Goodbye to a Fallen Warrior – Chapter 3
I feel strong arms circle around my waist, soft butterfly kisses up my neck. I feel him nibble on my neck and up to my ear. I turn my head to see the one my heart desires, I lean up and push my lips softly against his. I feel a flood of heat shoot down my body. My hands move, one to his neck and the other to his hair. I feel him grip my waist, as he does my grip on his hair tightens as well. Not long after I feel him begin to pull away, I take this chance to look into his beautiful green eyes.
"I love you, Dick" I smile. Suddenly he suddenly started to shake my arm "Wake up Dick" he does this faster, repeating that sentence over and over. I open my eyes, my body jerks up with start, and I look around to see I was in my room. So it was a dream, damn it felt good too, it felt so real. I turn to look to my left and see Wally.
"Morning Sleeping Beauty" He says simply with a smirk. I jump and fall out of bed, shit what's he doing here? I can't let him see my in this situation, I'm lucky my duvet is still in place. "Hey dude, you okay?" he laughs.
"Dude! Don't do that to a guy first thing in the morning" I say with mock annoyance, I move my hand to keep my duvet in place while I move back to my bed "what are you doing here?"
"We were supposed to hangout remember" Oh yeah, he smirks as he looks down at my hands position "Have a good dream?" he smirk only grew more devious.
"Shut up Kid Mouth" I reply simply with a blush.
"I'm only joking with you" he gives me a genuine smile which makes my heart skip a beat "Ey I haven't seen you in a year, so I have a lot to catch up on" he simply winks at me. My blush only deepens.
"Whatever" I simply say. He kept on looking at me with this weird look in his eyes. "What"
"Why didn't you ever tell me?" tell him what? He must have noticed as he continues "Artemis told me everything" Shit! What did she say to him? I feel my heart beat increase as I start to panic. He notices my panicked look, he puts his hand on my shoulder "You should have told me dude. I'm not bothered, Your still my best friend"
"Really?" I ask, shocked.
"Sure, I don't care that you gay" What? "Though all the girls on the planet will be gutted to hear the boy wonder likes guys" she didn't tell him about my feelings.
"That's good to know" I give him a small smile.
A very devious smile reappears on his face, I begin to feel very nervous. "So about that dream" oh no "Who's the lucky guy that gets you all hot and bothered"
"He's nobody" my face feels like it is on fire because I'm blushing so much.
"Awh, come on bro, you can tell me" he smiles at me "I need to make sure this guy is worth your affections"
"it doesn't matter" Wally gives me a confused look "He straight"
"Ah" he just smirks at me "Don't worry Richard, your hot enough to turn any straight guy gay" Oh My God! Did he seriously just say that to me? I feel my eyes widen, my heart beat increases tenfold. It feels like butterflies are going to explode from my stomach. "Is he anyone I know?" I simply nod without realising it "Really?! Who is it?" the blush reappeared on my face "Awh, come on dude, you can tell me"
This wasn't good, I need to think and quick "It's Conor" what? Why'd I say that? Okay it was the first name I could think of.
"Really" his eyes shows shock and something that looks like hurt, but it changes to a look of understanding "I guess I can see the attraction, don't worry dude I'll keep your secret"
"thanks man" I sigh with relief, that was close, he almost found out my feelings for him. Suddenly I feel myself being pulled up against his body, he's hugging me, ignoring the butterflies, and I hug him back.
"I missed you dude" he says as his voice cracks, is he crying?
"I missed you too Wally" tears appear in my eyes, my life was a mess without him in my life. This may sound really sappy, but, he's my sunshine that lights up my life. He's the only one who can make me laugh so much that sometimes I can barely breathe. We pull away and I look at him, his beautiful green eyes look even more so with tears in his eyes. "Don't worry Wally, your home now, I'll never let anyone take you away from us"
"I know Dick" he wipes his eyes "Oki enough of the depressing stuff get dressed and I'll meet you in the lounge. This day it just me, you, junk food and Halo" he says to me with a big grin on his face. He get up and walks out of my room, closing the door behind him.
Somehow I'm able to calm myself down, I get out of bed and walk over to my closet. I get changed into a pair of my skinny jeans, black tight top, a pair of my favourite black converse and a leather jacket. I walk out of my closet and make my way down stairs, I don't see Wally in the lounge, so I go to the only other place he could be. The Kitchen. I walk in, of course I was right, and he's stuffing his face, typical.
"Hey dude" he says bits of food falling out his mouth, I cringe in disgust.
"Dude swallow before speaking" I see him swallow his food.
"Sorry dude" he says with a grin. I shake my head, he really hasn't changed.
"Its fine" I turn to Alfred "Where Bruce?"
"Master Bruce is in the bat cave researching the blue beetle's origin"
Of course, Bruce doesn't go out unless he absolutely has to, I role my eyes. Alfred passes me a plate of food, I take it from him and exit the kitchen towards the lounge knowing Wally would follow. I throw myself on the sofa, as Wally goes over to the TV to set everything. I take a minute to just watch him with a small. I can't believe he's back, after a year of him being gone, it's good to have him back. It's like nothing's changed, the smile falls from my face. That's right nothing's changed, Wally's happy and in love with Artemis and I'm left being in love with someone I'll never have. Well that's depressing, I look down to my plate, and I place it on the table no longer hungry. Wally walks over to me with the two game pads, he notices the plate on the table and looks at me with a look of concern. He places the pads on the table and sits next to me.
"You ok Dude?"
"Yeah man, I'm fine. Just got a lot on my mind" I reply simply.
"You thinking about Conor?" I asks, right he think I'm in love with Conor "Don't worry Dick, you've got the looks and the charm to win him over" he then winks at me, I feel my cheeks heat up. I smile a little, I lean forward and grab the pads off the table.
"Thanks man" I say whilst passing a pad to him. I receive a cheesy smile off him, we both turn a start playing 'Halo'. Yeah just like old times.
3 hours later
I hear the door of the bat cave open, I pause the game and turn to see Bruce walk into the room. He notices me and sits down on the chair near the sofa.
"I wanted to talk to you about coming back to the league"
"I don't know Bruce, I only put on my cape to save Wally" I sigh "I don't know if I'm ready to come back yet"
"I don't understand Dick" Wally says to me "Why'd you leave the league?" I feel my cheeks heat up again, Bruce seems to have noticed and he answers for me.
"He blamed himself for your death, his precise words were 'How the hell am I supposed to save strangers when I couldn't even save the one person who meant everything to me'. He didn't take losing his best friend that well" did he seriously just tell him that. My face feels like its on fire I'm blushing that much. "Well I'll get back to work, we'll talk later Dick" he turns and walks back towards the Bat cave.
Neither of us spoke for a while, until Wally clears his throat.
"It wasn't your fault you know" he puts his hand on my shoulder "I wasn't fast enough to keep up with Flash and Impulse"
"I shouldn't of let you come out of retirement, if I hadn't have asked Artemis to help with that mission, you wouldn't have come out of retirement and you won't have been gone" that's all it took, I feel tear stream down my face. I see Wally stand up and kneel in front of me and places his hands back on my shoulders.
"Listen to me ok Dick. Artemis and I chose to come back, if you didn't ask us to come back we would have anyway. You know why because you and the team mean a lot to me, you more than any other member. Ok so no more blaming yourself" I nod my head, he's right, he's so stubborn that way "Good" then something I could only describe a sexy smirk appears on his face "So I'm the one person who means everything to you? More than Conor?"
"Shut up Wally, You know how much you mean to me" the blush re-appears on my face
"I know man, we're not just best friend, we're brothers" Ouch that one hurt, but it's better than not having him in my life.
"Always, KF, always" I place my hands over his.
Sorry it took so long guys, but I've tried really hard on this chapter, don't like don't read. I know Nightwings a little out character, I wanted my reader to see the sensitive side. Rate and review :D
