving his hands to rest on Wanda's hips, pulling her close to him. Wanda responded by molding into Xander's touch. Pressing her breasts against his chest and throwing her arms around his neck. Wanda put one hand on the back of Xanders neck, her other hand gliding into Xander's soft brown hair as a moan escaped her throat. she slid her tongue across Xander's lips who opened his mouth and she entered the cavity, intent on exploring every inch of his being. Sadly the need for air became too great and the two were forced apart. Wanda pulled away from Xander, but remained in his embrace, the two just looking into each other's eyes. It was quiet for a few heartbeats before Wanda cupped Xanders face once again "Xander I'm sorry…." "she said her voice breaking "I know you don't blame me… but it's because of me you can't speak anymore." Xander just smiled "I don't care" he mouthed "it was those men that caused this. All you did was try to defend me. I can't be angry because i was caught into the crossfire trying to help you."

Wanda's eyes began budding with tears. Why was it that Xander seemed to be able to say exactly what she needed to hear? God bless this man that she could call her own. She placed her head on his chest, a content smile reaching her lips. "Thank you Xander…" she said before staring at him with half lidded eyes "You know we never did get to finish our date." she said he voice lowering seductively. Gosh those lessons from Natasha were really paying off right now. Granted she wasn't going to do THAT to Xander, and she certainly didn't want to put him in a reluctant position, it seemed that she was just going on autopilot with Xander right now. God she could feel her cheeks burning right now. Xander's own cheeks were red, but he responded by cupping Wanda's face and pressing his lips to Wanda's lips once again in a chaste kiss, before pulling away. "I'd like that" he mouthed, causing Wanda to smile "Dinner then?" she asked "I believe Stark might be able to help with that." Xander grinned mischievously and nodded. Getting the chance to dine on a billionaires salary? How could he not pass that up. He could only hope that either Tony Stark was ok with that or Wanda had a ridiculous allowance that Stark gave her every month.

Unfortunately before any more could be discussed (at least from Wanda) there was a knock on the door, causing the young couple to look at the door "You two better not be sucking face in there!" came Natasha's voice, filled with laughter. Wanda stared at the door for a moment, a glower reaching her face before it shifted into a wicked grin "so what if we were Aunty Natasha!" she called in an over the top childish voice, hoping to catch the redhead off guard with her alias, since Clint was now Wanda's "dad" "are you going to come in here and scold me?" she called. Of course Natasha might be a bit of a smartass, but even she wasn't vain enough to go that far for the sake of a joke.

As a result it was quiet for a brief moment, before Natasha just yelled the last thing either teen wanted to hear. "Ill only scold you when you get pregnant Wanda!" Wanda froze her face going as red as a tomato. Unable to help herself Wanda stole a glance at Xander who was also taken aback, his face just as red as hers. Wanda stuttered for a brief moment but before she could say anything Natasha called out once again "Have fun you two" before her footsteps could be heard getting more distant signifying that she was walking down the hall. When Wanda could no longer hear anything coming from outside her door. She reluctantly pulled away from Xander and sat on her bed burying her face in her hands. She did not need to deal with that stress right now. After taking a few deep breaths she raised her head, though she was still unable to rid her cheeks of the fire "I'm sorry that you had to deal with that Xander" she said. Xander just shook his head and shrugged, clearly trying to not let Natasha's words bother him, but his face showed that he was just as embarrassed as she was. Wanda had to admit she did fantasize about him physically at times (at least before the accident) so it wasn't too much of a stretch to say that Xander did the same, but that didn't mean they were going to admit it let alone to each other so early in a relationship. Even if they did she wasn't emotionally ready to even try to seduce Xander (and she certainly wasn't going to ask Natasha for tips on that unless she was REALLY desperate) and even then she knew that she had to be prepared to avoid the consequences. A pregnant superhero was the last thing she wanted to be.

After a few moments to recollect themselves Wanda stood up from the bed and took Xander's hand, causing the young man to look at her with a small shy smile. "Come on" she told him "I want to see if I can't get Stark to let me live a little for you." she said, before dragging Xander out of her room. As much as she wanted privacy with Xander, she would rather do that away from the prying eyes of her teammates, who seemed to make it their life's mission to tease her about being young and in love.
