Betrayed

Chapter 3: Sunlight

Lucy shifted on the the cold floor, trying to get into a better position to sleep. Not that it had even helped. She grimaced, she didn't know what time it was, or what day it was. The only thing she had was a small crack in the wall that barely let a slither of sunlight or moonlight in.

She didn't know how she had gotten here.

All she knew was that the village chief had ratted her out to a nearby dark guild, with a bad reputation for stealing all the could get their hands on.

The cage she was in sapped all magical energy using a special type of a modified lacrima, and with no magical energy she couldn't escape this hell hole.

Lucy had a rough estimate of how long she had been in the cell - about two months.

Two months.

Was it really that long ago she had laughed with her Nakama? Was it really that long ago she had seen her so-called family?

She let a strangled cry escape her lips.

Despair.

Anguish.

Sadness.

It had engulfed her body quickly, making tears leak out of her eyes.

Then, another emotion quickly made itself known.

Resentment.

Lucy felt resentment towards FairyTail, where were they? Weren't they her nakama? Weren't they even looking for her?

At first, she had tried to think positive of it. Surely her Nakama were looking for her, they would rescue her.

That hope faded within the third week.

Her whole body ached when she moved even a tiny muscle, making her cry out in pain and angrily curse.

Indeed, the prison had changed her.

The only other time she had been allowed of her cell was to 'entertain' certain men. It disgusted her. It made her want to throw up, and sob.

Lucy's fist clenched and then she slammed it down on the cold, metal floor. Her nakama were probably laughing, mocking her, while she was stuck in this damp cell.

They barely gave Lucy food.

'They' being the people that locked Lucy into the cell.

The dark guild.

Lucy slowly picked herself up, her arms trembling from soreness and the cold and leaned against the wall, and wrapped her pale, thin arms around herself. She shivered.

She only had a small, worn sweater, and very short pants, with a thin pair of sandals that looked like they were going to snap any moment.

Lucy was lonely.

Lucy once had a room-mate. She had light, pink hair put into two down pigtails. With her bright maroon/violet eyes, even Lucy thought she was a beauty.

They talked, even though it took them a while to get acquainted they soon became close friends. Her name was Yukina, they talked about books, what kind of magic they did, and more.

Yukina confided in Lucy with a the things she hoped to do, but couldn't since she had gotten kidnapped in this damned place.

She had even made Lucy laugh, by giving their cell a nickname_the Hell cell.

Yukina made Lucy feel more...alive. Like Lucy never had gotten kidnapped in the first place, like she was still a part of FairyTail.

One day, 'they' grabbed Yukina out of the cell and she had never come back. Lucy sobbed, and slammed on the door as she heard Yukina's screams.

Without Yukina, Lucy felt lifeless.

She felt like a doll_unable to fight, move, or speak.

Lucy put her head was against the wall, as she breathed in and out. She was momentarily interrupted by a glowing, shimmer on her hand_precisely where her FairyTail mark was.

Lucy's eyes darted to her hand

"w-wha?" she croaked, staring at her hand.

The insignia slowly faded, leaving her hand bare as it first had before she had joined FairyTail.

"N-no...No! No!" she said, her voice louder with each 'no'.

"S-stop!" She yelled furiously scratching at her hand so hard that it bled. Her eyes widened as they pink shimmer of light faded completely.

She screamed.

"Haru! I swear if there is nothing there where we are supposedly headed. I. Will. Kill. You" A girl said as she tried to step over the mud_but was miserably failing, as she tripped over the mud and would've of fallen face first into the mud if it weren't the boy behind her.

"Thanks, Ikuto" she said, her eyes wide at the possibility of falling.

The girl had long, dark blonde hair that reached down to her thighs, piercing, icy-blue eyes.

"The dream was so real! Ino, I could see how she looked perfectly! Pink-hair - like this!" he held his hands on each side of his face making swirly motions with his index finger. "She told me to rescue a girl named Lucy!" Haru said, as he tried not flinching from her glare.

He had bright red hair, the color of flames, with green eyes.

Ikuto ran his hand through his hair, his other hand reassuringly on Inori's shoulder.

"It's fine, we can just check it out, plus, I was getting bored of doing nothing anyway."

"fine" Inori grumbled, her cheeks in a pout.

Lucy stared at her hand as if she refused to believe that her insignia had disappeared.

Faded.

Gone.

Gone.

Why?

Why?

Why?

Why?

WHY?

Lucy felt herself fall limp unrestrained tears pooling out of her eyes.

"Haru!"

A voice.

"Quickly...someone!"

Footsteps.

"Inori, take...outside...check...more..."

A silhouette.

The girl cautiously approached her.

"Are you alright?" The girl softly murmured, calmly.

Lucy didn't respond.

"Well alright then, hold on tight" Lucy felt the girl's hand on her arm, making her slightly flinch.

There was a 'Pop' sound.

Lucy squinted her eyes. It was too bright.

It hurt.

The brightness.

She cried out in pain and quickly covered her eyes, with both of her shaky hands.

Inori immediately recoiled, surprised. Her hand frozen in the air, her blue orbs blinking.

"Are...you alright?" she asked hesitantly, eyeing Lucy's bloodied hand nervously.

She was outside.

She was laying on a hill, the grass tickled her body, and the wind swept through her hair.

"Hey, do you know how long you were there?" The girl said softly, and soothingly.

"..."

"Inori!" A voice called out. The girl stood from Lucy's side and went to rejoin her companions. Lucy heard their whispers, and murmurs.

"We should ...to the guild ...medical attention" Ikuto said

"I ...the only survivor...so bad...too...much...blood..." Inori said

They all turned to Lucy.

Her chocolate eyes stared blankly at the blue sky. Emptiness. She murmured a name over and over again.

"Yukina...Yukina...Yukina..."

Haru tugged on Inori's shirt.

"O-oi...what's wrong with her?"

Inori shot him a glare, "quiet Haru!"

"I think..." Haru muttered "this is who that girl wanted me to get." He grinned as he walked over to Lucy.

"Wait Ha-" Inori began, Ikuto put a hand on her shoulder, making her freeze in mid-air.

"Just let him" he murmured under his breath.

Inori bit her lip and reluctantly obliged.

Haru bent down next to Lucy.

"You're Lucy, right?"

She stopped murmuring Yukina's name, and stared at green eyes, staring intently back.

"Yes..." she murmured faintly. Her eyes slowly closing.

"Lucy...that's right..." Haru turned back to Ikuto and Inori. Inori made her way forward.

"Well, let's take her back to the guild"

It all went black.

"Come on!" Lucy pouted, poking Yukina in the stomach. "I told you so you have to tell me."

"My lips are sealed" Yukina said sticking her tongue out. Her maroon eyes lit up happily.

"Awww, can I guess?"

"Nope"

"Please?" Lucy asked, in her best persuasive tone.

"hmmm" Yukina said, pondering the question, she sighed.

"Fine"

"really!?" Lucy exclaimed.

"Yup! But don't be disappointed or anything"

"Okay" Lucy said with a wave of her hand.

Yukina sighed as Lucy waited in anticipation.

"Dream magic"
