This jumps forward to a ball held by Martha Washington in the winter of 1780. The first time Alexander and Eliza meet. This chapter is more focused on their romance, as will the next couple of ones. I don't want to stick so close to the musical's storylines because I want to keep this interesting for you and me. So, before you judge me for changing a couple of things or adding stuff, READ THIS A/N. PLEASE. Thank you ;)
Alexander stood in the corner of the ballroom with his friends, Lafayette, Laurens, and Mulligan. The four men chatted as they observed the room, looking for a way to torment Alexander.
"Come on, Alexander, isn't there a woman that captures your attention?" Laurens asked with peaked interest for his bachelor friend.
"Nope," Alexander laughed. "I'm afraid that my main focus is on the war. A woman may just distract me from that."
"What about the lovely Schuyler sisters?" Mulligan asked. "A delightful trio of sisters, from what I hear. That Angelica is very beautiful. And her sister Elizabeth is perhaps the epitome of what a wife should be."
"Miss Elizabeth would be delightful," Alexander started, "But I do not court. And as you have all reminded me, women like her only court rich artisans. Which I am not."
"Yes, what about Angelica? I hear she packs quite a conversation- many men consider her brains more of an annoying quality than pleasure."
"As much as I admire a woman of intellect, gentleman, I find it unbelievable to stay faithful to just one woman! How do you do it, Lafayette, with your wife in France?" Alexander asked.
His friend smiled. "When you find the one woman who completes you, my friend, that is all it takes."
"How poetic," Laurens said as he rolled his eyes.
"Don't forget, Mulligan, he is French," Alexander commented. The group descended into laughter as Angelica Schuyler drew near.
"Forgive me, gentlemen, but may I borrow Mr. Alexander for a moment?" she asked politely.
Mulligan and Laurens exchanged hurmous glances as Lafayette answered for his friend. "As his legal guardian, I have no problems with that." They laughed until Alexander kicked Lafayette under the table, causing him to spill his wine, which made the group even more humored.
As Alexander took Angelica's arm, he asked, "Where are you taking me?"
She smiled. "There is someone you must meet."
Minutes earlier...
"Angie, what are you looking at?" Eliza asked her older sister as they sat at a table.
"Hmm? Oh, nothing," she replied, refocusing her gaze to her two younger sisters. "Peggy, dear, what are you doing?"
Peggy stopped and turned around. "What?" she asked, genuinely confused.
"For goodness sake, child!" Angelica exclaimed as her voice lowered to a whisper. "Pull up your dress!"
"Oh," Peggy said as she looked down.
Angelica shook her head. "You would think the girl is a child. No, she's twenty- two. On the other hand..." she switched her attention to Eliza as a grin spread on her face. "We all saw you staring at Alexander Hamilton, my darling."
"Oh, hush," Eliza said, blushing. "Everyone knows he likes you."
"He may like me," Angelica started carefully, "But that doesn't mean I like him. And besides, Papa already has matches lined up for me."
Eliza tilted her her head.
"Alexander is a penniless soldier," Angelica reminded her. "As the oldest, I must marry well. But that doesn't mean you have to."
"Oh, Angie," Eliza whispered. "Do you really think he likes me?"
"Positive," Angelica whispered back in a conspiratorial whisper, sitting up. "When the ball is in full swing, I will properly introduce the both of you so that you may find happiness."
"Really?" Eliza laughed in disbelief. "Oh, Angie, you're the best. You always help me."
"That's what I do," Angelica said softly, her happiness fading. "Help my sisters."
Ooh. A dark side to Angie. Anyways, probably another update tomorrow. Really guys, idk when these things happen. Next chapter Eliza/Alex fluff.
