Goodbye to a Fallen Warrior
Chapter 4
It's 7pm, at around 5pm we got bored of playing Halo, so Wally came up with the idea of watching a film, insert sarcasm. He had to choose the one film I have seen a hundred time, thanks to Tim, this film was the 'Lion King'. Don't get me wrong the film is awesome, just gets a bit old after a while. After the first 'Lion King', Wally wanted to watch the second. So here I am, watch Kiara disobey Simba and going into the outlands, kill me now. I turn to Wally.
"Seriously dude? I didn't mind watching the first one, but this is ridiculous" I whine.
"Come on Dick, I haven't seen these films in a year" he gives me this adorable pouty look.
"Stop pouting, you look like a child" I mock. He gives me angry look, it makes him look like a kitten trying to be a tiger. I just laugh at him, I glance at the clock "Come on dude it 7pm, shouldn't you be getting home, I know Artemis won't be happy"
"Nah she'll deal" he looks at me with this look, I don't know what it means "I was thinking if it's okay, can I stay over?" my eye narrow at him.
"Not that I don't love the attention, but why are you avoiding going home to your fiancé?" I am currently very pissed, he's using me to avoid going home. He can't look me in the eyes "I will not have you using me to avoid her"
"Dude, seriously I'm not" he looks me in the eyes "when we got home last night, Artemis told me something and it really hurt" What could she have told him? I give him a confused look "about six months after I 'died', Artemis was able to move on, and she started dating Kaldur" what? I'm sure my face shows a look of shock "I found it so hard to deal with, six months it took her to get over me. It's obvious she didn't love me as much as she claimed, that's why I'm not going home to her, it's because we're not together anymore"
I see tears streaming down his face, I pull him into a hug and let him cry on my shoulders. How dare she! She had the most amazing guy in the universe and she wasn't happy. Wait, why aren't I happy? I might have a chance with him. Right, he's straight, don't get your hopes up Dick. Wally's movements snap me out of my train of thought.
"Thanks man, I needed the hug" he smiles at me.
"It's okay, what are friends for" I smile "it's her loss, you're an amazing person"
"Thanks dude, just one thing gets to me. When she ended things she said 'this is for the best, there is someone who loves you more than I ever could and they're closer than you think', I don't have a clue what she's on about" I feels like my heart is about to jump out of my chest as my heart is beating so fast.
"I don't know man, maybe she's right but don't think about that right now" I smile my most charming smile "this is you and me time, and to answer your question Wally, yes you can stay over, you know you're always welcome here"
He simply smiles back "thanks Dick really, it means a lot, you're a good friend"
I smile back at him. Suddenly someone coughs, we turn around and see Conor and Roy.
"Should we come back later? You guys seem to be in the middle of something" Roy teases. We both blush, Wally stands up and goes over and hugs Roy. "I missed you KF"
"I missed you too speedy" he gives Roy a teasing smirk.
I intervene "Not that I'm not happy to see you guys but why are you here?" I blush again.
Wally looks at me, then at Conor and smirks. I hate that he thinks I'm in love with Conor.
"We're here to have some bro time, since it's not been all of us since... well... yanno..." this is the most I've ever heard Conor say
"Sweet! Time with my bros, this is what I've missed the most" I smile to myself, I'm happy to see his stupid smiling face. I have begun to feel the hole in my heart begin to heal. Maybe eventually I will be able to tell Wally how I really feel.
"Great let's start with getting the Disney crap off the screen" Roy orders "Let's get Fifa 14 on" he smirks.
"Sounds like a plan" Wally cheers.
