THIS IS A RE-UPLOAD. Cellmaster wishes to keep his main account for Persona-related projects, and gave me permission to upload it here on his behalf. I understand it sounds weird, but that was our deal. So please don't immediately flag this for plagarism; message Cellmaster first. He'll confirm that I have his permission.
This is just a preamble to the actual story where I go over a few things you might want to know before reading, just so you can make sense of everything.
First, there will be some new characters. And yes, most characters will have last names.
Jiro Adachi. Mokushujin. Kotaro's nephew who does not share the king's opportunistic, underhanded, and immoral tendencies. A diviner who trades magic and resistance for better defense and health. Owner of one of the divine weapons, the Leviathan Scroll.
Jean-Marie. Nestran. A hunter-turned-assassin who follows Iago's orders, though he makes it very clear he hates working for him. An outlaw with low speed, especially for a thief unit, and also low strength, but great magic, skill, and amazing luck.
Calix. Blood Tribe. A man wanted continent-wide, dead or alive, due to his violent and sadistic tendencies. Rumors state that he's in cahoots with Peri. A Malig. Knight with low HP, speed, and luck, but great defense and resistance, acceptable attacking stats, and INSANE skill. He has a divine weapon, Hauteclaire, but stole it instead of inheriting it.
Phoenix. Fire Tribe. One of Rinkah's old friends who went rogue after a Hoshidan noble killed her parents for being unable to pay the debt they owed. A dark mage with high speed, dexterity, and resistance, but only middling magic and subpar HP.
Yukari: The daughter of a noble family, disgusted by the widespread corruption that rampantly spread after the start of the war. A ninja with high defense for a thief unit, but 0 magical ability and poor resistance. Owner of one of the divine weapons, the Death Knell Star.
Misoka: An innocent and young healer who would rather be anywhere else than in the war. Unfortunately, she was drafted anyways. A cleric who trades skill and luck for better healing ability and survivability.
Second, as you may have noticed, there are more divine weapons. I'll list them all here.
Raijinto: Ryoma's personal weapon, once belonging to King Sumeragi, and his ancestors before him. A katana made of gold that emanates electricity from its blade.
Siegfried: Xander's personal weapon, once belonging to King Garon, and his ancestors before him. A dark longsword capable of firing dark blasts from the gem in its center.
Fujin Yumi: Takumi's personal weapon, passed down from Hoshidan queens. Fires arrows of light made by the bow itself, giving it unlimited ammo.
Brynhilder: Leo's personal weapon, passed down from Nohrian kings. Controls the earth in a small area, causing trees to sprout out of the ground almost instantaneously.
Leviathan Shade: Jiro's persona weapon, given to Mokushu by Hoshido as thanks for assisting them in a battle over a century ago. Conjures the spirit of a mighty nameless leviathan.
Hauteclaire: Calix's and Camilla's personal weapon. Originally meant to be given to Camilla, but someone stole it, and it ended up in Calix's hands. Can conjure mighty whirlwinds in the area around the axe.
Death Knell Star: Yukari's personal weapon. Made out of the bones of a dragon, the ends of this 4-pronged star pop out when it's thrown, given to Yukari's ancestors as a sign of camaraderie. Coated in flames.
Evil's Bane: Arthur's axe. Appears to be a divine weapon, but the original name is lost to history. Arthur laid claim to it when it flew out of the bottomless canyon and struck him in the face with the flat side of the head. He has no idea how to get it to conjure magic.
Yato: Carmen's personal weapon. It chose her to be its bearer. The sword itself appears to be sentient, as it refuses to leave its sheath at times. Appears to be the weakest of the divine weapons.
Vajra: Kamui's and Hinoka's personal weapon. Both have been labelled by the lance as worthy. Like the Yato, it also appears to be sentient, repelling itself from the hands of the unworthy. Can summon icicles like Brynhilder can summon trees.
Bölverk: The axe that King Garon wields. Appears to be made out of a dragon's scales in and of itself, making it a very potent and dangerous weapon if put into the wrong hands.
Skadi: The bow that Mikoto brought with her when she became the Hoshidan Queen, although where exactly she got it is unknown. She never appears to have this bow on her person, and throughout the nears, nobody has seen it, aside from when she first brought it into the castle.
My reasoning for this is because of Anankos's power. Due to how powerful he is, I think it would be incredibly stupid for there to only be 5 divine weapons made by the rainbow sage. He would have made 9, at the very least, because not only can weapons be destroyed or lost forever, they could also be placed into horrendous hands that could be used against the others. And if you're wondering why I gave a weapon to Arthur, it just seems like an Arthur thing to happen to Arthur. That, and I really like Arthur and I wish he had more story relevance, but you can just go and ignore that.
Third: There are some character differences. For starters, there are two Corrins. Pretty standard fare for FE Fates fanfictions. Carmen and Kamui. Not using Corrin because I keep mixing up the names when I use Corrin and Kamui. Second, Mikoto is alive because anime-mother-syndrome is not one of my preferred motivators for a protagonist. Third, Garon is far more fleshed-out. You actually see traces of his humanity and he's not just the one-note villain he is in the base game. He's still one of the villains, don't get me wrong, but I (at least hope that I) am making Garon into somebody who you can actually relate to, with understandable motivations, goals, and reasons for why he acts the way he does when he used to be the great king that the Nohrians and Xander especially describe him to have been in Conquest. Fourth, same thing with Queen Mikoto and Sumeragi. Unless you play revelations, there is literally zero reason to view them in a negative light in the context of the game. Here, that's changed. What exactly do I mean? You'll just have to wait and see. ;) Fifth, Nohr uses stoneborn far more often, and I plan to put in explanations of just how faceless and stoneborn work.
Four: I will be putting in parts explaining how it would work in a gameplay sense. Basically, I'll be putting it all in bold, so if you don't want to see that, it'll be easy to tell when it begins and when it stops.
Five: Please note that I do not have a PhD in English literature, so there will undoubtedly be errors or points where characters do thinks that don't fit who they are. I don't mind you pointing them out, but just please do so in a way that doesn't sound like "AKTUALY, the first time Beruka and Saizo speak to each other, it's just elipses. You're so dumb, I'm so smart." I will do what I can to address problems. And I fully realize that I'm not the first person to attempt a script rewrite of FE Fates. Hell, odds are I'm not even the thousandth. So if you're another FE Fates rewriter and you feel I'm stealing one the scenes from your rewrite, please contact me so we can discuss it and determine if a rewrite of the chapter is in order.
Six: All of my original characters are original. Again, if you feel like I'm stealing your OC, please contact me.
Seven: This is rated M for swearing, dark themes, gory descriptions, some sexual tones, and Niles. Just, Niles. How any of his dialogue in Japanese was given the go-ahead in a T-rated game, I'll never know. However, I will not be writing full-on smut. I personally feel like doing so is wrong, and hold myself to a higher standard. Feel free to disagree, it's your life, but just know that you won't find any of that here.
Eight: I am in school, so consistently adding new chapters is off the table. I'll upload when I can, but please don't freak out if I don't post something new for a week or two. Writers block is very much a real thing.
With that out of the way, I hope you enjoy reading this.
